As the group ran off into the distance, Yuki stood to face the men. She knew that to keep her friends safe, she would have to stay one step ahead of the attackers. When the group left there was only three men, now there were at least ten. Keeping track of everyone and making tactical decisions was just getting harder.
Even though she failed every tracking test she ever took, Yuki was still able to keep track of five or so people with some accuracy. Her plan was simple, follow the group at a distance and keep the men far enough away that they lost track of the group.
After knocking out three of the men, her attackers began to scatter. As they did, a loud bang rang out across the open field. Itsuki was running around with his guns again. He loved his fire arms so much that he named each one, cried when they broke, gave them funerals, and could tell you all of their names, where he acquired them, how long they lasted, and names of the bullets they fired.
Since the best way to dodge Itsuki's bullets was to lay low on the ground, Yuki dropped down and crawled into the woods. She had seen one of the attackers running after the group.
Itsuki cleared the field pretty quickly. Most of the men were running back towards the town. They were mercenaries. The local villagers were full of them since the war had destroyed their livelihood. A group as large as they were would have cost over one billion. Local wages were about a hundred a year. When Itsuki realized that Yuki had traveled into the woods, he did the same. Itsuki come to find and capture Yuki at all costs.
When she finally caught up to her target, she found him standing up against a tree. He looked like he was waiting for her to catch up. He looked a little surprised as she approached. They began a staring match. Each waiting for the others opening move with their hands firmly on the hilts of their blades.
