brain numbing blab ^ ^
random babbles
ha ha haaaa.... update.
Author: DON'T SHOOT!!
Kanda: give me one good reason....
Lavi: Cuz that's a sword, not a gun?
Allen: don't talk to fast lavi, you might hurt his delicate brain...
Kanda: how about I stab YOU in the brain. And I'll even do it nice and slow so you don't get confused!
Allen: Oh, nice one BAKANDA. Have you been preparing that for a few weeks or a few years?
Kanda: Beansprout...
Lavi: well, while those two are finishing up their little lovers quarrel...
Allen&Kanda: WHAT?!
lavi: I'd love to know why you think we're going to shoot you author chan?
Author: Oh gee, thanks. Remind them right when they get sidetracked...
Lenalee: Aw, come on author chan! It can't be that bad!
Lavi: Seriously! It's not like your... i dunno... leaving us forever... right? ... author chan...? RIGHT!?
Author: no, no, don't get your panties in a bunch.
Lavi: How did you know i was wearing panties?
Author: ...
Group: ...
Kanda: We pretend it was never said, and never speak of this again.
Group: agreed.
Lavi: what?
Author: ANYWAY, on a non perverted point, I'm taking a short hiatus from my story while i gather my thoughts on this battle scene. But, as a sweet treat for my fan, I'm writing a short story!
Allen: Aw, see author chan? it's not that bad! I'm sure your fan would love to hear another cute little story!
Author: ...
Allen: author chan?
Author: i might as well just say it.... it's not cute, its not little, and... and...
Group: AND?!
Author: and I'm pretty sure its going to have yullen in it. *dies*
kanda: ... I'm leaving.
Allen: it was nice knowing all of you, but I'm going to go kill myself now.
Author: and possibly laven...
Allen: WHAT?!
Lavi: oh sweet! Com' ere Allen-chan!!
Allen: noooo! Someone help mee!!
Author: don't hate me!! it's nothing serious... i just... think its super cute. AND, as an ACTUAL reason, there are... (counts on hands) FIVE parts that need filling, and FIVE of you! so there!
Allen: but author chan... there are only FOUR of us. Me, Bakanda, Lavi, and Lenalee.
Author: you're forgetting one important component...
Komoui: LENALEE CHAAAAAN!!!
Lenalee: oh god. -_-
Komoui: *glops lenalee* Your brother loves you sooo much!
Lenalee: nii-saaaaan...
Author: and we get to see just how much he loves you in this story!
Group: huh?
Lavi: don't tell me... author chan... that komoui... and lenalee...
Author: OH GOD NO. If there is one thing that i WILL NOT write, it happens to be incest. not happening. -_-
Group : *sighs of relief*
Author: alright, dearest fan of mine, This is the important stuff. Get your attention? alright, so here's the deal. This story is going to follow the plot line of the 3 songs, Daughter of Evil, Servant of Evil, and Message of Regrets. I love those songs so much, and just started getting back into them, and i REEEEEALLY want to do this story over them. <3 HOWEVER. there are five parts, and obviously one girl, so... that's the problem. Now, i promise there wont be anything... graphic. And I'll try to keep it simple. I'm used to seeing Allen and Kanda together, but i know you're not. (or are you... *eyebrow wiggle*) so... yeah. I'll do my best, but if you really don't want to read it... then just leave a note or something, and I'll alter it to "friendship". 3nodding It just makes so much more sense to say love though... *dreamy face* geeze, I'm like a school girl or something. -_-
Kanda: are you done?
lavi: yuu-chan! i thought you had left?!
kanda:... the doors are all sealed shut.
Author: i gotta remember to pay that cement guy...
Group: Oh dear god.
Author: DING!
Lenalee: Turkey's done?
group: *stare*
Lenalee: sorry...
Author: i just had a WONDERFUL idea...
Lavi: ooh really!? do tell!!
Kanda: we're doomed.
Allen: so doomed.
Author: to make life a LITTLE bit easier for my beloved fan... I'm going to make Allen A GIRL! Then it's not so weird! right?
Allen: ... WHY ME?! MAKE THAT IDIOT BAKANDA A GIRL!
Author: hmmm... well... i guess i could do that...
Kanda: i WILL kill you. *brandishes Mugen*
Author: well one of you is being a girl, like it or not! and Allen is small, and petite, and fits that role, so it's ALLEN!
Allen: why always me... TT^TT
Lenalee: oh, this is going to be excellent...
Author: and so... with no further interruption (maybe a little here and there) i present to you...

The Story of Evil: D. Gray Man Style. wink

Part 1- Daughter of Evil

A long, long time ago, in a place very far away, lived a kingdom ruled by a treacherous princess of only 14 years...

"Lenalee chan!"
The dainty princess looked up, ignoring the jingle of the ornamental beads decorating her dark hair. 3'o clock, she smiled and watched as her main servant waltzed into the room, twirling with a plate in hand. He took it upon himself to make her a snack and have it in her room at three. He skipped over to the table where she had been reading mail, and placed the tray down, pulling away to reveal the delicious lunch inside.
"Today's lunch is brochette, Madam." the servant said with an air of snootiness. The princess giggled, covering her pink lips with a well manicured hand. She smiled up at the servant, who looked back at her with eyes that mirrored her own. In fact, their entire faces were mirrors. This servant was her twin brother, Komoui Lee.
"Nii-san, you don't have to be so formal!" Lenalee giggled, moving the mail aside and pulling the plate toward her.
"But my princess!" the servant gasped, "How could I ever speak to the lady of the palace, Ms. Lenalee Lee, Queen of the Green Kingdom and the most BEAUTIFUL princess in all the land, with out a hint of snoot in my voice?!" He looked completely appalled at the idea, which sent lenalee into another fit of giggles.
"Mou, Nii-san, quit being silly! I've got work to do you know!"
"Just don't frown to much! You'll get wrinkles!" he joked, poking her forehead. He glanced at the mail on the table, reading a few lines, before sighing.
"We're short on money again?" he sighed.
The princess nodded. "We'll just raise the taxes again. Those people have money to spare, so it should be fine."
"But... lenalee-chan.."
"It's fine Nii san! Now, could you be kind and hook Josephine up to the cart? I need to go to the Golden Kingdom for a bit."
"As you wish, my lady." Komoui bowed before leaving the room.
"Nii-san..." Lenalee sighed. Then she turned back to the table. Hidden under some of the stacks of mail was a photograph. She pulled it out, sighing as she did. On the photo was a picture of a strapping young prince. His sapphire eyes were dark and sharp, but also looked kind. His ebony hair was pulled into a high dignified ponytail, and his mouth was set into a small frown. Lenalee sighed again, dreamily staring at the photograph.
It was Prince Kanda, the heir to the Blue Kingdom. His father, Lord Tiedoll was the last of the remaining kings in the four kingdoms. Prince lavi, of the Red Kingdom, had lost his parents long ago, and was now working with an old advisor, called sir bookman. The remaining kingdom, the Gold Kingdom, was watched over by a kindly princess called Lady Allen. She was adopted into royalty by the previous king, Lord Mana, who had been murdered only a few years ago by his own brother, who was then banished from the kingdom. Allen had still been young at the time, but had succeeded the throne beautifully. However, she was now rather weak of heart, and her golden hair had turned a beautifully heart wrenching white, and her eyes were now silver like the moon. Lenalee smiled a bit. All four of them had been close when they were little. Actually, make that five. Lenalee could remember a time before her and her brother had been separated, when all five of them would play together. She could still remember lavi's teasing, and Kanda's grumbles, and Allen's laugh that sounded just like a little bell...
But what she remembered the most was Kanda's beauty. Even as a child, she had loved him dearly, but the boy had never shown any interest in anyone. Now, she was of age to wed, and had her eye on him.
"Lady lee?"
Lenalee turned to see a different servant at the door.
"I though i told you to kneel on the floor when addressing me!" she snapped, angry at being pulled from her nice daydream.
"My apologies Lady Lee!" the servant cried, falling to the floor. "Komoui wished me to inform you that the cart is ready, and that the weather is beautiful."
Lenalee's frown eased into a smile at the thought of her brother, and she nodded in acknowledgement.
"Alright." she said. "Go tell him that I will be there shortly."
***

