Week Fifteen: Taking Care of Business Hey guys, it's been an insane week, and next week will be even worse. I'm crunching big time on trying to get my ULTRA-SECRET UBER PROJECT done ... so maybe we'll get to see it soon! That also somewhat accounts for my lateness posting this (mixed with the fact that I'm wicked tired today). It's also not going to be very meaty, on account of everything I have to do. Sorry guys! Deadlines: The Dark Side of Gaia The deadline for my project is coming up and it has me (and the 2 others who are helping me code it) going nuts trying to make sure everything works as expected. So while we have Snacktopia, ping pong, and a crazy cast of characters we ARE expected to work... sometimes rofl So I've been staying in late most of the week trying to make sure everything is taken care of so I don't hold up the others on the project (and I'm sure they're doing the same for me). It can get pretty stressful, but fortunately there are plenty of ways to decompress around here. Roger Waters: The Dark Side of the Moon If you've never heard of Pink Floyd, I weep for you and your ancestors. I had the good fortune to see Roger Waters, lead singer and songwriter of Pink Floyd, perform The Dark Side of the Moon (their seminal 1973 magnum opus). The old guy's still got it. I welled up with tears a few times. It's not often you get to see an album of that importance played by one of the original creators. If any of you younguns haven't checked it out yet, I SRSLY recommend getting your hands on a copy and listening to it from start to finish 3982 times like the rest of us! Other Programmers: The Dark Side of Debugging I just fixed the Daily Chance error where if you didn't have anybody in your Friendlist, the Daily Chance wouldn't show up on the MyGaia page. This was caused by a small chunk of code just before the Daily Chance code which said "If they don't have any friends, stop processing." Little tiny things like this account for a lot of bugs on Gaia (and any application) and you usually can't hunt them down until they cause an obscure error like this. Fortunately our coding practices and our design sense has been getting a lot better - so bugs are much less frequent (and getting fixed a lot faster!) than they used to be. Getting What You Want: The Light Side of Complaining So users complained enough about the gold granting system that we went and changed it for ya! Inevitably, there are going to be a lot more complaints. The GCD looovvesss to pick apart anything we do. But then, that's why I love the GCD XD Moo? For those of you haven't been paying attention all week, cows have appeared on the World Map. We even finally updated the World Page to reflect it! I wonder what that's all about eek

	yay, Pink Floyd. i've still got to listen to that album while watching the Wizard of Oz. good luck on your project, hopefully it will feel like behaving for you. why is it called a trench? the part of me obsessed with geology is asking that, since a trench (that i know of) is where an oceanic plate is subducted under another plate. could that mean a volcanoe on the world map?

	Is your uuber secret project for halloween? Is it? Is it? curiouser and curiouser Ah! I love the Floyd! Especially Echos Part 1 and Comfortably Numb. Ever since I first heard Comfortably Numb (probably when I was 7 or so) I've thought it was a beautiful song. If I need to just chill out and think of nothing, I listen to all of my Floyd MP3s. I wonder if my dad has any of their LPs... he's a fan as well! Who's Rancher Bill? Is he named after anyone?

You should take a break, by going to the moon.. er wait serious? Yeah, ok after your work is done. Go home and sleep. It's what I do when I get stressed from all the old ladies asking me to load up their toilet paper and old lady diapers.

	Cant say im the biggest fan of pink floyd, but ive listened to some songs.. Very good songs. I cant wait till the secret project is done, all I ask is that you dont get stressed out.

	The concert sounded awesome! You dont hear of many people who work for Gaia updating on things outside of Gaia. (It's kind of creepy. XD). After the new maps were introduced, I was immediately disheartened. The GCD picked it apart so quickly. Even though I like the GCD I dont because they ruin such good things crying

	Comfortably Numb ^^ Mah favorite song. Pink Floyd's Awesome. I actually cried when Syd died ;_; I listen to Pink Floyd a lot, like, every night a lot, along with Aerosmith and GnR XD (and some Zepplin, too). Sounds like you guys have been working your asses off, hmm? Hope ya'll can hold up. I can't wait to see the feature ^^ Heh, yeah, I actually like the new gold system. I'm making my 1k a day again. 	Goodluck with your project ^.^ I hate small errors like that block of code you mentioned ive been practising my coding since it slipped since i finished uni and the amount of silly things i do is staggering So lucky, getting to program something, and watching thousands of peole enjoy it thats what i wana do one day ^.^ (except not php, i think its a ugly language! and maybe with less complainers 4laugh )

	I've heard about the AWSOMENESS of thier concerts from my dad. And IF you guys have a VHS copy of "The Wizard of Oz", play Darkside of the moon with it. I did that with my parents once, and it's really cool. sweet yer UBER TOP SECRET PROJECT is in it's final stages. I can't wait to b***h and moan praise it to death. xd
