Chapter of Squeeling Brooklyn
Sami hugged the skinny frontman tightly and he returned it with just as much enthusiasm. He helped her pull her suitcase on the bus before the light turned green. wiL then shut the door and the bus driver continued to drive. Pulling her suitcase into the messy bus, he put it next to a big pile of black clothing. Sami sat down on a nearby bunk. “Sorry about the mess,” said wiL, sheepishly scratching the back of his head. His hand got lost in his burst of hair. “It’s been a long couple of a weeks and an even longer couple of hours. You must be a fan because of that hug I just got,” he broke out into a smile. “What are you guys doing here?!” Sami burst out. “This is the middle of nowhere Brooklyn!” “Well, we had a break after the concert in Pennsylvania and we wanted to spend it in New York. Besides, we had some TV spots and magazine interviews we needed to do over here. We’ve been here for a couple of days. Now we’re just gonna try and get to Seattle to play The Last Concert on Earth.” “May I come with you? I mean, if you don’t want a girl on the bus, I can understand but-” “Of course you can come! We don’t mind really. But be warned; we’re just a bunch of juvenile delinquents,” wiL’s smile covered his whole face and Sami’s was just about as big. “Do you mind if we pick up some people on the way? They’re my friends; we call ourselves The Aiden Family. You guys brought us together. We would’ve been completely lost without you.” wiL’s smile disappeared in shock and awe. He stared at her wide-eyed for a few moments, then a small grin spread across his face. “The Aiden Family? Wow. That’s the most awesome thing I’ve ever heard of! We’ll pick them up. Just tell me where they are and how many of them you got and if they would mind living with a bunch of messy, immature bastards for a couple of days.” Sami laughed; it was hard not too around wiL. She felt like she had known him all her life. That was just the type of guy wiL was. He was warm and friendly and funny. It was no wonder why Claire loved him. Of course, The Family all loved him in their own special way. “Well, there’s one in Minnesota, three in Canada, one in Texas, and one in California.” “Wow, there’s a lot of people in this family of yours. But don’t worry. We’ll get them all, I promise,” smiled wiL, his grin toothy and lopsided. She couldn’t help but pull him into another hug which he once again returned. When they released their embrace, Sami looked to the back of the bus, which was blocked off by a black curtain, precariously perched on a bar on the ceiling. “So, are the rest of the guys back there?” She asked, a blush beginning to tinge her cheeks. She had almost forgotten about HIM. Almost. wiL noticed the pink swimming up to her face and smiled a devious grin. “Haha, which one of them has your heart?” He asked her and her blush deepened. She was about to say the name of her crush when he came out from the back of the bus. “I felt the bus stop. What’s wrong?” Troy Wambold, the merchguy and brother of Jake Wambold, the guitarist, broke out into a yawn, rubbing one of his blue eyes in a circular motion. It seemed like he had just woken up, even though it was mid-afternoon. wiL looked at Sami, who was staring at her knees, her face completely red then to Troy, who was staring at Sami and giggled. “This is our newest passenger. Her name is…um…” He gave Sami a small poke. “I don’t think I caught your name.” “Sami,” she whispered, barely audible. “Sami,” The frontman repeated, getting up from the bunk he had been sitting on. “I’ll leave you two alone,” he gave Sami a wink, one very similar to the one he had given her a while ago when she had seen them in concert. Troy looked at the girl and he felt himself blush. He knew this girl; he had met her before and loved every moment of it. Sometimes, before he went to sleep, he could still feel the spot where she had kissed his cheek. He rubbed it slightly and felt the blush spread across his face. “Hey, am I that ugly that you can’t look up?” He asked, for the girl still had her eyes boring into her knees. “Um, I mean, I could put on a shirt or something.” The merchguy had fallen asleep in his customary blue pajama pants but no shirt. “NO!” shouted Sami unexpectedly. Troy jumped slightly but smiled. The girl’s blush became a deeper shade of red but at least she was looking up, which made him feel a bit better. “Alright, no shirt, no shirt,” the man assured her, taking a seat beside her on the bunk. “So, you’re going to the concert with us?” He asked, trying to make conversation with the nervous, blushing girl. Truth be told, he was just about as nervous but he tried to hide it as best he could. “Of course! I wouldn’t dream of missing you guys in concert!” She said, still blushing but with a huge grin on her face. Troy laughed. “Well, I’m not going to be performing, I hope you know!” “I know. But you’re a part of Aiden in my book.” The merchguy was touched. Out of all the people he had met, no one had ever thought of him as an important part of the band. “Well, thank you! Most people don’t feel that way,” he said with smile. When he was around Sami, it was very hard for him to stop smiling. “The whole Aiden Family feels that way!” She debated. “The Aiden Family?” He asked, confused. The girl began to explain The Aiden Family, a group of girls who were joined together by their love of the band and other similar interests and how they were all going to meet for the first time at The Last Concert on Earth. “Wow,” whispered Troy in awe. “You guys have a lot of determination. I’ll make sure we do everything in our power to get you guys together.” “You will?!” Sami exclaimed. Troy nodded and she tackled him onto the bunk with a tight hug. When she had realized what she had done, and that she was now on top of his bare chest, she tried to pull herself off but he only held her closer. “What are you doing?” She whispered, confused. He decided to just tell her flat out how he felt about her instead of wasting what little time they had dancing around the subject. From the amount of blood that had rushed to her cheeks in just the few moments of being around him, Troy had very little to lose in telling her his feelings. “I want you,” He said. That wasn’t exactly what he had wanted to say but at that moment, it seemed that he was thinking with something other than his brain, considering how sexual it had sounded. Suddenly, his brain decided to kick in. “I remember you, Sami. I remember every word you’ve ever said to me. Sometimes, I can still feel where you kissed me. And I know that sounds weird and I know it sounds creepy but I just can’t stop thinking-” She was feeling bold at that moment; in fact, she was feeling bold all over, considering it was coming down to her last days on earth. Sami interrupted him with a passionate kiss, which he returned with just as much feeling. He was glad she had understood his outburst and didn’t regard him as some sort of creepy *****. There they lay in the bunk, kissing until she pulled away from his lips. “What’s wrong?” asked the merchguy. In his mind, he was begging for more. He had been waiting for this ever since he had met her. “Nothing’s wrong. Besides the world ending in a few days, this is one of the most perfect moments I’ve ever had,” Sami smiled, looking into his big blue eyes. She blushed and looked away. Troy smiled. “You’re the cutest thing.” She stuck her tongue out at him and smoothed out his black bangs off to the left side. Gently kissing him on the forehead, she laid her head on his shoulder, sighing happily as Troy stroked her hair. They lay like that for a few moments before a huge vibration went through them. Sami’s cellphone was ringing. “I have to get this,” she said, sheepishly climbing off of Troy. Troy sat up in the bunk and looked at the girl, the smile permanently glued to his face.