"Yuu chan!!"
A red blur came flying from the right. Kanda simply took a step back, sticking out one foot, and the blur flew to the ground with an 'UMPH!'
"Baka-usagi. Tackling me while we were children may have worked, but I've grown wise to your ways." Kanda sneered.
"Aw, Yuu-chan!" The red form on the ground whined. He stood up, brushing away the dirt from his ornamental clothing, and pulling his red hair from his eyes. Prince lavi flashed a dashing grin. "Does that mean you thought of me while you trained?" he laughed.
"Idiot." kanda snapped, readjusting his clothing. Lavi looked him once over.
"Woah, Someone looks casual." and lavi was right. Instead of the strict armor that Kanda usually wore, (I keep thinking of Marth and Roy, and it's making me laugh.) He was dressed way down, in casual clothing, that might actually keep him from being noticed in a crowd, if it weren't for the sword at his belt, and the high ponytail that was the signature of the blue prince.
Kanda immediatly blushed, giving Lavi a rather desperate look for a split second, before he covered it with a cough, adjusting his clothing again.
"You... You dont..." lavi stared and blinked with the eye that wasn't hidden by his eyepatch. "You have a DATE!?"
"I never said that!" Kanda yelled, trying to quiet his friend.
"But you do, don't you! You found some fairytale peasant girl and want to woo her off her feet! Is that it?!"
"Shut up, idiot. It's not some peasant girl." Kanda glared, but it was slightly obscured by the daydreaming look hidden in his eyes. Lavi giggled. Whoever had caught his little Yuu-chan had certainly done it well. Wait... if it wasn't a peasant...
"Royalty?!" Lavi gasped. "Butbutbut! Yuu-chan... that means..."
This time Kanda's face went totally red.
"Lenalee-chan!?"
And then he fell to the dirt.
"No you idiot!" Kanda snapped. "That... that just feel's wrong!"
"Oh," lavi blinked. Then who was the-"oh my god ALLEN!?"
"Shut up idiot! Let the whole kingdom hear you!"
"You... You... you like Allen-chan!?" Lavi stared. "But... you guys are like... totally different!"
It was true. Kanda had always been rude and brash, and Allen had always been kind and gentle. But as lavi stared at Kanda, it clicked. No one, not even Kanda's own father, could get Yuu to drop his princly act. But here he was, dressed ALMOST like a peasant, to go visit Allen, who had given up his palace in order to pass money out to his kingdom. The match was almost too perfect. Kanda could be the strenght that Allen lacked, and Allen could be the kindness missing from Kanda.
"excellent..." lavi breathed at his own discovery.
"what?!" kanda stared at him, not knowing what was going through the rabbit's mind.
"Oh, I mean, I'm so happy for you dude!" Lavi grinned, clapping Kanda on the shoulder. "What time is your date?"
"Noon." kanda grumbled, obviously embarassed. "We're going on a walk through town."
"Cute!" Lavi cried. "but... aren't you running a little late then...?" lavi blinked up at the clock on the face of the church they were by.
"Crap!" Kanda yelled. He turned and started dashing off.
"Catch you later Yuu-chan! Come and tell me how it goes!" Lavi yelled, waving the prince away. He got a wave in return, which made him grin. Kanda seemed kind-er already.
***

"Are we there yet?" Lenalee whined.
Komoui, who sat in the front of the cart, holding the reigns that were safetly fasened to Josephine, Lenalee's beloved horse, sighed.
"Yes. We're there."
"Oh good!" lenalee cried. She began looking around. "Nii-san! This is only the town! I told you to tell me when we got to the palace!"
"Oops?" Komoui grinned, scratching the back of his head. And then they heard it. A sound that was soft like bells, but carried strongly through the town. Looking around, Lenalee finally spotted the culprit of the beautiful sound. In the center of town square was a young woman, dressed simply in a golden dress with a small white apron over it. The sleeves came to her wrists, and the dress came to her ankels, but it looked soft and simply beautiful. Her white hair shone in the light, and her silver eyes sparkled. She seemed to simply glow.
On one arm, she held a basket filled with beautiful yellow flowers, all of them in full bloom. As she sang her beautifully sad song, the children came around and receaved several flowers each. In turn, they ran around, passing them off to their parents or friends, who smiled. A strong gust of wind passed through, and several of the flowers lost some petals, which were swept toward lenalee and her servant. She watched as Komoui reached out and grabbed a petal, holding it in his hand as he stared at the princess in wonder.
It was Allen. Lenalee smiled a little. The girl had always been beautiful, and now that she was growing, she practically surpassed Lenalee in beauty. But the girl was simple, and would probably never find love. Lenalee was about to laugh and call out to her friend, when she heard a shout.
"Oi, Moyashi!"
The golden princess lost her beauty for a second as she shot a look at the approaching name-caller. The taller man simply laughed as he approached, then swooped down and placed a chaste kiss on the girls cheek. Allen blushed wildly, much to the cheers of the children, before she pulled a golden flower from her basket and placed it in Kanda's hair, decorating his ponytail. The prince simply smiled, before grasping Allen's hand and leading him away, both of them smiling.
Lenalee thought she would snap the railing that she was gripping in her hands. That little skank! That person, that she had thought was her friend, was STEALING the man that she loved! How could this happen! Kanda was meant for her!
"Komoui." she snapped, but the boy was gazing at the golden petal in his hand. "KOMOUI!"
"Ah, yes Lenalee-chan!?" he snapped to attention.
"I changed my mind. Take me home." she snarled. Komoui looked slightly frightened, but obliged, turning the carriage and heading back to their kingdom.
***

