Just wanted to share some video game stuff. Growing up the pastor of my church used to say video games were evil. Then again to him it seemed most forms of entertainment were evil. TV was evil, all books other than the Bible are evil, movies are evil, music that is neither classical or Church hymns are evil. You get the point. Anyway I've got 3 stories about how people have fowled up their lives because of their obsession with video games. I don't blame games. I blame the people, but seriously this is pretty stupid.
Last month a 22 year old mother shook her baby to death because the baby interrupted her farmville session. For such a boring game farmville can be pretty addictive, but seriously that's ridiculous. She was playing farmville and the baby started crying so she shook the baby. She then had a smoke to relax and then shook the baby again. If you're that obsessed with games you seriously need some mental help. She's going to prison now. Somewhere between 25 to 50 years is the estimated sentence but there's a chance of a life sentence.
Back in 2009 a man in Japan got married to a character in a video game. It was like the Sims or something. Seriously? A video game character? Rather than being in a real relationship with someone he just goes home to play video games and masturbate.
The final story is the worst. Apparently last spring a Korean couple let their child starve to death while playing video games. I just googled it and it turns out the game they were playing was a game to raise a virtual child. They let a flesh and blood child starve to death so they could raise a digital child. This couple is beyond hope. It takes a very strong addiction to forget you have a child long enough for that child to starve to death. That must have been at least a week or two. That is just insane.
