• As the leaves turn orange and red
We all recall to bow our heads
Because there's thanks that must be given.
Thanks for the food that keeps us livin'.
Thanks for the toys and the girls and the boys.
Thanks for dad and mom and uncle Tom
Who worked so hard to kill this turkey
And mash the potatoes and make the gravy.

As the white light reflects off of shards of ice
And powdered snow, we remember to be nice,
Because we had forgotten throughout the year
That we had forgotten to bring others cheer.
Afraid that the man so red, fat, and jolly
Will scold us and hold us against our folly
We trim the tree and put up the holly
And all the while forget to dust the nativity.

    We make resolutions
    The past year's solutions
To kick habits and make friends
To get healthy and make amends...
    But we forget someone's looking
And set them aside so the problems we hide
Are forgotten and hidden on the inside.

Then the flowers bloom and the eggs are laid
One by two and six new creatures are made
And as we fill baskets with candy
We forget who it was that died for you and me.
