• Bad Dreams?

    December 30, 2007

It was early in the morning when the lightening struck; shaking the ground in a menacing anger as the thunder sounded. I bolted up straight as I was startled out of sleep. I ran out to the window on the other side of the room looking, hoping, it wasn’t what I thought it was. The sky was light blue with thin black clouds stretched over it.
Something wasn’t right. I took one last look again and this time the thin black cloud’s all around the sky twisted in different directions getting thicker by the minute.
A shiver went down my spine as I instinctively wrapped my arms around my waist. The feeling of danger making my stomach hurt so much I almost fell to my knees, curling into a crumpled mess on the floor. My instincts screaming at me to run from this while my gut twisted still making it worse. I was in my sisters room shaking Anna in seconds as if I was never in my room to begin with. “Anna… Anna! Wake up and listen to me!” I nearly shouted while shaking her. She swatted my hands away and sat up right begrudgingly.

    “What?” she snapped

“You got to get dressed ASAP and help me wake the others. Once your done get some of the items you need and meet me in the living room.” at that I ran down stairs waking up Sarah my oldest sister as I saw Anna out of the corner of my eye run to our parents room; relaying my message.
It took a couple minutes for everyone to get dressed and go into the living room. My mouth hung open slightly. “You got to be kidding me” I nearly cried all they did was get dressed. “We need to hurry. Why didn’t you get your things?”

Mom spoke up first “Susanne what is going on? Why did you wake us up?”

“Please you guys have to trust me this once. If you don’t just look out the window.” I said more urgently “Grab as much things that are important to you guys.” I turned to Sarah and Anna “Sarah I need you to get the dogs into dads van and Anna put the cats in Moms van I’ll explain to you all when were outside.”
More agonizingly slow minutes later I put the luggage in the back of both vans with the others help. As dad leaned up against the van in the garage and mom was leaning outside on the other van. They were both looking at the sky worried now. As sheer black clouds were moving in twisting ways ABOVE the house. Vicious lightning striking every direction with thunder at its heels. Soon it spread out farther and farther making everyone start to panic. I made them get into the cars and locked up in their seats. Personally I sat with the dogs in the back of the first van with mom driving where I told her to go. Sarah with the cats and dad driving the second van closely behind us. We sped across the empty valley towards the only house I thought safe.
Tornados burst through the almost black sky. Destroying everything behind us that was once so familiar. I had to cover my ears from the loud sounds, shaking my head with theirs streaming down my cheeks constantly. The scenery was passing by as if a blur. I looked ahead of us seeing the 3 story house like mansion and its beautiful gates waiting open for us as we finally reached it. Going straight to the garage on our right both cars stopped. Barely any light was left when I got out and pressed a button on the wall to our left. A huge square part of the floor around the two cars started to lower. Sending us 50, 60, then 70feet under ground as the garage above closed blocking the light entirely besides the two cars high beams.
As we reached the bottom I got up from the floor I just sat on and led everyone and the pets down a tunnel to an air sealed door. I punched in the code to open it with them going inside meeting up with the other towns people that made it in time. I had called them earlier and asked them if they saw those black twisting clouds to come to this place immediately asking Vinnie and his brother Andy if they could go into the underground passageway with a message from me saying they could.
I led them to a judge living room and dropped my bag. So I could get the rest I left them. Almost running to the cars again I grabbed all I could going back and forth to the living room. On my last load I was almost half way back when the lights from the vans went off.
I froze their. Net even able to move when I got thrown backwards into a wall. The items I had dropped carelessly on impact. I tried to get up only to fall again. Wincing from it. Some thing was attacking me and I couldn’t even see or figure out what. That a searing pain shot through my back as I got into a half standing position. I screamed feeling the darkness coming closer for the last blow. I fell slowly to the cold floor when I felt two protective arms catch me calling my name.

Well that is what happened before I bolted out of my bed only to realize it was all a dream. That felt so real. To the point I found out I almost screamed out loud and a stinging from my back kept me up for the rest of the night. I couldn’t even move.
