Pieces of the Heart
Part 8
Allen felt like his body was floating in a thick patch of fog. Everything was swimming around him, in soft clips of words and flashes of feeling. His body began to feel heavy, and he sank down, crushed by the feeling. Even though his eyelids felt like they were made of lead, he managed to pull them open, curious as to what he might meet this time.
The room he was in was dark, lit only by the small machines on bookending the many beds surrounding him, and the faint glow from the nurses station at the far end of the room.
"so im in the infirmary..." he mumbled softly, trying to pull himself up to a sitting position.
"Good Evening."
Allen's head snapped to the soft voice at his side, cringing at the momentary sting of pain from his neck.
"Rest." the voice responded. "You're still worn out and sick."
Allen blinked, staring at the figure speaking to him. It was a girl, with dark red locks, seated comfortably on a chair next to his bed. He recognized her as the girl he had seen in his dream. The one who brought the shade of the tree...
"Who are you?" He asked the girl soflty, watching as she camly examined him with her dark green eyes.
"I am a friend." She replied simply. Allen wasn't convinced.
"What's your name?"
"Luna." the girl said softly. "And i am here to help you."
"With what?"
Allen jerked when the room fazed, the image of the girl in front of him becoming fuzzy and broken.
Her voice was full of static and broken. Allen stared.
"My...?"
And the world dissolved.
***
Allen's hands flew to the edges of his bed as he held on. The room stopped its incesent spinning and shaking just enough for him to relax. He released his grip and slowly opened his eyes, only to groan as white hot light stung his pupils. After a few more attempts, He was finally able to open his eyes and survey the room. The previously empty ward was full of injured people, and nurses bustling about quietly.
"Walker-sama!"
the cry hit Allen's head like a football, causing him to flinch and pull his face into his hands, trying to hide. He jumped at the gentle hands on his back, guiding him back into a laying position. Looking up, he met the crystal blue eyes of a blonde nurse.
"You musn't get up yet." she said, much more softly to Allen's releif. "You still need to rest."
"Rest."
Allen blinked as the words of his strange visitor returned to him. Just who was that...?
"Ill be right back." the nurse cooed, smoothing Allen's hair out of his face with a smile. Allen returned the gesture.
"So you're finally awake beansprout?"
"its Allen, Al-len. Come on, say it with me now..."
"Che."
Allen smiled softly at Kanda, who was sitting in a chair across the room. He looked tired, which was saying something for the samurai who was usually completely cool and composed.
"How long have i been out?" Allen sighed, looking at his hands and raising a brow at one of his arms which was completely bandaged from wrist to elbow.
"Around a week." kanda shrugged.
"Why are you over there?" Allen asked, questioning the position of the Samurai.
Allen was suprised when his expected biting answer never came. Kanda was silent, looking at the floor with concentration, until Allen thought he might have fallen asleep.
"Allen."
The silver haired boy's eyes widened at the sudden adress. Kanda was staring at him with a serious expression.
"From now on, I'll be staying with you as a guard."
Allen blinked, digesting this information. What had happened while he was asleep? He knew that Tim had been attacked... but why the sudden urgency for Allen to be guarded by another exorsist...?
"Lavi was attacked and almost died."
If Allen could have gone paler, he would have. He stared hard at the silent boy across from him, disbelief written across his face.
"Wai...wait." he put a hand to his head, shaking it for a moment, trying to calm his mind. Lavi was attacked!? What did he mean!?
Allen looked back to see Kanda staring into the bed next to him. It's occupant was tied up in wires and almost invisible under the blankets. All Allen could see was a tuft of violent red hair.
"l...lavi..." His shaking hands pulled the blankets from his body as his mind focused soley on getting across the room and to the side of his friend. He hopped onto the floor, but as soon as his feet touched the cold tile, his knee's gave out and he was forced down. He was still trying to fight to a stand when a pair of strong arms wrapped around his waist and under his legs and he was lifted into the air.
