• All during the rest of Spring Break, AZ tried talking to Kara, but she would not listen. She was gone and in town a lot. Finally, school started again. Blaze, being twenty years old, was already out of school and had a job at a hardware store. AZ was no longer in high school, so Kara was surprised to see him at the school. She was walking with Astrid and her posse, AZ nodded in greeting as he walked pass them.
Later that day, Kara was at soccer try-outs. She was talking to a few girls, when suddenly the girls stopped talking and giggled, blushing, following their gazes Kara saw who they were giggling over. It was Azreal, jogging across the field. “Meet my assistant coach, Azreal.” the coach announced as Azreal slowed to a stop beside him.
“I can’t believe you.” Kara said, annoyed. “What do you mean?” Azreal asked, calmly. “Can’t you just leave me alone? You already caused enough trouble.” she growled. “Assistant coach is my job, like I would want to be around you.” Azreal snarled before walking away.
Everyday after practice, Kara was unfriendly, but slowly she was losing the grudge she had against Az. One day, she missed the bus after practice and it had begun to rain. It was getting dark pretty quickly. She sat shivering and cold, unable to get inside because the doors were locked. Suddenly she felt something warm around her shoulders.
“Need a ride?” she heard a familiar voice ask. She opened her eyes and looked up to see Azreal standing over her. His leather jacket was what was wrapped around her slim shoulders. She nodded and he gave her a ride home in his pickup, luckily Blaze wasn’t home.
The next day a girl was reported dead from an attack by a large canine. The girl had bested Kara in soccer the day before, though nobody knew or thought of that. Torik was worried; he knew the only creature who could do that was one of them, a Loup-Garou.
He called for an emergency meeting to talk it over with his pack. Throughout the meeting, Azreal notices that Kara looked really nervous. He planned to catch her after the meeting and confront her about the look, but Torik asked to speak with him as everyone walked out, sighing heavily he stayed.
“Something wrong, boy?” Torik asked, hearing him sigh. “No, not at all.” he said quickly. Torik eyed him suspiciously, but asked “So how close are Kara and you?” “She hates me.”
“Really? Do you know why she seemed so nervous throughout the meeting?” Torik asked, cocking an eyebrow.
“She is still new to the pack and most likely the last meeting like this she was at was rather unpleasant.” Azreal replied. “Mhhm-well that’s all. You can go.” Torik said, waving a hand. Azreal stood and left quickly.
The next day after practice, Azreal stopped Kara. He waited until everyone left then asked pointedly “Can we talk?”
“Talk? No.” she said trying to walk away. He catches her again, roughly pressing her against the wall. “Everyone thinks you’re acting weird. Why? If you don’t tell me-I’ll have to-why are you looking at me like that?” he said, trying to be angry.
“I’m not acting weird.” she said, defiantly. “Yes you are-you’re always looking nervous or worried.” he says as proof. “Well…I…..I mean….oh…boys are so-oh” she said, trying to pull away. “Boys? I’m not talking about you acting weird like that-wait that’s why you’re acting funny-well then-I mean-wait what?” he said, getting confused-instead of pulling away, Kara leaned forward, kissing him. AZ kissed her back a little surprised. He lets go, gently running his fingers down her cheek, they continue to kiss.
“Azreal-Kara-what?!” the principal exclaims in disbelief. “Kara, I’m going to have to call your brother and Azreal-how could you? She is a student, I’m sorry, but you’re fired.” the principal said, still confused and disbelieving.
“No-I swear, Azreal-” Kara starts to say, but Azreal slips his hand over her mouth. “Started it, sir, I’m sorry, I’ll leave immediately.” Azreal confessed.
“Well then, it’s going on your résumé, son, and Kara, I guess you’re off the hook.” the principal said before walking away.
“Azreal, why did you do that?” Kara asked, ashamed that she had gotten him in trouble. He kissed her again, silently explaining. She watched, sadly, as he walked away.