Lenalee stared as another rocket shot into the sky, bursting into beautiful colors. The sight was simply amazing, and would take her breath away. If it weren't for the fact that she was still so angry.
How could that have happened!?
She reached over to the expensive vase sitting innocently on the table next to her throne, and threw it at the floor, smashing the golden flowers it contained, and sending them flying across the floor with pieces of ceramic and water.
Kanda was HERS! Allen had NO RIGHT! She was STEALING from lenalee! NO ONE stole from lenalee.
"Lenalee-chan!" Komoui burst in, looking slightly out of breath. "I heard a crash... is everything... " he stopped, looking at the vase smashed on the floor, and the anger seething in his sister's eyes.
"Komoui..." Lenalee suddenly changed into a weeping mess. "You love me right!? You would do anything for me right!?"
Komoui stared at his poor sister, who was weeping into her hands.
"Of course Lenalee... What is it? What do you need?"
"I need you... to KILL Allen."
Komoui stared at his sister, who was suddenly staring at him with a cold look on her face. She walked foreward, picking up a golden flower from the floor, and stroking its long petals.
"Prince kanda was SUPPOSED to be in love with ME. Allen is taking what is mine. I won't stand for that. So if you love me Komoui, like a brother should, you'll do what I ask, and kill that wench."
Komoui was silent for a moment, watching his sister play with a petal, before plucking it from the flower.
"Show me how much you love me." lenalee commanded.
"... yes... Lady Lenalee."
Lenalee grinned, crushing the flower in her hand and laughing as the petals fell to the floor. Another rumble came from outside. But this time, it wasn't fireworks. It was the storm on the horizon.
***
Lenalee waited up for several hours after Komoui had left. She stared at the horizon, and grinned with glee at the red glow coming from the west. Not only had she sent her brother after Allen, but she had sent her men to destroy the city entirely. Lenalee would not only take what was hers, but she would take what was Allen's as well. She grinned again, fingers clutching at the glass.
"Lenalee-chan."
Lenalee turned to see her brother, kneeling on the floor, his face hidden by his dark hair. In his hands, he held a beautiful golden ribbon, marred by blood.
"I have done what you asked." komoui looked up. His eyes held no light.
"Excellent..." lenalee laughed. She grabbed the ribbon from her brother, and happily tied it around her neck, ignoring the blood stains.
"This will show them for sure!" she grinned, spinning in a circle. "You don't take what is mine!"
***

"Lavi!"
The young prince stopped the glass half way to his face, head tilted slightly in preparation to drink the night away. He blinked at the old man in the doorway to his private study.
"What do you want gi-gi?" Lavi adressed the heavily make-uped older man.
"You have a guest you insolent pup."
"Well tell them Im BUSY." lavi whined, resuming the glass's path toward his face.
"You might want to see this one." The old man said sternly before walking away. In his place, a man came stumbling into the doorway. His hair was a mess, his face was obviously burnt, and the rest of him was covered in soot.
"Holy hell, yuu-chan!" Lavi droped the glass back onto the counter before rushing over to his friend. Kanda's face was hidden by his long hair, but when lavi sat him in a chair, he could clearly see his friend. And he did not like what he was seeing.
Kanda was crying.
Lavi was in shock.
Kanda NEVER cried. Not when he got in trouble, not when he got hurt, the man had broken his LEG for heaven's sake, and didn't shed a tear! but now here he was, with thick tears trailing down his face, and was that... blood?!
"Yuu-chan, what happened to you!" lavi cried, leaning away from the blood soaked clothing on the taller man.
"Lavi... lavi... I need your help!"
"What!?" Lavi stared again. Was someone recording this? because this had to be a record. Crying AND asking for help!?
"Lavi... please!" Kanda cried, gripping the man's arm.
"Alright yuu-chan! I'll do whatever you need me to! Now tell me... what's wrong?"
"I cant... i cant!" Kanda hid his face in the hand that wasn't breaking Lavi's arm, before standing abruptly and dragging the red-head toward the door.
"Yuu-yuu-chan... hold on a second... where are we going... at least let me put my shoes on!"
***

He never did get to put his shoes on. Kanda had just thrown him on the horse he had been riding, and off they went. Lavi was going to be sure to make kanda pay for this later. Finally, they began to slow. Kanda was off the horse before it had even gotten to a trot, and was thrashing his way through the brier woods. Lavi jumped off, wincing as twigs and needles cut his feet.
"Yuu-chan!" he whined. Then he finally pushed through the branches. After a moment, he hit the back of the boy in front of him, and looked up. Kanda was still, and from this position, Lavi couldn't see his face.
"This had better not be a joke Yuu-chan. I seriously hurt... my... my god..."
Lavi had peeked around Kanda, and his blood had run cold. They had come to a clearing, filled with beautiful golden flowers that shone in the moonlight. And in the middle of the field was a single figure, suspended in the air by a spear through its chest. The golden dress was limp and torn, and the silver eyes were no longer shining. The only thing that was the same was that soft, ever present smile on her face.
Lavi's eyes were torn away when Kanda fell to his knees, punching the ground with a sob. Lavi rushed forward, trampling the flowers as he went until he reached Allen's body. The smell of blood was strong, and when he gently closed her eyes, her body was cold. The princess was dead.
"Lavi... can you... get her down?" kanda asked, feeling sick with himself for being unable to help his love.
"Sure yuu-chan." Lavi said quietly. He did his best to keep things clean, but removing a spear from someone was... well.. very NOT clean.
Once he had finished the job, he lay Allen in the flowers, breath taken by her beauty, even after death. A hand reached out and grabbed her limp, cold fingers, and lavi watched as Kanda squeezed her hand and kissed it gently, ignoring the blood.
"Yuu-chan..."
"Lavi... I still need your help." Kanda said. He gently placed Allen's hand on his chest with the other one in a symbol of death. "Help me destroy them. Help me... get my revenge."
Lavi picked a golden flower that wasn't marred with crimson, and placed it in the princesses hands.
"I will."
***

The princess stared out of the window, her hands gently gripping the curtains. She didn't want to die! All she wanted was Kanda! But now armies from all three of the other kingdoms were right at her front door. She had ordered her soldiers to keep them at bay, but Lavi and Kanda had always been fierce strategists, and were easily wiping out her forces.
"Lenalee..."
The princess turned teary eyes toward her brother, who was holding clothing in his hands.
"Change clothes and run away lenalee..."
"Nii-san... but..."
"We'll escape quickly. Please..." he begged, dropping the clothing to the floor and rushing up to hug his sister.
"Nii-san... Did i do something wrong?" she looked at him with tears.
"No Lenalee..." he said softly, hugging his sister more tightly. "You've done nothing wrong. Just remember, that I love you."
"Nii-san?"
***

