Lavi: feeling foreign today, are we author-chan?
Author: ah, well i just finished watching a subbed episode, and so, yeah, I'm feeling foreign. ^ ^
Kanda: you're certainly foreign to me...
Alteara: Kanda! That wasn't nice!
Kanda: oops.
Lavi: don't worry author-chan, Yuu-chan is just having some girl issues.
Kanda: what...
Lavi: and apparently is becoming senile.
Author: *rolling on the floor with laughter*
Allen: so author chan, I've heard that you came up with some major inspiration for this story?
Author: yup ^ ^ i was thinking about it last night, and all of this great stuff came to me! so now I'm hyped up and ready to go! Though once i catch up to as far as I've written, I'm going to take a short break to play with yuu-chan in wonderland.
Kanda: oh goody. - -
Lenalee: I'm still mad that I'm the drugged up caterpillar... *huff*
Author: well I'm still angry that D. Gray man is taking forever to come out with new episodes, and that i have to wait for new manga. but we don't all get what we want do we?
Lenalee: humph.
Lavi: So how is the baby? *cuddles egg*
Alteara: he's doing great! You know... ah... i shouldn't say...
Group...?
Alteara: well.. i caught kanda... singing to it the other day ^ ^ *blush*
Group: *all turn to stare at kanda* o o
Kanda: I was not singing to it, i was just... uh... yelling at it...
Lavi: to a melody?
Kanda: shut up.
Author: aw, that's so cute! Laviii! you should sing to the egg too!
Lavi: uh... *blush* okay?
Author: YAY! but before we start that, someone do the disclaimer.
Allen: Author-chan would like to remind everyone that she does not own D. Gray man.
Lenalee: if she did... it would totally be a musical. *snickers*
Author: - - shut up and get into your places.
Pieces of the Heart part 3
Lavi carefully glanced down the hallway, checking for anyone who may have been stalking the door to Allen's room that day.
After the incident a few days ago, Allen had been a complete emotional wreck, numb to the outside world. Lavi, being Allen's friend, had decided it would be best to protect the boy from the judgment of the world until he could at least sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time.
So far, his record was 8.
So lavi had remained in Allen's room, comforting the boy, and today was day 5. Not wanting Allen (or himself) to starve, Lavi had begun a routine of sneaking out of the room to grab some food and rushing back a few times a day, and after the third day when he had been captured by Lenalee and threatened by Komoui, he quickly learned that he could do this successfully if no one spotted him. Everyone was curious as to why the resident 'ray of sunshine' Allen Walker was hiding in his room and refusing any company accept that of the red-headed bookman.
Lavi sighed. He had to keep it a secret, if only for Allen. This was one problem he wouldn't advertise to the whole order.
As he leaned out the door again, glancing back and forth, he spotted an empty hallway. Well, empty accept for Kanda, who had started a strange habit of sitting outside of his room for hours at a time in a meditative state. Lavi grinned a little. He knew Kanda was also worried, and probably grumpier than usual now that his main aggresional outlets were hiding constantly.
Deciding the coast was clear, Lavi darted into the hallway. Kanda opened one eye, raising a delicate brow at the Bookman before standing. He caught up to Lavi (who had been darting around in a very James Bond like manner) and walked quietly next to him.
Lavi remained silent. So did Kanda. The two had an unwritten agreement that at the moment it was best to keep quiet.
"LAVI!"
The Jr. Bookman jumped and almost toppled over when a dark blur smashed into his arm at high speeds. Kanda looked confused as well (but only for a moment) until both registered the black blob as Lenalee.
"Lavi!" she cried again, sounding almost desperate. "Please! Tell me whats wrong with Allen-kun! Is he ill? Let me help!" She clung onto his arm, almost pulling him down.
"l-lenalee..." Lavi stared down at the helpless girl who was crying for all she was worth. She really was worried about Allen, and Lavi felt extremely guilty about keeping it a secret, but Allen had to be the one to tell everyone, not Lavi. So he shook his head, keeping his mouth closed.
"PLEASE!" Lenalee cried.
"He's not going to answer." Kanda sighed, leaning against a wall.
"you would know." lavi grinned. "you've been sitting out here every day waiting."
"Che." Kanda looked away.
"LAVI PLEASE!" Lenalee yelled, moving her assault to the front of his jacket, hoping a direct approach would soften the boys determination. Her large sparkling eyes overflowed with tears. Lavi turned away.
"Lenalee... its not for me to say..."
"That's right." kanda said from the wall, still looking away. "We should leave the explaining to him."
The two turned with confused glances to Kanda, who motioned down the hallway with a shrug. Lavi tried to tilt his head while Lenalee peered around him.
"A...ALLEN-KUN!" Lenalee shrieked, spotting the short boy walking slowly down the hall. He was wearing his exorcist jacket, the hood hiding his head. The girl turned to rush toward him, but was held back by her wrist. She turned.
"Let Go Lavi." she snapped.
In return, the bookman sent her an icy glare, melting her anger. She had never seen him look at her like that...
