Log of imperial General Richard Striker
Log of Commander Richard;Cetrus Prime day 02
*We were sitting in a circle trying to keep our asses from freezing off, some nice 5 minute break. Dillon opened his pack of lho-sticks, grabbed one, and then turned to me. "Hey Richard, you want a smoke? it'll heat ya up man." I was staring off into the distance when he asked me, without turning, I responded. "No thanks...I dont smoke."

I was walking in the lonely streets where even a tack would make the loudest of sounds. This city used to be riddeled with civilians and life, however war finally made its way to this planet and now the city was a desolate place, where even the rats wouldnt find food or shelter. “Get me a Tech-priest(1) so I can get those generators built”. I demanded. “Sir I really think you should revise your tactics”. replied Gebbet. I stopped as if he just threatened my life. I turned to him slowly and said with peircing eyes. “Know your place commissar for if you were a guardsmen(2) you would have a bullet in your head by now”. Gebbet(3) immediately silenced himself in fear that I would execute him for disobeying me. I then said "If you dont approve of my ideas, then stay and monitor the base, ill radio if I need assistance". I rarely take lives of my men, though I must instill fear into them, for fear insures loyalty. I continued walking down the decrepit city glancing around as I advanced. However While I was walking with the tech-priest a familiar smell came to my nose. A smell so rotten yet so familiar. I then saw a trickle of blood fall to my feet. I looked up in awe and saw dead guardsmen hanging by a rope upon the city….apparently a keep away note. Their faces looked shriveled and decayed, how long have they been here? this city was overan 3 months or so ago. I can only pray they didn't beg for mercy, and died a hero's death.

I radioed Gebbet and said “Gather a squad of guardsmen and tell them to gather the bodies from the city streets, they are not to say a thing about this to anyone, and whoever leaks will be executed”. While the tech-priest was under way building the Plasma generator the sergeant of the guardsmen squad said “Sir, these troops arent old, they're fresh. From the looks of them it was only a week or longer ago. They were from the 103 Cetrus Prime." “fresh?" I inquired "When did the orks get these guardsmen….were they hiding?” as soon as the words left my lips the tech-priest just finished with the plasma generator. I stopped thinking about the bodys and said to the techpriest “build turrets around the depot”. Suddenly my eye cought somthing some would consider insignificant. a infantry command was off to the distance. The Rockcrete was breached and rubble lay everywhere around it. It must of been destroyed in the defense of the city. I walked over to the infantry command slowly...quietly... I stepped through it and looked down a dug hole the imperial guard use as a tunnel network. I lowered my head, closed my eyes and listened. I could hair the feint sound of voices, but they weren't guardsmen, they were alot more griddy and crude. All of a sudden the voices stopped. Was that in my head? mabye this desolate city is playing with my head. I walked back to the generator depot with my hand on my temples. Then I stopped...and slowly rose my head.

"Out of the silence I heard a thump, a thump so hard you could feel the sound waves glistening by you. It was followed by 2 thumps then 5 thumps then 20 thumps. I slowly looked to the infantry command and saw the orks standing there slamming their axes to the ground slowly, then it progressed faster and faster. Their faces were slowly smiling, showing their razor sharp teeth which were as sharp as a chainsword. Their blood red eyes craving for a fight. I quickly looked to see if my guardsmen squad were still there…they were not. Without turning my eyes from them I pulled out my swords and stood ready to face the onslaught. My glare fixed on their every move, every breath, every motion of their limbs. One of the orks then shouted in a booming voice “WAAAGH” then the others shouted in sync with him and charged at me and the depot. If the orks want to destroy the generators, they're going to have to kill me first. I fired my duel bolters into the mob of them, however they used the frontline orks as meatshield and once they died they started carrying them to absorb the bullets. My bolters then started clicking, out of ammo. Then one of them leapt at me and went to slash at my face. Before I knew it the orks were up to melee range, I was in luck however because I couldn't be circled, I was in the gateway of the generator depot. One of them slashed at my chest, I sidestepped and cut off his head. Then another tried to get me after I sidestepped, I blocked his axe and with my other sword I chopped off his leg. The orks were becoming a little hesitant in their attack against me, waiting for a chance to strike. The ork that was missing a limb fell to his knees and I quickly plunged 1 of my swords into his chest . I went to pull the sword out but the damn thing got stuck in his iron skin. “DAMNIT” I yelled. The other orks took this opportunity to try to kill me. But I released my grip on the sword and while the impaled ork was on his knee I grabbed his pistol and shot 3 of the orks in the head. I then dropped the pistol and quickly kicked the ork off the blade. I couldn’t hold them off forever...fatigue started to kick in...it seemed the harder I fought the more they wanted to fight. I'v faced worse I thought....then to my surprise I saw a stream of bullets fly past me and ripped through the orks skin...I looked in shock and saw the tech-priest had finally finished the gun turret. I forgot I told the tech-priest to build it. The orks then used rockets as jetpacks to fly across the river to swarm the depot. However I swore I saw one of the orks fly in another direction and explode midair.... I grabbed 2 guns off of the previous dead orks and started firing at the jetpacks on their back. When one blew up the other one would and this caused a chain reaction of explosions. I didn’t need to worry about the plasma generators being damaged, the tech-priest was repairing them faster then the damage of the explosions could inflict. all of the turrets had finally been built and fired upon the swarm and they quickly fell. After the depot had finally been defended I made a mad dash down the street towards the main HQ. I haven't had to run this hard and fast for years. A Guardsmen saw me running to the base covered in blood and with a awed loon on my face. "sir....are you...okay?". My mind was so focused that I ignored him and ran into the HQ. When Gebbet saw me he was surprised, but before he could say anything i said "what the hell have we gotten ourselves into!” *END TRANSMISSION*