Kanda and Lavi stood in the front of the massive army behind them. The Blue and Red kingdoms had joined forces with the civilians of the Gold Kingdom, who wanted revenge toward the ones who had stolen away their heavenly princess. The Green Kingdom's forces had all but been annihilated, and all that was left was to storm the castle.
"This is it." kanda said, drawing his sword. "We do this for Allen."
"FOR ALLEN!" the crowd cheered. Some cried, and other yelled to the heavens. They hoped that their princess could feel their love.
"Charge!" Lavi yelled, rushing forward. They began storming the doors and windows, finding their way in. Once the main gates were hammered down by force, lavi and kanda dashed in, determined to find the princess. They passed a figure with dark hair, and Kanda turned to strike, recognizing the haircut.
His sword was met by another, and he turned to see Lavi stopping him.
"It's just a servant." lavi said, nodding to the man. He was scrawny with dark hair, and large dark eyes to match. He looked absolutely terrified. Kanda turned with a "Che" before rushing off. They finally burst into the princesses throne room, and there she stood, staring out the window in all of her royal beauty.
She turned to them and stepped forward. Kanda brought his sword to her neck and she narrowed her eyes at him.
"Unhand me, uncouth man!" she snapped. Lavi blinked for a second, before he put a hand on Kanda's shoulder. Kanda sighed, dropping his sword to his side. Several soldiers rushed in and grabbed the princess, trapping her hands behind her back.
"Prepare yourself." kanda snapped. "Tomorrow, at 3, your head will fall in the gallows." he turned, swooping his cape, and left. Lavi stared for a moment.
"Take the princess to the cells. " he said.
She didn't fight at all as she was lead to her fate, and Lavi left to go find Kanda and speak to him.
-
All night, the guard watched as the princess stayed silent, staring at a spider's web in the corner of the cell.
-
The afternoon was surprisingly quiet for hundreds of people being packed into a square. The princess stood upon the gallows, her hands tied behind her back and her feet tied at the ankles. The executioner pushed her down, and she knelt to the wooden planks. Her neck fell snugly into the little notch in the wood base. She stared out at the crowd, face unreadable.
"Princess Lee." lavi said, stepping up to the front of the crowd below. "You had been sentenced for death for the murder of Lady Allen. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"
In the background, the clock struck 3.
The princess smiled. "It's time to make a snack." She gazed into the blue sky,
And the blade fell.

Daughter of Evil- End*

Part 2 - Servant of Evil

You are my Lady, and I am your servant, and I will fight for you.
Even if the whole world is against you, then I will fight.
If only to see you smile.

Many years ago, in a Kingdom far away, the king and queen of the Green Kingdom were blessed with a child.
Actually, it was two children...
"Nii-san! Come on!" a small girl with two matching pigtails cried, as she ran through the lush green field.
"I'm coming my darling Lenalee!!" an equally small boy cried as he managed to get over the top of the small hill and within view of his sister. He caught up with her and they grabbed hands, running as fast as small children can.
"Look!" the girl pointed, her dark hair swaying in the breeze, "They're already there!"
The boy looked up. His sister was right. Under the only tree in the large field was a small group of three children. The group seemed to look up and notice them.
"Che, about time." A small boy with a rather royal air about him lifted his nose in distaste. "You guys are so slow!"
"Give'em a break Yuu-chan!" the red-head next to him grinned, hiding his hands behind his head.
"I told you not to call me that USAGI!" the first boy shouted, lunging out. Next to them, a small girl with silver hair laughed softly.
"Sorry we're late!" the girl huffed as she made it to the group, her brother following shortly after.
"It's alright." the silver haired girl said softly, pretending she didn't notice the two other boys wrestling in the background. "We haven't even done anything yet." The girl smiled, lighting up the sky.
"So, Lenalee, Komoui, how ya been?" The red head asked cheerfully from the older boy's headlock.
"We've been well!" Lenalee chirped, grabbing the edges of her green dress and twirling it about a bit. "How have you been Lavi?"
"Peachy!" the red head, now identified as Lavi, grinned. "So yuu-chan... could you let me up now?"
The older boy, Known as Kanda Yuu, clicked his tongue in irritation before releasing the red-head from his grasp.
"Baka usagi." he muttered.
"Now Kanda." the silver hair girl, who's name was Allen, scolded. "That's no way for a prince to speak!" She waggled a finger like a mother would.
"My deepest apologies for Yuu-Chan's rudeness your highness!" Lavi bowed deeply, laughing as he went.
"She's a pain in my highness." kanda grumbled. The others stopped to stare, as the boy's face went red from embarrassment, before they all burst out laughing.
"Whatever!" kanda growled, stomping off a short distance.
"I can't beleive he made a joke like that!" Allen laughed, doubling over.
"I can't beleive he has a sense of humor!" Lenalee added, joining the girl in the grass.
Lavi smiled at the two, before looking to kanda, who was still fuming.
"Whats wrong lavi?" Komoui asked, coming up to the red-head. Unlike the other four, Komoui was not in like for the current throne of one of the four main kingdoms, and even though he was lenalee's twin, he usually didn't feel as included with the four children. But he was never one to leave a problem unsolved.
Lavi turned to the dark headed boy, blinking for a moment, before grinning.
"Man, you really are the most observant in the kingdom." lavi laughed. "I even fooled kanda with this face." He pointed at his own head for emphasis.
"Fooled me how rabbit." kanda snapped, rejoining the group at the mention of his name. "You think I didn't notice you were upset about something?"
Lavi stared for a moment, his hand dropping to his side.
"Yeah lavi, you're pretty easy to read." Allen added softly, coming to the red-heads side and grabbing up a hand.
"If there's something wrong, you can tell us..." Lenalee added, picking Lavi's other hand. Lavi looked back and forth between the two girls, and back to the two boys before he burst out laughing.
"I can't beleive I'm that open!" He fell to the ground, dragging the girls with him, and tickling them into submission. Kanda and Komoui sat down a short distance away, and waited until all three had exhausted themselves into panting heaps.
"Its my old man." lavi said softly, gazing at the clouds. Komoui watched as kanda looked up as well, leaning back until he fell into the soft grass, and closing his eyes.
"What about him?" Lenalee asked from her position at lavi's right.
"He's... sick." lavi said. "The doctor came and looked at him but... they really aren't sure when he's going to recover..."
"Baka." kanda said, keeping his eyes shut. "Your old man is the most stubborn geezer i've ever met. There's no way he's going to die from some dumb cold."
Lavi looked toward the little prince, before grinning softly.
"Thanks yuu-chan."
"And if anything does happen, I'll be sure to do everything i can to help!" Allen piped up, grinning at Lavi. "I'm sure all your dad needs though is a good bowl of soup! That's what mana makes me when i'm sick!"
"Oh, maybe you should write him a get-well card!" Lenalee squeaked. "Those always make me smile! And i'll do what I can to help too!"
Lavi looked to the two girls and grinned, ruffling their hair.
"Thanks." he grinned.
"Alright, enough with this sour mood." Kanda snapped, standing. He looked down at himself for a second before brushing at his clothing. "Thanks to you rabbit, i've got grass all over me now!"
"Kanda's right!" Allen smiled. "Lets do something fun!"
"What should we do today?!" Lenalee laughed. "How about-