Allen walked forward quietly until he stopped perpendicular to Kanda. "hi guys." he said quietly. Kanda raised an eyebrow at the broken sound to his voice, as if he had been screaming for a long time.
"Allen..." lenalee said softly. "are you okay?"
"Well Moyashi." kanda demanded. "whats the meaning of this."
"its just... one less thing for you to bother me about..." Allen said softly. Lavi could hear his bitter smile in his voice.
"w-what are you..?" lenalee stared, completely lost at the boys words. Kanda, however, suddenly looked shocked before jolting off the wall. In an instant he was behind the British boy, and tugged down his hood.
Allen's face remained neutral, as if he had expected this reaction. Lenalee gasped.
"Allen... your... you-"
"That's right." Allen smiled, but gesture never reached his eyes. Kanda stood behind him, glaring down the back of his head. His eyes flicked to Lavi as if in question. When he received a curt nod from the red-head, he turned and disappeared down the hallway without a sound. Lavi released Lenalee's wrist, but the shocked girl didn't move, letting her arm fall limply to her side.
"B-but Allen..." she was crying, and wasn't sure why. "Why...? What happened?!"
"if i knew..." Allen responded softly, "i would tell you..."
Lavi smiled sadly. No one knew. That was just the problem, and why Lavi had been trying to convince the boy to leave his room for the past five days. He needed to see Komoui urgently. Otherwise, how would they ever figure out why this was happening.
Why slowly but surly, every piece of Allen's curse, his scar, the silver eyes, and the white hair, were disappearing.
Lavi looked into Allens eyes, one a shining silver and the other mixed strangely with an amber brown. He traced the broken cursed scar, that had become dotted instead of a straight line, and finally, he glanced over Allens hair, eyes dancing around the half inch of mousy brown roots. He sighed.
Lenalee stared in awe. She had heard once, in some form of passing, that Allens hair had originally been brown, but the thought never crossed her mind that his eyes had been brown too, or that either would ever return to normal. She looked to Allen, who was smiling. She sobbed before jumping to action, rushing up to pull the boy into a tight hug.
"Oh... Allen-kun..." she cried softly. Allen allowed himself to slack into the embrace, but he didn't cry. Not anymore. That was all he had done with lavi for the past five days, while he was fighting with the question of why he had been suddenly abandoned by the curse he had come to see as a gift. Why had his only remaining physical connection with Mana been so suddenly torn from him? What had he done wrong? What did he do that could possibly deserve this...?

(brand new added scene!!)
Lenalee and Allen sat at an empty table amongst the sea of finders and other exorcists in the cafeteria. As they ate quietly, Lavi surveyed the area. Once he and Allen had left the safety of the room, he had expected to be bombarded with all sorts of questions, or random finders wondering why Sir Walker suddenly looked different, or if he would be okay. But to his amazement, none had come forward. At first, he felt a little sad. Would Allen be hurt by the lack of caring? But when he looked to the white haired boy, he decided that if Allen couldn't even continue a conversation with Lenalee for more than 3 minutes, there was no way he could hold one with many finders, and thanked his lucky stars that everyone had decided to ignore them today. But then he stopped and looked.
A lot of the finders would look over this way, and worriedly look at the others at their table. They seemed concerned enough, so why the distance? He watched as a specific group turned to glance worriedly at Allen, before turning to look to the left. Following their gaze, Lavi's questions were answered. Kanda was standing in the cafeteria, leaning against one of the large pillars in the darker area of the room. He glared at several tables, (lavi giggled as each table would flinch) before glancing at Allen. Lavi grinned. He hopped off his seat, informing the other two that he would be right back, and then skipped over to kanda.
"so Yuu-chan, you're the reason why everyone is so kindly giving Allen his space?"
"Shut up baka usagi." Kanda growled quietly. "i just convinced them that it would be in their best interest to leave him alone."
"So you threatened them with death." Lavi finished.
Kanda grunted.
After a moment, lavi's goofy face turned serious.
"Listen, Kanda."
Kanda's ears perked at the use of his preferred name. This was serious.
"Something else has been going on with Allen."
Kanda raised a brow in interest, but let Lavi continue.
"The past five days, he's been confiding in me, and i found out something important. Apparently, some one's been harassing him."
"eh?" Kanda voiced. "What do you mean?"
"He said things like... he hears voices following him, and they laugh at him..."
"He's just overly stressed." Kanda rationalized.
"But that's not all." Lavi frowned. "He wakes up and his room is trashed, things are broken, misplaced, or just plain gone. Its happened a couple of times. I never saw it happen, but it would explain why Allen has been acting weird for a few weeks now. He was all nervous and fidgety, acting like he was guilty. He's scared."
Kanda stood in silence. He was wracking his brain. His room was right down the hall from the moyashi, so how had someone come into his room and destroyed his stuff with out Kanda hearing? It wasn't like he was a heavy sleeper... He would hear the sound of furniture breaking in an instant...
"What do you think?" Lavi said quietly. He looked to kanda, and the samurai realized that this was one of those rare instances where Lavi genuinely needed his help with something. He sighed.