"K-kanda!" Allen gasped at the boy who was carrying him over to the red head.
"You wanted to see him right?" Kanda motioned to Lavi.
"y-yeah..." Allen nodded shakily, gripping the fabric on the front of Kanda's shirt for safety. He leaned into the grip, enjoying the safety and warmth of another person, even if it was only for a moment. From this angle, Allen could see the dark circles under Kanda's eyes. He must have been very worried for Lavi...
Allen blinked when he realized he was no longer moving. Kanda leaned down and set Allen into the chair he had previously been using, giving him a clear view of Lavi. Allen adjusted himself for a moment, enjoying the lingering warmth of the chair, before leaning over to see the sleeping bookman.
Lavi was looking better each day. His cheeks had regained color, and he was breathing more easily on his own. The only sign of a problem was the gauze still tightly wrapped around his chest.
"How... how did this happen?" Allen frowned, gently reaching out as if to touch Lavi's face. Kanda raised a brow when the boy hesitated, before simply brushing away the boys red hair from his eyes.
"He was stabbed." Kanda said darkly. "Five times, straight through."
Allen's hand flew to his mouth, trying to hide the gasp.
"This... this is all my fault..." He curled up in the chair he was sitting in, trying to hide his face from his companions. Lavi had been kind enough to help him, and was hurt, and now Kanda's life was in danger, which was probably why he looked so tired...
Who else was he going to burden?
"Unless you were the one who physically stabbed this baka, then nothing here is your fault."
Allen looked up in disbelief. Kanda was being nice!?
The samurai was looking away, making it a point not to look at the small boy in front of him.
"In case you have forgotten, someone is trying to get you. Most likley, it was them who attacked Lavi and Lenalee and-"
"Lenalee was attacked!?" Allen's head shot up and whiped around to face Kanda. "Is she alright!? Was anyone else hurt!?"
"She's fine." Kanda snapped. "She was just thrown off the balcony. But you should really be ore worried-"
"THROWN OFF THE BALCONY!?" Allen's eyes bulged. "Oh my god, is she okay!? oh god, komoui is going to KILL me-AUGH!"
Allen cried out when Kanda's fist collided with the back of his skull, causing his forehead to smash into his knees.
"What was that for!?" Allen snapped, seething up at Kanda and holding the two large lumps forming.
"I said" kanda snapped. "you should be more worried about yourself!"
Allen blinked up at kanda, who took a deep breath and closed his eyes, as if trying to calm himself.
"When we were attacked... you were here alone."
Allen stared. Then blinked. Kanda was looking down at him with an expression he couldnt read.
"Show me your arm."
Allen jumped back to reality for a moment, before handing over his gauzed arm to Kanda, who proceded to unwrap it. When it finally fell away, Kanda heard a sharp intake of breath.
Allen stared down at his arm as if it were trying to eat him. The letters encarved in his flesh were raised and scabbed in a jagged and mocked attempt at writing. Dark red fingers came to gently trace over the letters, slowly mouthed by Allen, but not said. Kanda watched him closely.
"I think..."
Allen's voice sounded dry and forced. Kanda quickly looked around and located a garbage can.
"I think I'm gonna..."
Kanda forced the can in front of Allen just as the boy began to heave, loosing what little contents his stomach had. Cool hands came up to support the boy's weak body as he continued to lurch into the can. He leaned into the cool hand on his forehead, not caring that he was crying, or a complete mess. All he needed right now was someone to be there for him. Someone to help him. He needed someone he could lean on, and right now, his only option was Kanda. He didnt care if the samurai hated him later. He had no choice. When his stomach finally stilled, Allen reached up and pulled on the sleeve of the elder exorsist, trying to pull him closer. When he didn't feel a refusal, he pulled the hand down to his chest, gripping onto the wrist with both hands and leaning his head on the cool fabric, still crying harshly. Kanda stood, bent over at a strange angle as Allen used his arm as a lifeline. He looked around the room, making eye contact with the few nurses left, and they all dissapeared into the nurses ward. All of the other patients were sleeping.