Komoui was startled out of his daydream at the second chime of the large grandfather clock he had been cleaning. He blinked, looking at the cloth in his hand, before looking back at the clock. It was 3o'clock.
Time for a snack.
He turned around with a smile and began to walk down the hallway toward the kitchen. It had been a while since he had remembered their childhood like that. Of course, that memory was one that he held rather special. It was the last time all five of the kingdom's children had gotten together to play.
He passed another servant and they waved to each other.
Shortly after that last play-date, Lavi, who had been worried about his father's health, sent a message to the other three kingdoms that the previous king of the Red Kingdom had passed away in his sleep, and that Lavi was now the King. Of course, the news had been painfull for all of the friends, but no one could imagin how the small red-headed child felt after losing his father and being forced into all of the responsibilities of the throne at the same time.
Lenalee had cried for him, and Komoui had sent him encouraging letters. Allen had asked his father, King Mana, to ask those in the Golden kingdom to pay their respects, and pray for a peacefull time for the Red Kingdom, so that lavi wouldn't have such a tough time.
Kanda had been the most suprising of all of them. He had immediatly abandoned his duties as heir, and took up residence in the Red Kingdom's castle, claiming that he was "getting away from his old man" for a while, and needed a place to stay. Of course none of them had been fooled. Kanda had kept Lavi company, and distracted him when he felt at his worst. Since then, the two had been the closest of friends.
Komoui waltzed into the kitchen, and headed for the pantry. What would make a good lunch for the lady today? How about Brioche?
Of course, once the Red Kingdom had resettled, and everyone was sure that Lavi could keep up with his duties, the friend had wanted to get together again.
That was when the rulers of the Green Kingdom, the Lee's, had made their move.
Lenalee was expected to hold up the throne when she came of age. Komoui, however, was pretty much useless in their eyes. So soon after lavi had taken the throne, Komoui was taken away. He was sent into the depths of the castle, where he was taught to be a servant, and kept away from his sister for many years. Through the grapevine, he learned of Mana's violent passing, and the coup d'eta of the Golden Kingdom, that was only just saved by the power of their military general, Cross Marian, and the kindness and guidence of the distraught princess, Allen.
After that, there were a few years of peace, and Komoui was not sure if the four heirs had ever re-united. The next piece of news he managed to grab, was that his own mother and father had passed away. His grief was minimal, and heavily overshadowed by worry over his sister's well-being. Soon, he worked his way up into servitude in the main castle, and was able to work at a Ball. There, he saw his sister, looking rather glum at the scrutinizing gazes of those around her. So komoui did the first thing that came to mind.
He grabbed a tray of champaigne, walked toward the woman who was insulting his sister the most obviously, "tripped" and soaked the woman with the drink. The crowd burst into laughter as the womans make-up ran and she looked to be a clown.
Once the party had died down, he came up to his sister, who recognized him instantly, and the two spent the night laughing and reminicing.
Komoui blinked at the small beep of the oven, signaling the snack to be ready. He was certainly zoning alot today. He wondered if maybe he should take some time off...
Once the food had cooled enough to be handled, he picked up the tray and went straight for the Lady's room.
"Lenalee-chan!"
He skipped into the room, twirling lightly. His beautiful sister looked up from the mail she had been reading and smiled in greeting. Deciding to add some flair today, he twirled in a circle (with the power of LOVE!) and then gracefully slid the tray onto the table, revealing the delicious lunch.
"Today's lunch is Brochette Madam!" He stuck up his nose with a sniff, imitating the ladies he had made fun of so often. Lenalee giggled lightly. He smiled, looking into her mirror eyes. His twin.
"Nii-chan, you don't need to be so formal!" she pushed aside the mail she had been looking over in favor of the tray he had brought.
Komoui looked shocked, his mouth hanging open in play. "But my princess! How could I ever speak to the lady of the palace, Ms. Lenalee Lee, Queen of the Green Kingdom and the most BEAUTIFUL princess in all the land, with out a hint of snoot in my voice?"
She laughed again, "Mou, Nii-san, quit being silly! I have work to do you know!"
Komoui frowned lightly. Since his sister had taken the throne, she had been doing her absolute best to keep the kingdom at peace, which was a difficult task for a teenage girl who missed alot of her childhood.
"Just dont' frown to much!" he said before he even realized he was talking. She blinked up at him, and he poked her in the forehead. "You'll get wrinkles!" She gave a relaxed smile before returning her gaze to the mail. Standing at her side, he looked at it as well. Just because he was a servant didn't mean that he couldn't at least try to give her guidance. Sure he hadn't been educated in ruling a country, but he could be of some help! Right...?
The mail was grim. Reports of the castles finances going down the hole, and the kingdom falling into poverty... complaints from people who had become homeless, or couldn't afford the tax anymore...
"We're short on money again?" He sighed.
His sister nodded. "We'll just raise the taxes again." she shrugged. When komoui gave her a suprised look, she elaborated. "Those people have some money to spare somewhere, so it should be fine."
Komoui couldn't beleive his ears. Was his sister reading the mail at all!?
"But... Lenalee-chan..."
"It's fine nii-san!" She insisted, smiling at her brother and waving him away. "Now, could you be kind and hook Josephine up to the cart? I need to go to the Golden Kingdom for a bit."
Komoui sighed a bit, concerned for his sister. But he wasn't there to tell her what to do, and he WAS rather uneducated on this subject...
"As you wish, my lady." he bowed deeply and left the room. After he passed through the doors, he turned and peered through the crack between them.
"Nii-san..." his sister sighed, exhasperated. Then, she looked around a bit, checking to make sure no-one was watching, and pulled a paper out from under the mail, gazing at it lovingly. Komoui blinked. It was a picture. Had... had lenalee fallen in love!?
Sighing with a smile, he left his sister in her daydream to go and hook up Josephine like she had asked.
Reaching the stable quickly, Komoui waltzed up to the caramel colored horse, that snorted lightly at him.
"Hello Josephine old girl!" he smiled, patting her nose and giving her a carrot. "You ready to go on a trip?"
The horse whined excitedly, and stayed in place as komoui opened the gate. He led her over to the house where they kept their nice carriage, dubbed "the cart" and carefully hooked up the horse. After securing her in place, he looked around and spotted the garden hand, a soft spoken and meek boy named johnny.
"Johnny-kun!" komoui called, waving a hand. The book looked up, his mousy brown hair bouncing about a bit. He quickly scuttled over.
"Yes Komoui-san?" The boy chirped. Komoui smiled at his eagerness.
"Could you do me a favor?"
"Anything Komoui-san!"
"Could you go and tell Ms. Lee that her cart is ready? Oh, and tell her that the weather is beautiful! She always likes to know how to dress in advance."
Johnny nodded in excitement, before shooting off into the house. Komoui giggled a bit, before turning to continue brushing Josephine's mane.
So lenalee was in love...?
With who?
WHY DIDN'T SHE TELL HER BELOVED NII-SAN!
Komoui shook his head, ignoring the crazed look from Josephine.
"Don't judge me." he shot at the horse. It snorted back.
"Yeah, well you would be crazy too if you loved your sister as much as me!"
The horse whined and pawed at the ground.
"Oh..." komoui stopped for a moment and took a step back. "my deepest appologies... i didn't know..."
The horse neighed loudly.
"hahaha! You got that right!" komoui laughed, resuming his brushing.
A little ways off, two other garden hands, carrying the princes's favorite blue flowers through the garden, stopped to stare at the crazed man.
"Is he... talking to a horse?" the first asked.
"You must be new here." the other one replied. "you can start acting freaked out whenhe's NOT talking to the horse. It means they had an argument, and then Ms. Lee comes down and scolds them both, and its a whole lot of whining on both parts."
The first blinked. "Really?"
"Come on" the second sighed. "Lets go get these planted before he starts singing."
***

