Pieces of the heart
Part 10~

"So Allen-chan, are you ready for a night full of adventure?"
Allen looked up from the book he was *cough* pretending to read to raise a brow at the excited red head residing in the bed across from him.
"And what exactly do you mean by 'adventure'?" Allen asked, closing the book and placing it on his lap. He had wanted to read the book, really, but he just couldn't stop thinking about his last line of defense... who was currently on a train heading to Germany.
Lavi, who had imediatly picked up on Allen's line of thought, grinned. He was going to make Allen forget that he was in danger, if only for a little bit. It had been too long since he had heard Allen laugh in a genuine manner, and it was about time he got a refresher.
"Well, i was thinking an all nighter with Lenalee-chan might cheer you up!"
"Eh?!" Allen jumped, taking in the idea with a slight dusting of pink on his cheeks. "You dont mean..."
"Oh Allen, you have a naughty, naughty mind!" Lavi laughed, waggling a finger at the boy. "What would our dear lenalee say if she heard you now!?"
Allen's blush darkened as his cheeks puffed out in a pout.
"That's not what i meant and you know it!" he snapped. "But how is lenalee going to get in here? Don't visiting hours end at 10?"
"Yup!" Lavi grinned, "But sneaking in hours start at about 11, so she should be good."
Allen deadpanned. "I don't know if this is going to work... staying up all night... and every night? I'll die before the week's out..." Allen sighed, putting his head in his hands.
"Don't worry buddy!" Lavi cheered. "Your old pal lavi is an expert at staying up! I'll just stay up with you to make sure you don't fall asleep!"
Allen sighed. "There's got to be a better way... " Allen sighed. "I can't last a month with no sleep... and neither can you!"
"Yuu-chan will be back by then, and he'll be able to help! Don't worry Moyashi... we'll make sure everything is okay."
Allen smiled greatfully, but it was only half hearted.
For the rest of the evening, the two sat in comfortable silence, Lavi catching up on his reading (courtesy of Bookman) and Allen still trying (and failing) to read his own book.
***

Soon it was time for bed, and Allen and Lavi curled up into their sheets as the lights went out. They responded to the 'good night' calls of several of the nurses with smiles and waves, until it was just the two in the darkness of the ward.
"We're lucky that everyone else has healed already!" Lavi laughed, motioning to the empty beds. "I wouldn't feel right keeping everyone up."
Allen laughed at the red head's failed attempt at keeping a serious face, before his smile quickly fadded into a pensive look. Lavi sighed. This is how Allen had been all day, reacting to his surroundings for just a moment until his mind fell back into serious thought. He was about to crack a joke about the darkness when a soft but sharp knock sounded through the ward.
"That's Lenalee!" Lavi grinned, looking to Allen who pulled back the covers and padded across the cold linoleum floor. Allen raised a fist to the door and knocked back three times. Another knock responded, and he grinned and opened the door.
Lenalee stood in her sleeping attire, holding books, food, and games galore.
"AW SWEET!" lavi laughed, reaching his hands out to take some of the girls items as she tipped them down onto his bed. He quickly grabbed a bag of chips, ripping them open and shoving a handful into his mouth. Allen and Lenalee laughed as Lavi tried to speak through a mouthfull of chips, spraying food everywhere.
"Lavi!" Lenalee cried, giggleing. "Keep it down or someone will hear us!"
Lavi struggled to gulp down the chips, before gasping for air.
"I said i was choking!" he cried. The other two laughed.
"Oops?" lenalee shrugged.
"So Allen, why are you so quie-...oh." Lavi stared at the white haired boy who was blinking back at him innocently, the remnants of a chip bag in his hand, and several more empty at his feet with crumbs decorating the ground and his face. One hand was poised, waiting by his mouth with a fist full of the crispy goodness.
"Right." Lenalee deadpanned. "Well it's a good thing i brought alot!"
"Ehe..." Allen laughed nervously with a shy smile. "Sorry..."
"Hey guys..." the two turned to lavi, who was looking up at the ceiling.
"Yeah?" Lenalee answered.
"Do you... smell something?"
Lenalee and Allen proceeded to sniff the air.
"Not really..." Lenalee shrugged.
"Kinda..." Allen scrunched his nose and sniffed some more. "It smells... sweet...?"
"Oh, that must be the cake!" Lenalee cheered, digging in her massive pile for a round container. Both boys leaned in curiously as she pulled off the lid to reveal a big white cake, delicatly decorated with blue flowers.
"I had Jerry-san make it for me!" Lenalee smiled, presenting the food to the boys. "Its a 'get well soon' cake!"