Allen squeaked when he felt another arm circle his waist before he was lifted into the air. After a dizzying move that left Allen's head spinning, Kanda had seated himself on the chair, and planted Allen sideways on his lap. The silver haired boy looked up at him with confusion, tears still streaming down his face.
"Just this once." Kanda said softly. Allen blinked before he felt his resolve break and he buried his face into kanda's shoulders, wrapping both arms around his neck in a weak hug and sobbing loudly. He was suprised when he felt Kanda's arms snake around his back, returning the small hug and moving in calming circles. Allen's eyes began to feel heavy again, and even though he didnt want to fall asleep, not when he wanted enjoy Kanda's company just a little longer, the combination of feeling safe and comforted was too much, and he fell into a deep sleep.
***
Kanda sighed and moved a bit. He couldnt remember just what had happened, but he was waking up somewhere with a stiff back and neck, and more weight than normal on his chest. He felt so tired, he couldnt open his eyes.
"Yuu-chan~"
Kanda groaned. The last thing he needed was that annoying bookman bugging him while he was sleeping so peacefully...
wait...
"Lavi!?" Kanda's head jerked up and he got a face full of white hair. Blinking for a moment, Kanda looked down to see Allen on his lap, face still buried in his jacket and fists still clenched into his shoulders. So thats what that weight was...
"Having fun there yuu-chan?" the red head laughed from his bed, leaning to see the pair eaiser. Kanda growled softly, but just adjusted the sleeping boy, allowing him to remain in place. Lavi stared in amusement. Unbeknownst to the others, lavi actually knew how soft Kanda could be. But the situation had to be critical. There was only one instance lavi could remember Kanda treating himself like that, and it had been so horrible that lavi refused to remember it.
"What happened?" The red head said soflty, motioning to Allen.
"I should ask you that." kanda replied. "Who attacked you?"
Lavi blinked for a moment, eyes searching the room, before he shrugged.
"i dont even remember being attacked..." he said. "i just remember walking in on miranda... and then running through the hallway and then... nothing. My minds a blank."
Kanda softly hissed out a curse. "Whoever has been hurting the moyashi took a swing at the order. 42 finders, you, lenalee, and allen were all attacked."
Lavi stared, mouth open. "Is everyone..."
"Lenalee was thrown off the balcony in the core, but shes fine. You were the worst of the attacks. When you got into the ward, you were practically dead. Ive never seen bookman panic so much."
Lavi grinned, shaking his head, then motioned to Allen.
"What about him?"
kanda sighed, before pulling one of Allen's arms from his shoulders and extending it for the bookman to see. Lavi paled, eyes absorbing the image before he turned away.
"That's sick." he spat, turning back to kanda who had replaced the boy's arm. "Why does he want Allen? Why didn't he just take him?"
Kanda sighed. "He probably didnt want us to figure out who it was just yet. If someone dissapears the same day as Allen, its safe to say thats who did it..."
Lavi nodded as well. The boys froze when Allen groaned and snuggled into Kanda's chest. Lavi laughed as kanda looked down at the boy in annoyance.
"Looks like he's nice and comfy!" lavi laughed. The red head started to cough, jaring his injuries and causing him to wince. Kanda looked on sadly.
"This is really getting serious." He sighed. "You could have died. This guy means war."
Lavi nodded, trying to catch his breath. Kanda stood, adjusting Allen before moving the boy back to his bed. A nurse rushed over to check him over and make him comfortable again. Kanda ran a hand through his hair as he stood in place next to Lavi's bed. Lavi smiled at him goofily.
"Have you seen komoui yet?" Kanda said, sleepily. Lavi shook his head no.
"Fine." kanda grabbed a golem, which had been floating silently around the infirmary, and moved over to the nurses station, attaching it to a phone.
***
"Why did you come again?" Allen sat up in bed, looking at the red headed girl sitting in the chair next to him.