"Here you go!"
The silver haired beauty smiled as she gently passed a golden flower into the hands of a young child, maybe 5 years old, staring up at her with wondrous green eyes.
"Thank you, my Lady!" The child cried, seemly surprised by the gesture.
"Please, call me Allen." The princess smiled again. The groups of people, enjoying the day in the market/town square in the center of the golden Kingdom, took a moment to bask in the beauty of their princess. Allen had realized the financial problems of the kingdom soon after taking the throne, and even while suffering from the pain of losing her beloved father, she gave up the castle and material belongings of royalty, and actually took the time to go from house to house to spread the wealth. As a result, the towns people adored their princess, and did their best to behave and make life easier for their country. After only 2 years, the Golden Kingdom had become a utopia.
"Lady Allen~" a group of passing females called. "You're looking especially beautiful today!" They regarded the new golden dress, that was quite a bit more elegant than what they were used to seeing their princess in.
"Could it be... a Date?!" One of the ladies cried, covering her mouth with a hand in mock shock.
Allen's face dusted red as she was taken aback.
"uh, I... er... that is..."
The flock of girls giggled with excitement.
"Ooh, is it that prince lavi?!" another called. "He's just so handsome! You would make a lovely pair! And their kingdom is close to ours, so it would make a wonderful match!"
"Ah.. no... it's not lord Lavi..." Allen muttered, twisting her fingers into her dress.
"Then... did you find someone in the kingdom?" One of the girls speculated. "Could it be... Sir Crowley? Or maybe sir Link?"
"No, no, no!" Allen cried, shaking her head at the thought of the two.
"Well then?!" The girls all cried together. "Out with it!"
"Ah..." Allen blushed again, twisting with embarrassment.
"Can you give us a hint?" A smaller girl called out.
"Yeah, describe him!" the group chanted.
"Oh...well... " Allen put her hands together in thought. "He's rather tall... and very handsome..." Her face dusted red again. "He's strong, and brave, and some people think he's kinda scary but... he's actually very sweet. He's been sending me beautiful flowers everyday for a few weeks now!" She smiled in excitement.
"ooh!" the girls cried.
"So when is he coming?" Another asked.
"Ah..." Allen looked up at the clock on the church. "Actually... He's running a bit late, which is kind of strange for him. But I'm sure he's just being held up by something important." She smiled softly.
"Oh, Lady Allen!"
The group turned to see a small gaggle of kids, being led by the one who already received a golden flower. They grouped around their princess and chanted their admiration for her.
"Wady Aw-wen!" A small girl called out. "Can yow sing a sowng fow us?"
The crowd cried out in agreeance. Allen's voice was hailed as one of the most beautiful in all four kingdoms.
Allen grinned with a nod, and started to hand out flowers while singing a soft tune. The children danced and the older girls who were around pretended to be at a ball, joining hands and sweeping around the square in delicate movements. Some found men on the outside of the square, who were distracted from the market by the beautiful ruckus. They joined in the dancing, and soon most of the square was taken over by an imaginary ballroom.
A young girl with bouncy blond curls took a sweeping turn, preparing to back step back into the crowd, when she found herself face-to-chest with someone.
"umph!" she cried as she bounced away, quickly stopped by strong arms. "Ah, I'm so sorry." she hastily apologized, looking up into deep sapphire eyes that captivated her immediately. She felt like she would melt into the ground.
"So... what's going on here?" he asked in a deep growly voice that sent shivers up the girls spine.
"Ah.." she blushed. "we...we were just enjoying the day with lady Allen... Would...w-would you like... t-t-o dance?" The girl stuttered, righting her self onto her feet.
"Sorry." the guy said, eyes locked onto the princess. "But I'm here to dance with her." And he stalked off with his long hair swinging behind him.
The blond girl blinked for a second, slightly put out by the rejection, before she realized just WHO the man had been. She quickly stopped the dancing groups near her and pointed to the scene as Prince Kanda slowly approached the oblivious singing princess with a smile on his face.
"Oi, Moyashi~." he called with a tease. The princess stopped mid-song to shoot a look of annoyance toward the person who had used her least favorite nickname. Her eyes widened slightly as she spotted Prince Kanda, and she felt her face catch fire as he swooped down to place a chaste kiss on her cheek. The girls who had been watching hooted and hollered with glee. Kanda pulled away with a bit of a smirk. In return, Allen pulled a golden flower from her basket, scattering a few more petals into the wind, and stood on her tip-toes to twine the flower into the band of the prince's ponytail. (she ignored the fact that he had to bend over a bit to help her reach.)
He smiled at her.
She smiled at him.
Their hands somehow found each other,
and linked them together.

