Chapter Eleven
The Hotel Bella Muerte
“CLAIRE!!!!!!” Mandy shouted into her cell phone. Britt and Carla were taking turns jumping up and down on the huge bed and Chels was trying to see if she could make herself another pair of falls using the bed sheets and the things she found in the other empty rooms.
“Holy Lord, Mandy?! Is that you?!” said Claire into the phone. “I haven’t talked to you in ages!”
“I know! It’s horrible! What have you been up to, love? Dreaming about wiL?”
“What?! How about you and Jake D, huh?”
Mandy was blushing. “Hey, hey, hey! Don’t try and change the subject! We were talking about you and wiL, not me and Jake, which doesn’t matter because there’s nothing there, missy! NOTHING.”
“Well, um…um…he kind of just called me…”
“HE DID?!” She shouted.
“What just happened?” asked Britt, taking one more jump before landing next to Mandy.
“Put her on speaker phone, Mandy!” demanded Carla, falling down on some pillows.
Mandy pressed the speaker phone button and said, “Now Claire, what did wiL Francis say when he called you?”
“wiL CALLED CLAIRE?!?!?!?!” the three of them shouting in unison.
Claire was blushing something awful on the other end of the line. She managed to say “Yes, he called.”
Carla tackled Mandy and shouted “DID HE CONFESS?! DID HE CONFESS?!”
Britt gave Carla a strange look. “What do you mean, confess? Claire’s not some sort of Catholic priest!”
“She means the Love thing, Britt,” said Chels, calmly ripping another bed sheet.
“I knew that,” mumbled Britt, stealing a pillow out from under Carla and hugging it to her chest.
“Well, did he?! I WANNA KNOW!” Mandy was on the edge of her seat, quite literally; in fact, she was about fall off the bed.
“Mandy! You’re making me nervous now!”
Carla took the phone, taking it off speakerphone. “You can tell me, Claire. You’re off speakerphone.”
“Carla, are you sure?”
“I solemnly swear,” she said, pressing the speakerphone button again.
“Okay, so wiL called…and he said…well, he said…he said…that…that…he…um…that he…loved me.”
The huge “AWWWW!” noise that came from the 4 girls was deafening. Claire spit out the rest of the Kool Aid out in shock.
“CARLA! You said I was off speaker phone!”
“I said that I solemnly swore. I forgot to say I was up to no good,” she said, winking at Chels who began to giggle violently.
“Wait, so what did you say?! What did you say?!” Britt shouted.
“I…I…said I loved him back.”
The second “AWWWW!” was much louder than the first.
“I think this is officially the most wonderful thing in the world,” said Carla, smiling from ear to ear. Britt and Mandy nodded in agreement. Chels ripped another sheet but she had a grin on her face.
“So, where are you right now?” Claire asked, trying to change the subject.
“Oh, we’re in this hotel by the airport,” said Mandy, lying down on her stomach, twirling a piece of hair around her finger.
“Yeah, Chels almost killed us getting here, though,” said Britt.
Chels grinned. “I never said I could drive. You guys just automatically assumed.”
“You didn’t give us much of a choice!” Britt retorted.
Chels merely shrugged.
“We’re waiting for Sami to call to tell us where the Aiden bus is. Hopefully, it’ll be soon.”
“Well, wiL called me from Sami’s phone. He said that Troy was driving and she was by him.”
A third collective “AWWWW!” sounded.
“They’re so adorable,” said Claire.
“She called us before and she said they’ve been kissing,” said Chels.
“OMG, RLY? NO WAI!” said Mandy, who hadn’t heard about this yet.
“YA WAI,” they said in unison.
“Guess you’re next, Mandy,” said Claire smugly.
“WHAT?!?!” Mandy was blushing again.
“Troy and Sami are together,” Claire said.
“And you and wiL are together,” Carla reminded her friend. Claire couldn’t help but squeak.
“Yeah, you’re next, Miss Mandy,” said Britt, throwing a pillow at her friend, who was a bright shade of pink.
“We’ll see when the bus gets here,” said Mandy. The gang laughed.
“Yeah, we’ll see,” said Claire. “Listen guys, I gotta go get some sleep. Not even the Kool Aid is keeping me up. I’ll talk to you all later, okay?”
“Okay, Sisface, get some sleep,” said Chels.
“We’ll call when the bus comes, which I’m totally painting rainbow colored,” said Mandy.
Claire laughed, “Goodnight guys.”
“NIGHT CLAIRE!” They shouted together.
“We should get some sleep too,” said Carla, when Mandy had hung up the phone.
The girls lay down on the huge bed they were on and fell asleep almost instantly.
