• A brisk afternoon is greeted by a wave of my hand
til the palm turns south and fulfills the demand

Just a couple pieces of "candy" here and now
to whisk away all my pains, somehow

Don't judge me! I say to the watchers nearby
with a smirk they chuckle at my game, so wry

You're no better than me, I do my part
why can't I have a few, they're for my "heart"

Giving them a cold sigh I take my leave
laughing in my face? What do they hope to achieve?

Always working meticulously for nothing more
than for little tasty tablets from old Doctor Moore

Consuming the weeks in serpent's lament
hardly scraping by, can barely pay rent

Ghost of a home this dark residence, my abode
where I lay my soul and rest life's arduous load

So I return to my bed each and every night
The prescription pillow an earthly delight

But, perhaps tonight could be a bit better?
What fun can be had always adhering to the letter?

Need to take risks, if the hurt is to subside
Drop them in, close your eyes, and enjoy the ride

It worked a little too well, I'd say
Never again shall I be able to greet the day...