Allen was practically drooling.
"That was nice of you, thank you lenalee!" Lavi grinned. "Lets eat!!"
***

Lavi jerked forward in bed, panting heavily in the silence of the room. It was almost pitch dark, the only light coming from the soft red glow of the nurses station.
"Wha... what happened?" He looked around, sleepily rubbing a palm into his emerald eye. "I...I.."
'I fell asleep.'
Lavi suddenly jerked into alertness as his single eye snapped over to Allen's bed. On his way, he spotted Lenalee, asleep on the floor. Allen was laying stone still with his eyes closed. Lavi stared, watching the slow rise and fall of his chest, and cursed under his breath.
"ALLEN!" He called "AL-"
He froze. A sound from the other side of the room made his blood run cold. He felt as if his heart would stop beating. That sound... that sound...
He slowly turned, looking toward the side of the room where the nurses station would be. The red glow was gone, covered by something dark and squirming. He stared. It was spreading...
"A-allen..." Lavi called weakly, keeping his eyes trained on the dark wall. His breath came out in a puff of whispy fog. The tempurature of the room seemed to be sinking quickly, like, whatever was there was sucking the warmth right out of the air.
The mass crawled and expanded like a group of rats, emitting high pitched squeaks and rumbling growls.
"Allen..." lavi sang a little louder, shivers running through his body.
"mmm... lavi?" Lenalee stratched, then sleepily tried to curl into herself. "why'sit so cold?" she mumbled.
"I think the heats broken..." lavi laughed nervously, "or it could be that evil thing in the corner that seems to want to kill us..."
"evil... evil thing!?" Lenalee snapped up, staring with wide eyes around the room. Her eyes landed on the corner. The darkenss was louder now, crawling its way across the floor.
"What is that!?" She shrieked.
"Its probably what's after Allen!" Lavi called back. His voice cracked due to the cold chills running through him. He pulled his arms around himself in an effort to keep warm. "Try to wake him!"
Lenalee nodded, rising onto shaking feet. She kept a sharp eye on the creature in the corner while she slowly moved over to Allen's side.
"Allen-kun..." She shook him. "Please, wake up! ALLEN!"
"what's wrong?" Lavi called.
"He won't wake up!" Lenalee cried, "he feels freezing!"
Lavi growled, running a hand through his hair. The darkness was spreading.
"Lenalee." lavi snapped, the serious tone to his voice catching the girls attention. "Get on the bed with Allen. Try to warm him up."
She nodded and climbed up next to him, still shaking him and speaking, trying to wake him.
The darkness began to move more wildly, stretching and growing. Lavi felt panic welling up in his stomach as the whole back wall was covered, and it began to slither closer toward them. The center, a mass of swirling purples and blacks, began to expand from the wall, as if something was trying to break through. Its rounded form began to shape and squirm until it gained a form. Lavi felt his stomach churn. The darkness had formed a hand, and by the way the mass continued to squirm, it looked like the rest of the body was coming.
Lavi jumped at a crash. One of the beds in back had collapsed into the floor and was being eaten away. It looked as if it were decaying in fast forward.
"AahH... lLleeEen..."
Lavi's eyes turned back to the darkness. In the center of the mass, the hand had sprouted an arm, and then a torso, and then a body. He stared at the form. It was a dark and covered in black swirls of negative energy, shaped like a basic human, but ooze was dripping from its limbs. A ghastly smile stretched across its face, creating a gaping mouth connected by threads of darkness. Lavi shivered.
With a sickening squish, two blade like appendages sliced from its back, spreading like wings of death.
"AaaLleen..." It gurgled.
"W-what do you w-want!?" Lavi cursed when he failed to hide the fear in his voice. He stood on shaky legs, reaching for his hammer which Miranda had so kindly left with him.
"I am... Allen..." The mass seemed to bubble as the grin became wider, reminding Lavi of the earl itself. It was staring at him, or so he though, but he couldn't tell since the creature seemed to lack eyes. Somehow, lavi was releived. Having to stare at it's eyes would probably deprive him of sleep for weeks...
"I am... Allen Walkerrrr..." it growled.
"Sorry to inform you..." lavi sighed, pulling the i.v. from his arm and moving into a fighting stance. "But you're nothing like the real Allen."
The monster's smile faultered. "I AM Allen Walker!" it screamed. It raised a large hand, morphing it into a visious claw, almost the size of a bed, and brought it crashing down. Dust, splinters, and fabric went flying across the room as Lavi's bed was obliterated.
