Hero of the story. A simple guy whom gets caught up in the eternal battle between the Gaurdians and the Shadow Kahvoks.
He comes into possetion of THE SWORD a.k.a the most powerful weapon that the Gaurdians were ever given. Which, in turn, makes him the target of Kahvok's shadows and a brand-new group. The new group are three "people" whom are family. Zeren Maldovah, Fear Maldovah, and Vex Maldovah. They hunt for Weapons and Zeren harbors a deep-seated hatred towards Kahvok and his shadows for some reason.
Eventually, using The Sword, Vern accidently releases Kahvok, much to the shadows joy. Unfortunatelly, Kahvok chews out the shadows for not releasing him themselves, not continuing his evil-purging quest, and overall just being lazy. He calls Vern his new servant and drags him along to help take over the world.
