Red Rose Revolution's Journal
This is my journal on which I plan to write about many things that interest me that I feel I should talk about.
Overlimit --> A Heart Can Only Take so Much
"Only in silence can you truly hear the most." This is a quote I came up with while at work one day. I was thinking about a lot of things, as usual. Doesn't surprise me one bit that I would come up with something else to talk about. After all, with school over, I have nothing else to do except work, hang out with my friends, and think, the latter being what I do the most. The quote I made reflects my own life. A life full of constant times alone with nothing to do but think about things. Because of the silent environment, I am able to listen to what my heart has to tell me. I can focus my mind and slowly concentrate on what needs to be done. Often when I am away from this environment, I find it difficult to focus on my feelings and my heart because of outside interference...

During this time, I also thought about how we are often engulfed by the daily struggles that make our life more and more challenging. Whether it is our jobs, school, families, friendships, relationships, or any other part of our lives, we all experience complications. In a perfect world, life would be quite simple. Everything would work and we would all live in happiness. However, our own imperfections have brought us into a reality full of corruption. The darkness laying deep within each of our hearts not only plagues us individually, but everyone around us as well. Our hearts, though strong at times, have often proven to be fragile depending on the situation. So many events occurring at once and trying to balance them all tend to take their tolls on us, leaving us with nothing but stress. When a heart reaches a point where it almost cannot handle the daily stresses of life, it reaches what I like to call "Overlimit." As the name suggests, our imperfections create a line, so to speak, within us that we try very hard not to cross. If we do, only frustration awaits us.

I shall give a typical example of when one goes through Overlimit. Take a teenage girl, for instance. A girl who is in her first year at university, a year in which many students tend to struggle with. Along with that, she also has a job at a place she does not really want to be at but she needs the money. Also, she has a family consisting of her mother, father, and siblings, as well as a relationship with a man whom she has loved for a long time. Now, she has to focus her mind on school if she is to become a success in life and make her family proud. She worries that she might let her parents down, the same parents who sacrificed so much in order for her to have a good life. As much as she would like her undivided attention to be on school, she must also focus on her job and other commitments while not forgetting the love she has for her boyfriend. It does not become an issue until problems begin to arise within what she is trying to balance. In school, she struggles with the heavy work load and the studying. At home, being the eldest sibling, she must take care of her younger siblings. At work, she must put up with some bad customers as well as co-workers. Finally, in her relationship, complications between her and her boyfriend leave her in a state of emptiness. She is at the point where she is in tears. Her Overlimit is reached and her heart, unable to take much more, slowly begins to crumble. She feels as if she cannot take anymore and begins to doubt herself. She loses her self esteem and simply does not know who to turn to anymore. What does she do? How does she handle this?

The stronger the heart, the more it can put up with, which means the longer time it will take until Overlimit is reached. However, as mentioned before, we are all human. We all reach this state at least once in our lives. We try hard to fight the stress, often by ignoring it. However, it is not something that should be ignored. We can only take so much pain within our hearts. But how does one eliminate Overlimit? How does one reduce the risk of it occurring given the world we live in?