"i am here to help." She smiled warmly.
"Yes..." allen sighed. "you said that already... but with what?"
"I already told you. Your darkness."
"What darkness? Where did it come from? What is it doing!?" Allen's voice jumped in pitch. He wanted answers. Why did he keep waking up alone in the infirmary with a girl he didnt know?!
"That darkness will consume your heart." the girl said darkly. "And you will not be able to fight it. You must keep living. However, you will not be without help." The girl waved a bangled hand, the small accesories tinkleing like bells. A light appeared on the other side of Allen's bed. He turned to his desk just as the work began to faze.
"Not again!" he moaned, just as the world went dark.
***
"Im so glad.... i thought... but.... and then... when did... thank.... "
Allen scrunched his face in discomfort, trying to block out the sound of conversation as he dug his face into his pillow. When did he get back on the bed? Kanda must have dumped him there, he thought. He felt his face heating up at the thought of facing Kanda after blubbering like a fool at him. On his lap of all places!!
He would never live it down...
"Allen.... Allen-kun?"
At hearing his own name, Allen decided that his game of 'pretending im asleep' wasnt going to last, so he rolled over and sat up, rubbing his face with a hand. His motions froze when he remembered just what that same arm had engraved upon it. He quickly pulled it away from his face, seeing white gauze once more covering his arm. Maybe if he didnt look at it, he could pretend it wasnt there.
"Are you alright Allen-kun?"
Allen looked up to see Komoui, eyes gleaming with concern and flashing down to the gauze. Allen smiled softly and nodded.
"Just a bit tired." he winced at the strained sound of his voice. His throat had not had a happy morning. Komoui smiled in return.
"Im glad. We were all worried."
Allen blinked before looking past the older man to see Lenalee staring at him happily from Lavi's bedside. The redhead was waving. Kanda was no where in site.
"W-where's Kanda?" Allen paled, looking around intently. This was no time to be wandering around alone, especially if he had just been appointed Kanda's guard. Lavi was the closest thing he had had to a guard before, and look what happened to him...
"Relax Allen-kun." Komoui smiled before he pointed to a chair in the corner. Kanda was sitting in it, head resting on a fist that was propped up on the armrest. Allen blinked. Kanda's eyes were closed, and he was breathing deeply...
"He's sleeping?" Allen stared. Somehow, he had thought that the samurai never slept. He always seemed awake and alert, no matter how long he had already been going. He realized that thought was absurd, that everyone needed to sleep, but Kanda just seemed special.
"Better take a picture Allen-chan!" Lavi whispered. "Yuu-chan NEVER sleeps infront of other people. This is like the ultimate sign of trust! Its like being accepted by a wild Lion! Its like getting a bird to eat out of your hand! its like... its like... winning the lottery!" At the last statement, Lavi whipped out a large black expo marker, pulling the cap off.
"Lavi!" lenalee chided, taking the marker from her friend. "Kanda trusts us enough to let us protect him! Don't mess it up!"
Allen smiled at his friends, eyes returning to the sleeping samurai figure. He looked exhausted. Allen suddenly felt guilty about what he had dumped on the boy before. He didnt need weak people crying on him when he obviously needed to sleep.
"What was he doing that made him so tired?" One of the nurses asked as she carefully drapped a blanket over the man's shoulders. (risky!!)
Komoui sighed, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"He's been guarding the medical wing like a mad dog for the past week." he sighed. "everyone who came in or out, even nurses, were subjected to his death glare! Of course, that required him to be awake the whole time."
Lenalee gasped as Lavi sat with his mouth open.
"The WHOLE time!?" Allen cried softly. "he didnt sleep at ALL!?"
"A few minutes here and there." komoui shrugged. "but other than that..."
Allen stared with new found admiration at the sleeping boy in the corner.
"Well isnt this just a day of firsts..." lavi grinned, a knowing smile plastered on his face.
Kanda sneezed.
The group stared.
"Quit talkin 'bout me" he mumbled before shifting in the chair and curling into the blanket.
