Chapter Twelve:
"EVACUATE!" Their science teacher shouted as smoke began to billow through-out the room. The students began to scream, shout, and push each other out of the science lab. When most of the class had reached the hallway, Shawn Harris, his clothes singed and blackened, his bowler hat on fire, walked out of the room with an awed look on his face.
"WOW," he breathed then a huge smile spread across his face. "That. Was. AMAZING!" He said. His teeth shone white against the black soot that was on his face. He tried to wipe it away with the back of his hand, which only smeared it around his face.
"SHAWN HARRIS!" The teacher came up screaming towards him. He grabbed the flaming hat off of the boy's head, smashed it underneath his shoe to put the flame out, then grabbed Shawn by the ear.
"This, young man, is the LAST time you're EVER in the science lab. And you have detention this Saturday, and the next Saturday. For the next year of your life, you're MINE." The class filed out of the science lab, secretly thanking Shawn for making a boring science class a million times more interesting and for getting them out of a double period of science.
Matt Devine brushed the soot off his prized army jacket and nearly skipped down the hallway from the science lab to the art room. He knew it was empty around this time of day and he smiled, hoping to get some photography work or film editing done. As he turned into the art room, his heart stopped short; Andi was in the art room alone, working on a drawing. She was in deep concentration and didn't notice him as he shuffle in, reaching for a roll of film, his eyes glued on Andi the entire time. Since he wasn't paying attention, the roll of film slipped out of his hand and onto the ground. Andi heard the noise and looked up. She smiled when she saw Matt.
"Hey, Matt. How are you today?" She asked him pleasantly. Matt simply started at her wide-eyed, his mouth moving but no words coming out. She giggled and retunred to drawing. "ANDI!" He nearly shouted at her. She jumped a little but smiled all the same. "There it is. I was wondering where your voice went." "How-how-how-how do you feel about the m-m-movie industry? Like, making them and stuff?" "The movie industry? I've always wanted to make a movie!" "Really?" He sighed. He finally loosened up a little. "What kind of movie?" "A horror movie," she said with a grin. Matt took a seat next to Andi. "I can help with that, you know. I have a lot of movie equipment at my house." "You do? I didn't know you were into that sort of thing. I mean, I know you like to take pictures but I didn't know you liked movies." "Yeah, me and Ray Toro chill and make movies all the time. He's got a great vision. But...I would like to learn more about YOUR vision, Andi." "Really? Wow, that's very sweet. No one's ever really cared about MY vision," she said, a slight blush on her face. Matt felt wonderful inside. He was finally connecting to Andi and he didn't have to smash his camera or shred his jacket. "Well, maybe you can come over to my house and we can figure something out," he said with a hopeful smile. "Oh yeah, of course! You're so sweet, Matt," she said. She gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Just as she kissed his cheek, 'Pretty Boy' Ian walked into the art room. He looked at the two of them, confusion etched on his face. "I should go," Andi whispered to Matt. She grabbed her drawing and walked over to Ian, who was too busy glaring at Matt to notice. She sighed. "I'll wait for you in the lunchroom," she said.
Matt grabbed his camera and a roll of film, trying to pretend that Pretty Boy wasn't there and that he could simply walk out of the room without anything going down. Ian had other plans. He slammed Matt against the wall, his back hitting the drywall hard. Matt had always been a skinny kid and not very strong; Ian definitely had the strength advantage. He hadn't been expecting that from Pretty Boy.
"Listen, Devine," he said through clenched teeth, his Welsh accent sounding especially menacing. "Don't even THINK about messing about with my girl, you got that?" "Hear you loud and clear," said Matt. He had no hope of fighting Ian so he didn't think of trying. Ian released his grip on Matt's shoulder and left the art room. Matt slid to the floor; he knew he had been bested. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair. His good mood had definitely disappeared.

"I'm not YOURS, Ian," said Andi, glaring at him with her arms crossed oer her chest. "What do you mean?" Ian asked, confused. "It means that if I want to hang out with Matt Devine and make movies, I will hang out with Matt Devine and make movies!" She whirled around and rushed down the hallway. Ian sprinted down the hallway, trying to catch up with her. "Andi, baby, darling, sweetheart! Please, that's not what I meant!" He pleaded. "Don't sweetheart me, Ian! And don't you sit next to me during lunch either!" She shrieked. She angrily opened the door to the lunch room and walked over to the table in a huff. She slid into the cafeteria table next to Ray. "Is Ian coming, Andi?" Frank asked. "NO!" She shouted at the boy, who shrank back into his seat. "Oh, I'm sorry, Frank. I'm just a little pissed, is all." "I noticed," he mumbled, looking at the table. Andi sighed and laid her head down on the cafeteria table's surface. No one asked what had happened and she wasn't in the mood to explain. The Gang decided to commence with lunch as usual.
