• Wynter's long brown hair was curly today. Sometimes it was wavy, sometimes it was curly. Today, she guessed, was just one of those curly days. It was Monday, which meant that Joseph would be stopping by to walk with her to school. She slipped on a crimson shirt and dark green skirt. Wynter smiled. She grabbed her backpack and went off. She had forgotten all about Gina and Lisa Brown. But, it didn't matter now.

"Hey, Wynnie." Joseph smiled. He had been waiting at the stairs for five minutes. Wynter grinned. She grabbed his arm and rushed out the door. But, there, standing before them, were the Brown twins. Wynter's face fell.

"Why, lookie here, Lisa." Gina smiled icily, crossing her arms. Lisa ignored her sister, and walked off. "Whatever." She rolled her eyes, then returned to look at Joseph and Wynter. "Hi, there." She said, smiling. "I'm Wynter's best friend, Gina. My sister, she ran off, she's Lisa." Gina said sweetly. Joseph looked at Gina in disgust. Wynter sighed.

"Um, we have to go. Right, Wynnie?" Joseph asked hopefully. Wynter nodded vigourously. She smiled and the two ran down the street. Gina looked aghast, and stood there, flabbergasted. Lisa was sitting on a bench nearby and snickered.

"Shut up, Lise." Gina said, finally able to speak. "If WynWyn wants to play that way, she can."

"So, do you want to go?" Wynter asked hopefully. She was desperate. "You see, this is my first birthday, and, well......I've never had any friends...." Joseph nodded.

"I'm going." He said, grinning. "But.....are you sure that you've never had friends?" Joseph asked.

"Well, Gina used to be my best friend." Wynter said finally. "But over the years, she's become-"

"Different?" Joseph asked, leaning on the car. They were walking home. Wynter nodded. "Well, I've got to go now. I'll be there." He said, grinning. Wynter smiled and rushed off.

Mrs. McDonald walked towards Joseph. "She invited me to her birthday. Should I convince her to invite the Brown twins?" He asked. Mrs. McDonald nodded.

"You what?!" Gina asked, a bit flustered. Joseph nodded, his arms crossed. "No way, that creep is a dummy." She said, turning. Joseph grabbed her shoulder.

"Please, Gina. Don't you miss being Wynnie's friend? At least come for a while.......you can come with Lisa." Joseph said, his voice wavering.

"Oh, alright." Gina said, her eyes cold. Lisa stood behind her, beaming. "What are you beaming about, Lise?" She asked icily.

"I knew you and Wynter could work it out!" Lisa smiled. Gina glared at her.

"So you're coming?" Joseph asked again. He needed to go, or Wynter would get suspiscous. Gina rolled her eyes, and nodded reluctantly while Lisa nodded vigourously. "Great." He rushed off.

"That McDonald boy is strange, but cool." Lisa said, smiling warmly. Gina shrugged.

    "Whatever."