The group deadpanned.
"Anyway... we've got alot of work to do on you boys." komoui grinned at lavi and Allen. The two boys shivered, sinking into their blankets.
"No one here but us bedsheets!" Allen cried.
"Yeah! Just lint here!" lavi responded.
Komoui grinned.
"There will be caaaaaakeee...."
"cake!?" Allen popped up out of the blanket, only to be caught by Komoui's iron grip.
"Ah! noooo!!! This is not cake!! Do Not Want!!! Lavi it's a trap, run!!" Allen cried as he squirmed in an attempt at freedom. Lavi meeped under the blanket before bolting out of bed, only to be snagged by the head nurse.
"And where do you think you're going?" she boomed.
"Ah, nurse, you're so cruel!!" Lavi cried, tears flowing.
"To the Laboratory!!"
Evil laughter filled the order, causing many, if not all, of the finders to flinch.
***
"Im really glad you're okay."
Lavi's head popped up from the book he had been reading to look at the white haired boy across the infirmary from him. Allen was looking at him with eyes filled with sadness and guilt. Lavi sighed.
"Nah, beansprout!" he shut the book with a snap. "It wasn't your fault! I was just careless."
Allen's eyes turned down to burn a hole in his blankets. Lavi blinked for a moment, not likeing the akward silence.
"Uh.. so... how are you feeling?"
Allen looked back up with a small smile, which, lavi noticed, was rather forced.
"Much better. The nurses said i should be released in a few days. I just have to come back to have... this... changed." At 'this' he held up his gauzed arm. Lavi had noted in his time with Allen that the boy liked to pretend that the wound on his arm didnt exist, and sometimes, acted like that arm wasnt even there, purposefully using his other arm instead. Even now, as Allen held up his arm to explain what he meant to lavi, his eyes were glaring elsewhere.
"Well," lavi smiled, "thats good! Im stuck in here for a few more weeks. Apparently the nurses think i might have cracked a rib or two and bookman is being a pansy about it!" Lavi broke off into a strong laugh, which died quickly when no one else joined in. He looked to Allen, who was staring into his lap again. He sighed.
"Oi, beansprout, if you keep moping, your hair is going to fall out."
The two turned to Kanda, who was sitting up on a bed of his own, rubbing his eyes in what lavi thought was an almost child-like manner.
"Ah, did you get enough rest Kanda?" Allen smiled lightly to the older boy who only 'che'd' in response. Lavi quirked his head for a moment.
Why was it that Allen was colder to him than he was to Kanda? Could it be the guilt of the attack? Wasn't Kanda targeted? While thinking of these answers, Lavi's eyes traveled to Allen's bedstand.
"...Allen..." lavi caught the attention of both boys at his call. "Where did that statue come from?"
Allen whipped around to the table, fearfull of what he might find. However, on the nightstand was a simple stone statue. He reached out for it, but another hand got to it first.
"Carefull beansprout." Kanda snapped, examining the object. Allen would have protested, but having Kanda look it over first almost made him feel safer...
It was just a small statue, designed to look like a sitting fox. It was carved out of a soft violet stone, that seemed to turn blue in the light, and was about three inches tall. Once Kanda deemed that there was no harmfull aspects to the object, he held it out for Allen to take, catching the light shake in the smaller boys hands as he gently held the small figure.
Allen turned it over in his hands for a moment.
"Ah.. i remember now!" he smiled, holding the figure up to the light. "Luna gave this to me!"
Kanda and Lavi stared.
"Who is luna?" Kanda snapped. Allen smiled back, looking more cheerful.
"You've probably seen her." he explained. "She comes to visit me sometimes at night. Though... usually no one is around.... " At this he looked a little confused, furrowing his brows.
Confusion crossed Lavi's face. "From what i remember, there is no one with the name 'Luna' in this branch of the order..."
"And what do you mean 'no one is around'!?" kanda snapped. Allen blinked up at him.