The countryside of the Golden Kingdom was one of Komoui's favorite places. The trees always seemed to be in full health, and the flowers always in bloom. It was like the whole country was singing...
"Are we there yet Nii-san?" A soft voice called out of the carriage behind him. He sighed.
"No, Lenalee-chan." he called back. "I told you that I'd tell you when we get there."
Silence answered him, telling him that his sister was probably ignoring him. Ah well~...
They slowly made their way into the city, where komoui had to slow quite a bit. The town was bustling with life. Kids were dancing ('dancing?' Komoui stared 'what a weird place...') through the streets and the market was full of calls and responses. He smiled. Lady Allen had certainly grown into a wonderful ruler. She had turned her kingdom into a peaceful place with no worries.... He hoped his sister could take a leaf from her book.
"Are we there yet?" lenalee whined again.
Komoui cast an irritated glance at the carriage.
"Yes. We're there." he sighed.
"Oh good!" Lenalee cried, leaning out of the window to look around. She stared for a moment, before turning back to her brother. "Nii-san!" This is only the town! I told you to tell me when we got to the palace!"
Komoui snickered a bit. "Oops?" And scratched his head in fake sheepishness.
His sister looked like she was preparing to start whining again, when a sound drew their attention. It was absolutely beautiful.
Komoui turned toward the source of the angelic music, and felt his breath be taken by the site before him.
Lady Allen was in the center of the square, singing a beautifully heart-wrenching song as she passed flowers to the children of the town. Her silver hair glittered in the sun, and her smile make Komoui's heart skip a beat. Now he knew why the town was so enraptured by their princess.
She was a goddess.
'oh.' Komoui thought 'what i wouldn't give to be one of those children, to receive a flower and a smile that rivals even the most expensive of crystals in beauty. Or even to be one of those flowers, to be handled by your gentle hands!'
As he pined at the princess, the heavens took mercy on him, and sent a gust of wind through the square, scattering the stray petals from Allen's basket. They flew toward the carriage and Komoui managed to reach out and catch one, tenderly holding it in his hand.
"Oi, Moyashi!"
Komoui looked back for his beloved princess, only to see her gladly receive a kiss from what komoui suddenly recognized as Kanda. For a moment, Komoui thought his heart would break. But he gazed upon Allen, and smiled at the beauty of the princess, and how happy she seemed to be with lord Kanda.
With a deep sigh, Komoui turned back to the petal in his hand. It was golden and soft. 'This will have to do.' Komoui thought. 'I may love Allen, but so long as she is happy, then so too, will I be.' And as he closed the petal into his hand, he silently wished them the best of luck.
"KOMOUI!"
He jerked out of his thoughts at Lenalee's call.
"Ah, Yes Lenalee-chan!?" He cried, hoping his sister hadn't recognized his wistful face. He was startled to see hatred radiating from her features. With a quick glance, he realized she was staring at Allen and Kanda.
"I've changed my mind." she snapped. "Take me home." she practically slammed the curtain shut on the window and retreated into the darkness.
"A-as you wish... my lady." Komoui answered, frightened by the expression he had seen from his sister.
He only hoped that she would not do anything foolish.
***
The next day, Komoui was in the stables, happily humming the song the Allen had been singing the day before. The tone was just beautiful, and made his heart feel warm.
"I wonder if they will have a summer wedding...?" komoui asked Josephine, whose main he was brushing.
The horse snorted.
"Allen and Kanda silly!" Komoui laughed, smacking the horse lightly on the shoulder, as if it were joking.
It glared at him and pawed the ground.
"Alright, alright, it's not my fault you weren't paying attention at the square. So what do you think?"
The horse was silent.
"... really? Is that possible?!" Komoui put a hand to his chin. Lenalee HAD been acting strange... could she... could the one she loved be...
"I have to find out!" komoui cried, dropping the brush onto the straw covered ground and rushing from the stable. He ran back into the house, and all the way up to Lenalee's quarters. Peeking in the door, he was relieved to see that the room was empty. He dashed in and rushed to the table where the mail was still sitting. Hands shaking, he pushed the pile about until something fell to the floor. He froze, and slowly turned to look at the picture on the ground.
It was Kanda.
"Oh... oh no..." komoui's mind went blank as he fell to the ground, picking the picture up from the floor.
His sister... his sister loved kanda... but kanda... and Allen...
Oh this could not end well.
Komoui jumped at the sound of heels in the hall, and quickly stashed the picture back under the pile of mail, before he rushed over to lenalee's bed and pretended to be making it.
"Nii-san?" Lenalee paused at the entrance to the room.
"Ah, l-Lenalee-chan!" Komoui grinned "I-I was just... Making your bed! Can't have you sleeping in ruffled covers now right!?" He laughed nervously.
"Nii-san." lenalee sighed. "Can you just leave me alone? I'm... I'm not really feeling well..."
She was surprised when Komoui grabbed her hands and held them tightly in his own.
"Lenalee." he said, staring straight into her eyes. "You know I love you right? I love you more than the whole world! Nii san would do anything for you! So please... don't loose you're beautiful smile!"
Lenalee blinked for a moment, before smiling softly at her brother.
"Thanks Nii-san. I'll keep that in mind. So good-night."
"Good-night Lenalee." he said softly, as he left the room. The door closed and he stood in the hallway, taking a few steps before sinking down against a wall.
Why couldn't he get rid of this horrible feeling?
***

It was the night of the Kingdom's anniversary festival. From his place in the hallway, Komoui could hear the sounds of fireworks, shooting into the sky and exploding in bursts of beautiful color. He wished that he could see it as well, but the hallways wouldn't clean themselves, and while everyone was away celebrating, he figured he could get a head start on his work.
That, and he just happened to be cleaning near Lenalee's chambers.
Just in case.
As he ran a rag around the outside of another pictureframe, his thoughts drifted. He found himself singing Allen's beautiful meleody again. 'I hope Allen and Kanda are happy.' he sighed to himself. 'Maybe i should suggest Lavi to Lenalee? Goodness knows how much he-'
His thoughts were cut short at the sharp crack of ceramic against tile. Something had been broken in Lenalee's room.
Dropping his rag, he rushed into her chamber.
"Lenalee-chan!" he cried, looking around quickly. "I heard a crash... is everything..." he stalled, seeing a smashed vase on the floor, and golden flowers ripped to shreds. Water spread across the floor like a pool of blood.
He looked up to his sister. A firework crashed in the distance, and her frame was darkened in front of the large window. Her face was livid.
"Komoui..." she cried, weeping into her hands and hunching in pain. She cried horribly, and Komoui was unsure of whether he had imagined her anger or not.
"You love me right?! You would do anything for me!?"
He looked at her, sadness lining her feature.
"Of course Lenalee... What is it? What do you need?" He answered. He would do whatever it took to see his sister smile again. If only to see her smile once more.
"I need you..."
Komoui smiled softly, moving to hug his sister.
"To KILL Allen."
He froze. No. How could his sister... his DARLING Lenalee... say something so cruel! He looked up at her, only to see darkness in her eyes. She knelt down and picked a golden flower from the floor, petting it softly.
"Prince Kanda was SUPOSSED to be in love with ME." she growled.
'But Allen...'
"Allen is taking what is mine!"
'but kanda is happy...'
"I won't stand for that."
He stared at his sister. Why would she do this to him. Allen was... Allen was... she was important to Komoui! Couldn't his sister see that?!
"So if you love me Komoui, like a brother should..."
That's right, Lenalee is his sister.... His beloved little sister... He swore, when they were separated, that he would work hard no matter what, and make her smile again.
"...You'll do what i ask, and kill that wench."
He stared as she pulled a petal from the flower, and watched it fall to the floor, dying. He could almost hear it screaming. Or was that his heart?
"Show me how much you love me." lenalee commanded.
Komoui knelt to the floor, looking to his sister. This was going to end badly. But he would do whatever it would take.
"...Yes... lady Lenalee."
If only to see her Smile.
***

