• "Will you be my Valentine?"
Why is there fear in your eyes?
    Do you understand his feelings?
His soaring hopes, his trembling affection
Dear boy, do you even understand your answer?
Splatter the school walls red, how festive
On Valentines Day, all is Silent

    Hundreds of children: fearful, alone
    Hundreds of homes: empty, yearning
Yet the lonely numbers only compound
Unwanted sons, in makeup and drag
Unwanted daughters, their girlfriends left behind
On the crowded city streets, all is Silent

Together 5 years, married for none
They have the money, the means
    But neither wears a dress
    "People will marry animals next"
Martin Luther King would be proud
Words which shadow our darkest pasts still cloud mental skies
For humans then, humans now, all is Silent

    Red, White, and Blue
Voices, hard won, rot in disuse
Our past rises to challenge oppression
And still, so many choose blindness
    Can you hear it?
The empty homes, the cold streets, the judging schools
    They scream in Silence

    So you, with your voice
    What will you choose?
Do these humans suffer in vain?
Will you sing? will you scream? will you end the Silence?