"I mean, when she comes, im usually here by myself."
Kanda glared at him. "You're being stalked by a crazy person, and are in a medical ward with other patients, and you think that there's one point in the day where you're completely alone?"
Allen's eyes widened. "But then... how?"
"Hey, let me see that!" lavi called, reaching his arms out like a child. Allen handed the stone to kanda to take to lavi. When the fox touched Kanda's hands, the samurai jumped, and stared at the creature.
"What is it?" Allen asked urgently.
"N-nothing." kanda snapped, hiding his confusion and walking over to lavi. He had been certain for a moment that he had felt some strange energy from the animal.. but.. it felt... good. Clean, and pure. Something that would ultimitly help someone plauged by darkness...
He dropped the stone in Lavi's hands, and the bookman immediatly set to work memorizing all aspects of the small animal.
"So you really think some imaginary chick gave that to you?" kanda crossed his arms and turned back to Allen.
"She's not imaginary!" Allen snapped. "How would i get that, if she wasnt real."
"It could be from the stalker." Lavi said quickly, before he caught his mistake and his eyes flew up to Allen apologetically. The small boy was shaking slightly, gripping his gauzed arm.
"Nice going baka." Kanda mumbled. Lavi sighed, mentally beating himself for his slip. He was so caught up in the mystery, he had forgotten about the players themselves.
"I don't think it's bad." Kanda said, loud enough to catch Allen's attention. Both boys looked at him quizically. Kanda shrugged. "Something about it felt... pure. Like its here for protection."
"My.. guardian." Allen blinked. "That's what Luna called it. She said it would protect me from the darkness."
Lavi's eyes narrowed. Darkness..?
"At any rate." Kanda interupted. "You shouldn't say anything about this 'Luna' girl."
Allen didn't respond, but Kanda continued. "Someone attacks the order, along with four exorsists, and you just happen to be the only one who has seen someone who shouldn't exist? Something is strange about that statue, ill grant that, but it doesn't feel bad. If we start talking about this girl, and she is caught, you might be making an enemy out of a potential ally, and that is the last thing you need right now."
Both boys stared.
"Wow Yuu-chan." Lavi gaped. "I didn't know you could think so logically..."
"It's an important battle stratagey, Baka." kanda snapped. "And im not going to be outsmarted by some pathetic stalker."
"So what do i say if someone sees it?"
Both boys turned to Allen.
"Lie." Kanda replied quickly. Allen deadpanned.
"Allen-kun!"
The group turned to see Komoui walking into the ward.
"How are you feeling today?"
Just as Allen opened his mouth to reply, his stomach spoke first with a mightly growl.
Allen laughed sheepishly. "I... I guess im hungry..."
"That's good news!" Komoui grinned. "Once you're back to your super healthy appetite, i'll be able to rest easier!" He laughed, then turned to lavi, but before he spoke, his eyes caught the figure in his hands.
"What's that lavi?" Komoui grinned, interested.
"Ah... it's Allens!" he cried, before holding the figure out to kanda and pulling his hands away as if on fire. Kanda 'che'd' before walking over to the moyashi and dropping the statue back into his waiting hands.
"Where did you get that Allen-kun?" The question was innocent enough, but Allen could sense the underlined worry in Komoui's voice.
"It was a gift." he said quickly, trying to think up an excuse.
"From who?"
'crap!' Allen's mind screamed 'I didnt think that far ahead!!'
"Kanda."
Lavi face-palmed as Komoui turned a suprised face toward the samurai, who was radiating annoyance toward Allen. Said british boy sent Kanda a pleading glance to play along.
"Really now?" Komoui was definitly suspisious.
"I found it in my closet, and it was taking up space, so i thought i could just dump it, but the moyashi insisted i shouldnt get rid of it, so i threw it at him and now he insists it's a gift." Kanda snapped quickly.
Komoui blinked. "Uh...okay?" Allen and Lavi sighed. Leave it to kanda to come up with rapid and beleiveable excuses. Where did he learn that from...?
