Chapter Five:
Shawn Harris blew things up.
So it was little wonder why when he and Claire walked into the science lab, people began to hide behind their notebooks and slide underneath their desks. The teacher had already broken out into a cold sweat and the two of them took their seats. Shawn had a huge smile on his face as he went to fetch his goggles. “Mr. Harris! We aren’t working with chemicals today!” the teacher shouted in their direction, causing Shawn to jump almost 3 feet in the air. He sulked back to his seat, resigned to fiddling with his bowler hat. Claire patted him sympathetically on the shoulder.
“It’s okay, Shawn,” she said, “You’ll get to blow stuff up eventually.” Shawn nodded, but continued to fiddle with his hat.
The next period was spent watching a science lab instructional video, though no one was paying any attention, especially Claire, who was too busy thinking about what was going to happen after-school. She was going to hang out with Faris after-school. Just him and her, alone together. Just the thought of him made her want to explode into a million pieces. She knew she was probably being stupid but she couldn’t help it; something about him made her blush as if on cue and something about him made butterflies start a revolution in her stomach. She sighed, leaning her head on the table in front of her. There didn’t seem like there was anything she could do about it. She would just have to see him after-school and hope for the best.
Everyone around her seemed to be sleeping or doodling. Shawn had finally put down his hat and had taken a nap with his head on the desk. Gerard Way was in front of her, drawing something in his notebook, Nick was in a deep sleep and close to drooling on his binder, Ray had nodded off as well and Angel was sticking bendy straws into his hair, and a million other things seemed to be going on at once. Claire tried to zone out and daydream but quickly snapped to attention when all her thoughts were about Faris undressing. “I don’t think I can do this…” she sighed heavily.

His name was Ian Watkins and to Andi, he was absolutely gorgeous. Why was it that this year, everyone seemed to be falling for masses of hair? Well, it wasn’t really his hair; Ian’s hair didn’t consume his face the way Faris’ or Bill’s did. It wasn’t really that big, it was just styled. His black bangs hung in front of his face and he was constantly brushing them away with his hand, revealing light hazel eyes that pulled Andi in and wouldn’t let go.
Right now, she was spying on him from behind her notebook. She was trying her best to be discreet but it was obvious to all the people in the classroom around her that she liked him. She had tried so hard to hide the fact for the past 3 years, so perhaps in her last year, she was getting a little sloppy. She kind of wanted him to find out; it would be a great relief to finally get it off her chest.
Right now, he was focusing on what the teacher was explaining and when he was focused, his features were stern. But when he smiled…good God, when he smiled, it seemed as though the whole world just stopped turning just so they could take a look. Ian was just that gorgeous.
Right now, Andi was thinking about all the other girls (and maybe guys) that must’ve liked him too. She was trying to block that out, though; they didn’t matter. Maybe this year would the year he would see that she was THE girl, the only girl for him. Yeah right. He was Ian ******** Watkins.
“Hey, Andi?” she couldn’t believe he was asking her a question. She couldn’t even believe he knew her name. “Yeah?” she managed to squeak out. “I need your opinion on something,” he told her in his Welsh accent. A small grin was playing across his features and she knew she was turning bright pink. “MY opinion?” “Yes, YOUR opinion. I hear you know a lot about music and I have a band started up and I’d really like to know what you think about it. Will you come over to my house after school?” It seemed impossible, like something out of a dream. Ian ******** Watkins was asking her over to his house, to hear his band. “I’d love to,” she said, grinning from ear to ear. This must’ve been what Heaven felt like.