He set out on a horse.
It wasn't Josephine. It couldn't be Josephine. Because that would mean he was Komoui, and he couldn't be Komoui. Not for this.
Not anymore.
He rode hard and fast, straight through the imaginary lines separating the Green and Golden Kingdoms. He knew that Allen would be in his home. It was late, and the villagers always advised their princess to go to bed early because of her weak heart.
Because they loved her that much.
Loved...
Shaking his head, Komoui threw his thoughts aside, emptying his mind. He had a job to do.
And he would do it.
"Lenalee..."
***

"Allen!"
The silver haired princess shot up from the book she had been reading to see a figure in her doorway, wrapped in a thick cloak and panting slightly. He moved forward, loosing himself from darkness's obscuring hold and stepping into the light of her lamp.
"...Yuu!? What on earth are you doing here?!" She put her book down, cocking her head at the taller prince.
"No time." he panted, "I was out on a ride and saw the flames. Your city is going up in smoke!"
"WHAT!?" Allen cried. She jumped out of the chair she had been sitting in and rushed to the window, ripping open the curtains. And then she could see it.
The town was ablaze. The flames reached high into the sky, mixing with the bloody sunset.
"Why... why would anyone do this!?" She cried, before rushing to grab a coat from a nearby closet. Kanda grabbed her arm as she darted for the door.
"Where are you going?!" He cried.
"I have to help them!" Allen screamed. "The town... I have to DO something!"
"You can't!" Kanda yelled back, causing the girl in his grasp to freeze. She looked at him with horror on her face, and his harsh face melted. He pulled her to his chest, wrapping his arms around her.
"You can't." he said more softly. "Not anymore. I sent a call back to my kingdom. Men are comming to your aid. I went through what areas I could, and it looked like there was some sort of fore-warning. None of the villagers were still here. They're on the outskirts of the forest, so don't put yourself in unneccisary danger. They're just waiting for you." he said, pulling her away a bit and gently stroking a hand against her face.
"Oh yuu..." She said softly. "What are we going to do? Who's doing this...?"
"No matter who it is...I'll protect you." Kanda said softly, nuzzling the top of her head and closing his eyes. "Don't worry."
She nodded in silence. She had a feeling that Kanda would not be able to protect her for much longer.
***

His dark horse was swift. He tightened his arms on the reigns, and as a result, tightened his grip on Allen, who was sitting in his lap covered by a dark cloak. Her silver hair was much too recognizable, so they had had to hide it.
The horse let out a whinny as it lept over a fallen branch, picking up its speed without faltering.
"Are we almost there?" Allen asked, squirming a bit to blink her silver orbs up at Kanda's face. The prince looked deathly serious.
"Soon." he responded shortly. Allen nodded. Now was the time to run, not a time to ask questions.
A loud neigh and a jerk was all of the warning he had before they realized that they were not alone on the path. Another horse, equally black in color to Kanda's, carried a stranger atop it. Dark eyes looked their way as he lifted the spear he had swung earlier. Kanda urged his horse to the side, closing in on the forest and barely avoiding the attack of the other. Allen shrieked as a branch from a tree tore at the two before they passed it.
The attacker closed in again, rushing his horse along side of theirs. Kanda was caught between the attacker and the woods.
Right as the masked man pulled back his spear for a second attack, Kanda pulled the reigns, causing their horse to rear onto it's hind legs and effectivly stopping it in its tracks. Their attacker sped foreward before turning his horse sharply. Kanda glared. Not just anyone could handle a horse like that.
"Who are you!?" He shouted. Allen jumped, startled at the power and authority Kanda's voice suddenly seemed to hold. It just served as a reminder that Kanda was really a prince...
Their attacker was silent. He simply sat upon his stilled horse, that pawed nervously at the ground.
"ANSWER ME!" kanda shouted, but his threats were lost as the masked man threw something at the pair. In the darkness of the forest, neither could make out what landed on the ground in front of them.
Suddenly, the object exploded in a burst of color.
Allen heard Kanda shout something about a firework before she felt herself be thrown from the panicing horse. She rolled onto the grass and into a ditch, where she heard fierce shrieking from the horse and more shouts from kanda. Finally, the world seemed to stop spinning, and she looked up, only to see kanda dodging another attack from the man on the horse.
"Allen, Run away!" he yelled, rolling to the side. "Go into the forest and hide! I'll come for you!"
Allen blinked for a moment, opening her mouth to argue.
"If you don't leave, I'll have to kill him." The attacker finally spoke, pointing his spear at Kanda.
"b*****d..." Kanda growled, drawing his sword in return. "I'd like to see you try!"
But before she could see the first strike, Allen turned and ran.
She ran through the woods as quickly as she could, tripping on roots and being scratched by branches.
She ran as though the devil was right behind her.
She ran for her villiage.
She ran for her people.
She ran for Kanda.
And she prayed that the attacker would keep his word.
***

He really didn't want to kill Kanda. Really, he didn't. Maybe, in the back of his mind, he hoped that Kanda would kill him first. Maybe then, he could get away from this nightmare. Maybe then he could stop the infernal beating in his chest.
But he knew, at the same time, that he could not fail.
Lenalee...
He watched as kanda kept his eyes on the princess who rushed into the forest. He watched until he couldn't see her anymore, and then a small smile lit upon his face. Komoui's heart just kept beating.
"You do realize where she's headed right?" Komoui said softly, keeping his eyes on the ground as he waited for kanda to realize.
And realize he did.
Komoui didn't need to hear the sudden intake of air to realize that Kanda was probably horror struck.
Above the treeline, they could still see the bright red glow of the burning villiage.
Right where Allen was running toward.
"No.." kanda gasped. He sucked in a great amount of air, preparing to call to Allen. To tell her to stop! To... to...
He hit the ground before he could even shout. Komoui stood over him, spear reverberating from the impact to the Prince's skull. Kanda would be out for a good while now, but he had to hurry anyway.
Allen couldn't be too far away.
