My freshman year of high school the physics teacher was arrested for having sexual relations with a student. I'm not sure why this came to mind but I just thought I would rant about it for a while.

Firstly the gender is a big deal. A lot of women complain about how they are treated worse than men. In this instance, and really sex offenders in general, women seem to be held in higher regard especially if they aren't ugly as s**t. You hear about a sex offender that's a male and a lot of bad things come to mind. You want them to die, you want them in prison forever, they are 100% pure evil, and so on. Now we hear about a female sex offender and if she is decent looking or better a lot of us think "damn, he must have been a lucky guy to get a piece of that!". Not all of us feel that way, but a lot of us do. This seems wrong to me.

Secondly I want to point out my disgust towards how people are viewed. The teacher was of course demonized for having a relationship with a student while the student was looked upon as a helpless victim. This relationship took place over the course of a summer at the TEACHER'S house and they had sex like 6 or 7 times. That's 6 or 7 times that the "poor helpless victim" willingly went to the teachers house to get some action. As far as I'm concerned the student is just as much to blame as the teacher. If a teacher is molesting or harassing a student sexually that is all the teachers fault but if both parties consent both should be blamed equally.

Thirdly I would like to point out male teachers with female students. Some girls try to seduce the teacher for better grades, or maybe because she just likes him. If he gives in to her advances and she is still going along with all of this how is this only his fault?

In our case it was a female teacher and male student. The results were mixed. Some demonized her, some pitied him, some figured he was just as much to blame.