"Anyway, Kanda-kun, how is your head feeling?"
"What happened to your head?" Allen snapped quickly, sending the samurai an accusing stare for keeping an injury secret.
"Its fine." kanda snapped, purposefully avoinding Allen's stare. "It was healed a week ago."
"Good." komoui nodded. "Anyway, Allen-kun, I'll have a nurse bring up your usual lunch order if that's alright with you?"
Allen nodded with a polite smile. As komoui turned to speak with lavi some more, Allen grabbed onto the sleeve of Kanda's shirt.
"What happened." he demanded. Kanda pulled his sleeve away. "It was nothing. I just hit a wall while helping lenalee." Kanda snapped back. Allen seemed to accept the answer, and relaxed a little, but the conversation was far from over.
He would find the truth.

"Lenalee was attacked!?" Allen's head shot up and whiped around to face Kanda. "Is she alright!? Was anyone else hurt!?"
"She's fine." Kanda snapped. "She was just thrown off the balcony. But you should really be more worried-"
"THROWN OFF THE BOLOGNA!?"
"..."
"CUT!"
Lavi burst out laughing from his spot on his bed, practically crying.
"YOU... AHAHA... YOU...BUAHA.... YOU SAID... AHAHAH... BOLOGNA...AHAH..."
Kanda rolled his eyes before sitting in one of the prop chairs to wait for the scene to reset.
"Sorry..." Allen laughed, rubbing the back of his head. "i guess im hungry..."
"Is that all you ever thing about stupid sprout?" kanda snapped.
"Well it doesnt help that the pet name you've so graciously given me is also the name of a food." Allen snapped back, glaring.
"pet name?" kanda growled. By this time Lavi was howling. Kanda smirked. "Kinda like Bakanda...?"
Allen's face turned beet red. "Shut up! That one isnt a pet name and you know it!"
"Neither is beansprout! I mean, come on, im insulting your height!"
"But does it have to be a food!? I mean, why not just call me chibi or somthing!?"
Kanda's face turned a light pink. "Now that is definitly a pet name, and i am NOT calling you that. I would rather die a painful death."
"Well then, just come up with something else!! That stupid pet name always make me hungry!!"
"Alright fine." Kanda snapped, a mischevious grin on his face. Lavi stopped laughing hysterically for a moment to make sure he didnt miss what kanda was about to do. "You want a pet name so badly, ill give you one. Snuggles."
The room was silent for a moment, until lavi started his howling anew, banging a fist on his bed. Allen stared in shock.
"Wha..."
"You heard me snuggles." Kanda snapped, somehow managing to maintain his cool air while calling the smaller boy such a baby-ish name. "now get ready for the next scene."
Allen blinked in astonishment.
"You know what?" the author strode onto the set. "Kanda, why don't you and snuggles take a break for a bit, we need to revive lavi.
The two turned to see the red head laying on his bed completely unsresponsive, but still shaking with laughter.
"My name is not snuggles." Allen snapped.
"Stop complaining and get something to eat snuggles." The author snapped, while directing the medical squad to the red head.
"Its not..."
"Come on snuggles." kanda snapped, pulling Allen off the set.
"Hey snuggles, can i see you for a sec?" lenalee walked over next to the two.
"Im not-"
"Hey snuggles, let me fix your make-up!"
"Will you-"
"Will someone rewrap the gauze on Snuggle's arm please?!"
"Stop-"
"Well snuggles?" Kanda sneered at the boy.
Allen had had it.
"MY NAME IS NOT SNUGGLES! ITS BEANSPROUT!"
The room was silent for a moment, until the sound of Lavi's renewed laughter filled the set once more as Allen slammed his face into his palm.
Chuckling quietly, Kanda turned to get some lunch.
***
Allen: Author-chan... why do you torture me so...?
Author: cuz you react so well.. and its fun... *evil grin*
Kanda: What's wrong Snuggles? cant stand a little joke?
