• As I walked down the dark, uneven path, my heart seemed to be rising in my throat. It seemed to want to burst out and survive on it's own, but couldn't. I knew what was coming. All my life ha been leading up to this moment. Nothing matters now, except that I come to protect. Of course, I will miss my family and my friends, but it will all be okay in the end.
Suddenly, I stopped. I had come to the end of the path, and now I was at the rusted, intracately carved gates. Holding my breath, I pushed the metal open so that I could just squeeze through, and walked on towards the large oak double doors.
I was now gulping the air, and had to stop for a second. But in that second, I had alerted the spirits taking refuge in that house of my presence. I saw them group around me and I had to respond when the head said, "What brings you here to our sanctuary?"
Sighing, I said, " I'm here to take you up on your offer. But you have to swear that you'll keep your side of the deal."
"Oh, but we always keep our promises."
And that was the last thing I heard before absolute silence.`1
