Emi's ramblings
Sometimes I babble about stuff. Sometimes people care.
92. My Dying Bride, 91. Godflesh
92. MY DYING BRIDE - Perhaps the easiest way of summing up the unusual appeal of My Dying Bride is by saying that misery loves company. Dark, heavy and eminently disturbing, this unit can find a cloud on any sunny day.
Latest Release - Bring Me Victory (2009) EP
My Opinion - My Dying Bride is a band that, once you hear their music, they stick with you for a long time. It's all so slow, so deep, so dark. The vocals are actually sung, and fairly well for that matter, and create a semi-gentle contrast to the often heavy instuments, although often, the instruments themselves are also much lighter and, to use the same phrase, gentle in their own way. Deeper Down is definitely one of their best in my opinion, but my favorite will always be Roads, a piece that's always the first to come to mind when I think of this unit. I'll give 'em a four. ninja ninja ninja ninja

91. GODFLESH - By playing industrial rock with threads of death and doom metal thrown in for good measure, Godflesh started as a band willing to take more than their share of musical chances. Sometimes that approach works brilliantly... sometimes it doesn't.
Latest Release - Messiah (2003) EP Reissue
My Opinion - I'm not at all sure how to describe this band, to be quite honest... I mean, they put out an interesting sound, though I can't say it's something I'd listen to very much. The vocals remind me of Mastodon's Blood and Thunder, but that's about the only thing that this band has going for them in my eyes. I can't really give them any higher than a two. mrgreen mrgreen
