Chapter Twelve Tourbus
Troy Wambold drove furiously through the night, completely buzzed on coffee. He swerved around the abandoned cars that littered the highway, many of them simply left in the middle of the road after people had heard the news on their radios. It was a bit of an obstacle course, one that was hard to maneuver, but when buzzed on coffee, every twist and turn was a chance to crash into something. Sami gripped onto the bunk she was sitting on as tightly as she could, trying not to fall off. “Troy, slow down!” she pleaded as the bus hit a bump, which sent the girl flying onto the floor. The caffeine flowing through his veins was beginning to make him twitch as he continued to ram the accelerator. Sami tried to get herself up from the floor but when he swerved to the right, she slammed into the wall. Troy heard his girlfriend slam and wanted desperately to stop but his hands seemed glued to the steering wheel. He couldn’t think clearly; all he could think about was where to turn next. “TROY!” Sami shouted. She finally managed to get up off the floor. She realized that he wasn’t listening to her so she ran to the back of the bus to see if anyone was awake. Jake D. had been awakened from the force of the last right turn. He tried his best to stand up as the bus veered from side to side. He looked up and saw Sami, a terrified look etched onto her face. He made his way to her, gently grabbed her arm, and the two of them went to the front of the bus. Troy’s arm was twitching violently when Jake and Sami got to the front of the bus. Jake went up to Troy and slapped the back of this head which caused Troy to slam down on the brakes. The drummer grabbed his friend by the collar of this T-shirt and pulled him from the driver’s seat. “Troy, go to sleep. You’re running on nothing but 10 cups of coffee and you know you don’t do well under caffeine. We shouldn’t have let you drive like that.” Troy nodded absently as his arm continued to twitch at his side. Sami had never seen anyone freak out like that by just drinking coffee but if it had been 10 cups of coffee and without sleep, she could see how it could happen. “Thanks, Jake,” She whispered. “No problem. Just make sure he’s okay. He’s not used to that much coffee,” he said. Sami smiled weakly as she took Troy’s hand, the one that wasn’t twitching, and led him to his bunk. When he got to his bunk, Troy flopped down on it immediately. Sami, sitting on the edge of the bunk, watched him for a few minutes as his body continued to twitch. After a while, the twitching stopped and Troy’s breathing became gentle and smooth. Sami felt good enough to curl up next to him and fall asleep herself. It had been a long day. As soon as her head hit the pillow, however, Troy seemed to have other plans. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him, so close that their bodies were touching. Even though she had made out with him for a few minutes earlier in the afternoon, she still wasn’t used to the merchguy’s affections. A huge blush spread across her face as Troy began to gently nuzzle her neck, tickling her and sending shivers down her spine. As he began to kiss her directly below her ear, she let out a soft moaning noise. Troy lifted his head up and gently laughed. “You’re so adorable.” She turned over and kissed Troy. Her hands suddenly seemed to adopt minds of their own and they began to wander up the merchguy’s shirt and across his chest. Her face was bright red as she did so, even brighter due to the fact that Troy wasn’t stopping her; in fact, he seemed to be enjoying it. He helped her pull his shirt over his head and she continued to explore his skin with her fingertips. After a couple more minutes of kissing and touching in the bunk, Sami pulled away from the kiss and smiled. “I’m glad to see you’re not twitchy anymore.” Troy smiled back. “Me too. I’m sorry if I scared you, Sami. I know that I shouldn’t drink that much coffee.” They both giggled and continued to kiss.
