• The city is silenced as gray clouds cover the heavens.
From behind the chilled glass of my window I watch as the moon hides,
Its light filtering through like a candle flame through thick lace.

The cold wind picks up, shaking the bright and colorful lights
That hang from the houses rooftops.
    Red, green, blue, orange...
They dance about on their wires,
Taking the places of the stars now blotted out by the heavy clouds.
They are the only lights as a clock strikes the hour into the dark morning.

First one, the two, then ten, and then hundreds.
What once was shapeless water tumbles down.
Unlike the water when it falls...
    This makes no sound,
But seems to steal it from the world around.

Quiet all around as the ice falls.
Quiet is the city as it is covered.

Enjoy the silence for the time it lasts.
    Much like the ice,
The silence will melt away as the day brings the sun to warm the world.
