I've heard a lot of ignorant ******** say a lot of s**t about the Germans being Nazis. Apparently a lot of them still think they are the master race and hate Jews. This is coming from people who don't look up German policies and don't communicate with people from Germany so they just assume once a Nazi always a Nazi. The thing is Germany these days is extremely anti Nazi. There are probably still some of them left, but the country as a whole shouldn't be demonized.

The holocaust was bad. Everybody knows that. Still we won't let them live it down. Anytime someone gets pissed off at Germany they bring up Nazis even though most of the Germans that were even alive during that era have long since died. Those who refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat it so we keep reminding them what they did was bad even if the people we are reminding weren't even alive when it happened.

Germany has to live with the shame of teaching their kids that their ancestors are bad people, yet Germany is so extremely anti Nazi that Nazi related media is banned. For example one of the biggest first person shooters was Wolfenstein 3D. You're an American that kills Nazis. It's banned in Germany. The theme song for the game is the Nazi national anthem Die Fahne Hoch. I'll agree that was probably in bad taste but the song is banned in Germany. I've listened to the song and read the lyrics it was about being proud of your people, not about hating others.

Anyway the game had that song and there were swastika flags, portraits of Hitler, and other various Nazi symbols so the game was banned. The point of the game is that the Nazis are the bad guys and you kill them. It doesn't glorify them at all, but it still contains Nazi symbols so it's banned.

Then again German censorship is pretty strict even without Nazis. Strange because they have bands like Rammstein... Anyway a German legal version of Wolfenstein 3D was made where they had to remove all Nazi symbols. Attack dogs had to be replaced with giant rats. The blood was turned green like we're fighting some sort of alien. The theme music was changed. I'm surprised they didn't change the sprites for the regular guards. making them something else and changing the weapons so they could remove every trace of Nazis from the game.
