This is my journal on which I plan to write about many things that interest me that I feel I should talk about.
The Secret to the Heart -- Report 9
Last night I came up with a startling discovery that could very well shake the foundation of my research on the heart. It could bring up a whole new angle on which to look at the heart. I had discovered there is a possibility that the heart itself can actually think. Can it be true though? Can the heart really think a situation through and take the "logical solution?"

A lot of possibilities for this to be true came to mind and I have thought about it all night and all day in order to find proof to the possibilities. One idea was that the heart and brain were somehow linked together and thus the heart has actually learnt to think situations through by using certain aspects of our brains. It watches our brains think and tries to mimic that. Perhaps the heart believes it can be stronger by having the ability to think. Perhaps, a heart that is tired or being hurt or used can become so frustrated that it wants to try something new in order to better protect itself from emotional pain. This result could be seen through someone who would be considered “hard nosed,” meaning he/she does not fall for things so easily and is hard to fool. But through this idea I realized that the result of a person like this does not truly come from the workings of the heart. Even the hardest person to please in the world can still be pleased and give in to their hearts. The brain is responsible for that person being so hard edged. The heart is responsible for them giving in. So this idea just did not convince me enough that the heart can think.

Another idea was that perhaps our brains are trying to fool us into believing our hearts have the ability to think. Our brains, much like our hearts, can work in mysterious ways. All of our brains are quite intelligent and even have the ability to make us think or believe things that never truly happened. The proof? It may be hard to explain but there are instances where we experience déjà vu. The brain makes me believe that an exact moment in time happened some time before. Some may call it a glitch in our brains, but I strongly believe the brain is better than that. But why would the brain want to fool us into thinking our hearts could think? Perhaps it’s because it wants to protect us. See many times, we don’t listen to logic. In love, we tend to ignore logic and go with our hearts, though sometimes we do get hurt from this. So, by making us believe our hearts can think these things, the brain hopes we will listen to logic and reason for a change to protect ourselves. Could this really be it? While this does seem like the logical solution to this problem, my heart tells me there may be more.

It may be an illogical solution, but this could also be a possibility. Maybe, just maybe, when we believe the heart to be thinking, it may just be it acting on instinct again. See, when one acts on instinct, logic is not an option for them. So how is it that one is able to “learn?” Trial and error. They learn through experiencing. There is a wise saying that goes “experience is wisdom.” I remember one of my very old aunts telling me this when she came to visit me about a year ago. Experience is wisdom. There is only so much the brain can learn through thinking and studying. No one can truly understand something until they experience it for themselves. The heart seems to act through this saying. If the heart had been poorly treated on numerous occasions, eventually it learns the concept of pain and even learns to stay away from it. So, like a predator able to sniff out its prey, the heart may be able to detect through instinct where trouble may be. This can be seen in horror movies when one is in a scary situation. The heart begins to beat rapidly out of fear. It is capable of noticing something bad is going to happen, and often in those movies it is right. In reality, the heart may very well act the same way.

You know, just when I think I understand the heart, something new comes up that totally blows away my conclusions. The unpredictable mysteries of the heart. I wonder what I shall discover next…
