Chapter 3 Guelph
“Claire!” shouted Carla happily. “I’m here with Britt and Chels is on her way. So the world is gonna end, huh?” “I guess so. Sami called me and we decided to get The Aiden Family together before it does. I mean, IF it does.” “Well, if it’s not, this is a pretty big hoax to be pulling off.” “I know. It’s really scary…” “It’s too late to do anything about it now,” sighed Carla in sadness. “The human race has made their beds and now we have to lie in them.” “Or burn in them.” “Or that.” “Sami is looking for Aiden and seeing where they were touring last,” said Claire, trying to change the burning subject. “They’re probably going back to Seattle but we can meet them there. I just hope we can do it.” “We’re The Aiden Family! We can do anything!” said Carla. The two girls giggled. “Well, I always wanted to go to Seattle but never under these circumstances.” “Yeah, I know what you mean. But you have to take what life throws at you and this is it,” Carla was establishing herself as the optimist. “And besides, if we’re meeting Aiden and the world’s gonna end, you have to tell wiL Francis how you feel about him!” “WHAT?!” Claire could feel her face break out into a heated blush. “YOU HAVE TO! I mean, if the world’s gonna end, you only have one chance!” Claire could hear the phone being snatched away and another voice on the line. “Yeah Claire, you have to tell wiL,” said Britt. “What makes me special?! Don’t you think that every other wiL Francis obsessed teenie is going try and find him to tell him the same thing?” “Maybe, but you’re the only one he’s gonna care about,” Britt said, trying to keep the phone away from Carla, who was yelling affirmations as loud as she could. “I doubt that’s true.” “We don’t have enough time to doubt. We have 8 days to live our lives; that’s IT! HEY!” Carla had finally wrestled the phone back. “You have to take the chance that he does love you, Claire.” Claire was silent on the other end. She knew Carla and Britt were right but she didn’t want to risk telling wiL how she felt and then being rejected. Not on one of her last days on earth. “Claire, if you don’t tell him, me and the rest of The Aiden Family will. Right Britt?” “RIGHT!” Claire bit her lip. “Okay fine. I’ll think about it.” “We WILL tell him.” “I said I’d think about it,” the girl mumbled, her face covered in the blush. Carla laughed. “If I didn’t know any better, I would think it’s just another normal afternoon.” “Yeah, me too. It hasn’t really hit me yet,” said Claire. “Me neither. But I’m not gonna waste away in Canada just in case.” “Good plan. Listen, I’m gonna call Sami back now. Try and get in touch with the other members of The Aiden Family.” “Will do, Sport.” Carla hung up the phone and looked over to Britt, who had sat down at the computer and was now staring at the computer screen. “Is anyone from The Aiden Family on?” She asked her friend. “Nope. I have no clue about Mandy. Her internet’s still on the fritz.” “Well, we have to get in touch with her one way or the other. Let’s wait it out, okay?” Britt nodded as Carla slumped in a chair. She didn’t know if this plan would work but it had to be tried. She grabbed a nearby pillow and hugged it to her chest.
