Chapter Nineteen
“My little brother’s getting married,” said Jake Wambold, sitting out in the hallway of the hotel.
“So is mine,” said Gerard, taking a seat next to him.
“It’s the weirdest s**t, isn’t it? I mean, something inside you tells you that you’re gonna get married before them but when you don’t, it doesn’t even matter. You’re just so happy for them.”
“Exactly,” Gee sighed. “I dunno, I broke up with my girlfriend a couple of months ago. I just called her, actually.”
“How’d that go?”
“She said she was happy to hear from me and that she’s spending time with her new boyfriend in Italy,” he sighed heavily, wishing he had a cigarette right now. “She always wanted to go to Italy.”
“Oh, I see. She had to tell you about her new flame, didn’t she?”
Gee gave a hollow laugh. “Of course. But I don’t blame her though. If I had a girlfriend, I’d probably tell her.”
Jake nodded. “I broke up with my girl too. She told me she didn’t think the world was going to end but really, I just don’t think she could handle the constant touring schedule anymore. She wanted me to stay with her and I couldn’t. I said she could come with me but she wouldn’t. Oh well, maybe it was for the better.”
“Yeah. Well three cheers for out little brothers then.”
Jake grinned. “Three cheers.”

Jake D., Angel, and Nick were looking through the jewelry stores. “Can’t you just get her a ring already?” Angel groaned.
“Yeah, we’ve been in 3 different stores!” Nick complained.
“I told you guys you didn’t have to come! I have to find the perfect ring for Mandy. If it’s not perfect, she’ll never say yes,” Jake mumbled, blushing furiously.
“Jake, she’s gonna say yes, whether you get her a diamond ring or an onion ring,” said Nick sincerely.
“You think so?”
“We KNOW so!” shouted Angel. “Now, how about that one?” he said, pointing to a ring that made Jake’s eyes light up.
“That’s it! That’s the one!” The drummer gave his friend a tight hug. He asked the jeweler for the ring and he put it into small, red box and handed it him. He held it in his hands, simply staring at it until Angel and Nick had to drag him out of the store.

Sami stood outside the dress store, staring at the wedding dresses in the window. The rest of The Family was inside, rushing around trying to find something to wear. The one dress in the window was catching her eye; a floor length strapless white dress with a big puffed out skirt. She sighed, shook her head and went to go into the store with her friends when someone gently grabbed her hand. It was Troy. He was wearing a suit and tie, which was quite unlike him but she thought it was probably because of the Chemical Weddings.
“Hey,” he said quietly. Sami looked at him in confusion. He didn’t seem himself.
“Troy, what’s wrong with you? You haven’t talked to me for the past day and a half.”
“I know and I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I was just nervous about going to Vegas, that’s all.”
“Why? There’s nothing to be nervous about.”
Troy looked at the floor and shuffled his feet a little. Sami also noticed he was wearing freshly shined shoes. “Yes, there is,” he mumbled, looking up at her with his big blue eyes. Holding both of her hands in his, he told her, “Sami, I love you. You mean everything to me. And I know we only have a few more days to live but I know that I just wouldn’t be able to live them without you.” What he did next made her gasp.
He let go of her hand for a moment, reached into the pocket of his suit jacket, and pulled something out. Taking Sami’s left hand with his free hand, he got down on one knee and opened the object; it was a ring box, with a beautiful ring inside of it. Sami stared at it wide-eyed and Troy asked, “Sami, will you marry me?”
“Yes,” she said without hesitation,” Yes, of course!”
A huge grin spread across Troy’s face as he slipped the ring on her finger. It fit perfectly. He threw the ring box over his shoulder and swept Sami up into a huge hug. As she kissed him, she began to cry.
Troy whispered in her ear, “Don’t cry, love.”
“I’m crying because I’m happy. I never thought I would ever be this happy.”
He set her down on the ground again but she didn’t let go of him. She stepped back for a moment and smiled.
“Wow. You really clean up in a suit.”
He laughed. “Come on, love; let’s get you a fabulous dress.”
The two of them walked into the dress shop.
