So FPS Russia made a new video featuring the AUG A3. I'm a fan of the AUG rifle. Haven't fired one so I have no real experience with it. It still looks good, and I like the ambidextrous capability. If you're a south paw you can reverse the bolt handle and ejection port.
One thing I noticed in the video is how he shot the block of ice. He said he was worried about the bullets ricocheting and potentially hitting his crew. He used steel core penetrator rounds which is a steel bullet with a copper jacket. The block of ice disintegrated no problem. He attributed those results to the penetrators.
He definitely knows guns well so I won't call him stupid. I've had experience with ice blocks as well though. They're hard, but brittle. The shock of impact of bullets is transferred through the whole thing and is guaranteed to crack the ice. Most of my shooting experience is actually with .22lr. I can't see how a heavier projectile moving at a faster speed will bounce off the ice while the lighter bullet goes right through. I haven't tested .22 short but I am confident it would penetrate as well. The next weakest projectiles would be out of an air rifle. I'm sure a pellet gun could bounce, but an actual firearm will go right through.
Regular bullets will penetrate just fine. That's not to say the penetrators were boring. I still enjoyed the penetrators. The tracers were my favorite. Looked like a bunch of fireflies.
Another Youtube channel I enjoy is Iraqveteran8888. They can get pretty political and opinionated. If you don't want to hear rednecks talking about political stuff just ignore the Gun Gripes series. Other than that they have a lot of good material. It's not as flashy as FPS Russia. FPS is more for just showing off. IV8888 is more educational. They offer a lot of tips on good guns to own, hand loading tips, and some how to stuff.
