NOTE: Yeah, I had writers block. SUE ME. But I have returned. FEAR ME.
[LAWL, ILY GUYS]
Chapter Eleven:
Matt Devine was never seen without two things- his green army surplus jacket and his huge old camera. Both were second-hand. The camera had been given to him by his father and he loved it. His father taught him how to develop pictures in a dark room and how to get the perfect shot at the perfect angle and he had used all he learned to take amazing pictures. He had a small group of friends and he was always happy to take pictures for them. He also had a band called Kill Hannah, and he took the best promotional pictures for them and spread them around the school. He was sought after for his photography skills by the many other bands in the school and he made good money taking pictures, though if he was friends with the band, he would do it for a discount or for free.
He had bought his jacket at a thrift store when he was ten years old and had worn it ever since. There were a million different patches on it, running up and down the arms and across the back to cover up the holes and the threadbare pieces of fabric. When he had bought it, it had been way too big for him; now it fit perfectly and he never seemed to take it off. He lived in that jacket and when it needed to be washed, he went into withdrawals and wouldn't leave his room until it was cleaned. He was afraid that one day, his mom would throw his jacket away and he would never leave his room again.
Matt loved his camera and he loved his jacket but the one thing that he loved more than either of them was Andi. He would gladly smash his camera and rip his jacket in two if it would get him 10 minutes alone with his beautiful muse. He would secretly take pictures of Andi and he knew it was creepy and wrong but he couldn't help it. He was usually bold and outgoing but when he was around Andi, he melted into a puddle and his tongue instantly fell out on the floor. She was very sweet around him and she would try to talk to him but he froze up and could barely get any words out.
It was obvious from the start, though, that she liked that 'pretty boy' Ian Watkins and Matt had sat by helplessly as he watched him ask Andi to see his band in art class. He had the audacity to say it on his own turf! How dare that pretty boy ask his muse on his own turf!
It was a cold day in the middle of October. He and Ray Toro, who were close, were editing a short film they had taped a while ago in Matt's basement. During the editing process, the two of them took to gossiping, though whatever was said in the room stayed in the room. "Are you still scheming to get Andi?" Ray asked. Matt bit his lip and nodded. "Try telling her about your films. I heard that she's really interested in film making." Matt's heart leapt in his chest and a wide smile spread across his face. "Really? You swear?!" "Of course! Claire told me AND Sami told me," he said a matter-of-factly. Matt nearly jumped on Ray and gave him a huge hug. "God bless your all-knowing 'fro! I could kiss you!" "Oh Geez, save that for Andi," said Ray with a smile. "Hahahahaha, right, right," said Matt with a blush, "Hey, I still need to take a picture for you guys!" "Yeah, I know you do. But we have to wait for Gerard." "What's his problem?" "Oh, you know, he needs us to have matching outfits or some s**t," Ray said with a groan. He, Bob, Frank, and the Way brothers had a band that they called My Chemical Romance. Ray had enlisted the help of Matt to take promotional pictures for them but Gerard said that they couldn't take pictures without a certain style and he and Chels were busy coming up with the Chemical Style and the rest of the band just had to wait. "I'm sure it'll be fine. Gerard's a bit of a Goth, so you'll probably just be wearing a lot of black." "Yeah, but I was happy just wearing our jeans and t-shirts." "You never know. This could really help you guys. Having a certain style is never a bad thing. It helps people remember you better." "That's true. Fine, I'll stop bitching," Ray sighed.
"Anything else going down on the Chemical side of things?" "Well, you know that girl, Dani?" "Yeah, she's pretty. Why, you like her?" "No, not me. I mean, she's very nice and we're friends but it's Bob that has the huge crush on her." "Awwwwwwwww, that's sweet! Come to think of it, they would look cute together." "Yeah, they would but Bob's too shy to say anything." "I've been there." "You're STILL there." "******** off, Toro," Matt punched him in the arm with mock anger. Ray laughed. "Just ask her about films and I'm sure she'll be interested." "But she's dating Pretty Boy." "I know. He sits with us at The Table." "Really? Do they look happy?" "I'm not gonna lie to you. They look very happy. But it could be a fling. He's all style. You're substance." "Why thank you," he said with a hallow laugh. "You never know how she feels until you talk to her." Matt nodded.
"Hey, this will cheer you up- I heard that Avril Lavigne got crabs." Matt looked at him then the two of them burst into hysterical laughter. "Oh God, that's A M A Z I N G ! That definitely cheered me up. Now come on, we need to finish this."