"I'll keep an eye out." he said, hand fidgeting with the hilt of Mugen, "but you should stay with the moyashi for a while. It might help."
Lavi nodded eagerly before breaking out into his trademark grin. "You're such a pal Yuu-chan!" Lavi laughed, patting the samurai on the shoulder. He quickly dodged the sword aimed for his neck and bounced back over to the table where Lenalee and Allen seemed to be slightly more cheerful.
"And what is going on over here?" lavi laughed, plopping himself down next to Allen and poking the boy in the side, earning a surprised squeak.
"i was remembering last years Christmas party with Allen-kun." Lenalee smiled. Lavi blinked for a moment, before bursting out into laughter.
"T-t-t-the one with the... the thing... and ... and ... Yuu-chan!!" he gasped out between harsh laughter. Allen and Lenalee smiled and chuckled as well, the laughter contagious.
And it had been that funny.
After a nice meal, (in which lavi was pleased to see Allen eating more than three plates of food, but it still wasn't enough calm his concern) Allen stated that he was feeling kind of tired, and was going to retire to his room. Lenalee bid him farewell, and that she would come and check on him in the morning. Before she left, Lavi caught her arm.
"Hey." he whispered to her, keeping Allen from hearing. "if you could, set up an appointment with Komoui for Allen. He needs it."
Lenalee nodded in understanding before sending Allen another cheerful wave and bouncing away.
"Well Moyashi-kun!" lavi laughed, placing his arm on the top of Allen's head like an arm rest. "Shall we go?"
"its Allen!" Allen snapped, pulling Lavi's arm from his head. Lavi grinned at the almost normal feeling of the comment.
And together, the two headed for Allen's room.

"Allen-kun... Allen-kun!" Lenalee called softly through the closed door in front of her. Komoui had agreed to a check up of the white haired boy, especially after hearing about what was happening. So he sent Lenalee to fetch the boy. The door opened to reveal a tired looking Lavi.
"Lenalee..." he moaned, rubbing his only visible eye, "do you KNOW what time it is?"
"I know it's early Lavi but-"
"No." he snapped, "It's not early... its 3AM! Not only that, but this is the longest ive seen Allen sleep in a long time!" he lowered his voice, glancing over at the British boy who was sleeping fitfully. "Can't it wait?!"
Lenalee shook her head sadly, dark pigtails bouncing. "I'm sorry Lavi..." she replied softly, "Nii-san wants this to be private to keep people from worrying. He said it was better at night..."
Lavi stared at her for a moment, and she couldnt tell if he was annoyed or just angry.
"I'll get him..." he sighed, running a hand through his dishevelled red locks. He dissapeared into the dark room, and lenalee couldnt help but lean in to peak at the two. Lavi wobbled over his own makeshift bed on the floor to the bed pushed against the wall. Kneeling on the edge of it, he gently shook its occupant. Lenalee could see Allen's face and hear his harsh breathing. She gaped at the dark rings around his eyes, much more visible now than before, and how ill he looked.
"S'getting a fever..." lavi mumbled before shaking Allen again. "Com'on buddy..." Lavi said softly, "komoui's callin'..."
The small boy moaned softly. Two eyes flicked open, one an amber brown, and the other silver with a hit of brown on the edges. He looked up at Lavi, and for an instant Lavi thought he was going to start crying, but instead he just looked up at the bookman sadly and mumbled.
"What'sit..?"
"Allen." Lavi said softly, helping him into a sitting position. "Komoui wants to see you."
Allen nodded numbly before trying to pull himself to a stand. He began to sink to the ground, only to be stopped by Lavi, who pulled the boy back onto the bed.
"Easy there killer." Lavi laughed at Allens obvious confusion as to why his limbs refused to cooperate. "it looks like you've got a little fever, so why dont i just give you a lift?" Lavi turned and directed to his back, sticking his arms out behind him. Allen nodded, not realizing that lavi wouldnt see it, and climbed on to the Jr. bookmans back. As they started for the door, Lenalee ducked back out.
Lavi emurged with Allen, who was seeming more alert by the moment. Lanelee smiled.
"Nii-san would like to see you."
Allen nodded.

"My, My, My!" Komoui called loudly as the group entered the lab area. He laughed at Allen and Lavi. "Is he your slave now Allen-kun?"
Allen glared. "Of course not!" he snapped, squirming so Lavi would put him down. Once on the floor, he wobbled over to the examaning table.
"Yeah!" Lavi yelled. "I'm just his horse~!!"
Allen shot him an exhasperated look.
"Alright, alright." Komoui laughed. Then he turned to Allen, face serious.
"Allen-kun, I brought you here so that i could give you a full examination."
Allen's face was the picture of terror as he imagined drills of many sizes...
"Relax Allen-kun." komoui chuckled, "I'll do my best to make it as painless as possible. We just need to make sure you're okay."
"O-okay..." Allen gulped, but then tried to smile. He waved good bye to Lenalee and Lavi as the two left the room, leaving only Allen and the mad scientist.
"alright Allen..." komoui smiled soflty. "Lets take a look at you."