"LAVI!" Lenalee shrieked, unconsiously tightening her hold on Allen.
"I'm okay!" Lavi coughed. He had moved away just in time, and was standing with his hammer slighly enlarged, awaiting the monsters next move. He cursed when he felt something warm spreading on his chest. His wound had reopened.
"I am Allen Walker!" the monster wrasped with glee. It grinned at Lavi again, like a child waiting for praise.
"Think again!" Lavi cried. "Odzuchi Kodzuchi! GROW!" Lavi's hammer grew rapidly, until the head was almost the size of a bycicle. He swung it down, directly hitting the creature with a sickening splat. It bended slighly, but stayed in place as dark tendrils began to wrap around the weapon.
"w-what!?" lavi cried. He tried to pull back, but the hammer was stuck firmly in place. Hands wrapped around it.
"Foolish exorsist... i am Allen..." A smiling face reappeard.
The handle of Lavi's hammer swung up into the air, with lavi still holding onto it, until it came crashing down into the floor. Lenalee winced at the crack that resounded through the room. Lavi groaned painfully, before he ceased movement.
"L...lavi..." Lenalee stared.
A dark hand slid over the edge of the bed and reached for Allen's leg, gently touching it above the knee.
"DON'T TOUCH HIM!" Lenalee shrieked, trying to pull Allen away. The hand snapped around his leg, and began pullling him back. Lenalee's shoulders bumped up against the headboard, and something fell with a small clink.
"Duck!"
Lenalee gasped and pushed herself down on the bed as a large black mass flew over her head and into the creature, sending it across the room. She looked up to see lavi, panting heavily and standing akwardly. He stumbled for a moment, seeming to lose focus.
"Lavi, are you okay!?" Lenalee cried.
"Fine." Lavi laughed weakly before spitting a little blood onto the floor. "Just... get Allen out of here. Hurry, cuz i don't think i can fight anymore."
Lenalee nodded, gathering the unconsious boy in her arms. She took a few steps toward lavi before something grabbed her hair and she cried out. She twisted around to see the darkness with a firm grasp on her long hair. It growled.
"I. Am. Allen. Walker." It snapped at her, before pulling her up into the air. She yelled and struggled, dropping Allen onto the floor with a thunk. His head smacked into the table by his bed, sending the objects on top of it flying to the floor. The guardian landed with a c***k, and a small charm fell on top of it.
Suddenly, a bright light filled the room. It surged, it's beams slicing holes into the darkness crawling across the walls. The creature recoiled, dropping lenalee onto the floor and hissing. Lavi could only stare as a large beast stepped from the white light. It looked to be a huge dog. It stared, emitting a low growl. The violet fur on its back stood on end and dark flames danced around its feet. Deep golden eyes bore into the darkness.
"Ah-len... Wal...ker..." The creature gurgled. The guardian sprang forward, slashing with a flaming paw right at the chest of the darkness. Dark smoke surged into the airas the monster screamed and writhed. It shrank, sinking further and further into the back until the last remains sank into the cracks of the wall, and it was gone.
Lenalee and Lavi jumped when a loud gasp filled the air. Allen coughed and sputtered, desperatly trying to refill his empty lungs. He felt like he had been underwater for a long time, and was completely worn out. Lenalee rushed to his side and wrapped him in her arms, trying to comfort the shaking and confused boy.
"It's Alright Allen..." she cooed. "You're alright... just breathe..."
Lavi watched as Allen began to regain his composure. He felt a nudge on his palm, and turned to see the guardian. It whined softly and nosed his hand again. He smiled and scratched it behind the ear.
"Thanks." he said, petting it softly. He stopped for a moment, furrowing his brow. The guardian was wearing something... a necklace? He leaned down. There was a jade charm on it, kind of like a collar.
"Lavi!" The jr. Bookmans attention turned back to his friends. He slowly hobbled his way over, with the help of the guardian, and sank onto the floor next to the two.
"Doin' alright Allen?" Lavi sighed. Allen was much paler than before, and was still shaking heavily.
"W-w-what h-happened...?" he looked around, frightened.
"We all... fell asleep..." lenalee said soflty.
Allen stared at her in disbelief before turning to Lavi. The red head was still panting, his shirt covered in blood, and his left arm handing limply at his side.
"Oh... oh no..." Allen gasped. "Im so sorry! I knew it wouldn't work! I fell asleep and it hurt you! I told you to stay away... i TOLD-" He was cut off when the guardian growled darkly.
"Guardian-chan's right you know." Lavi nodded. The other two looked at him. "It's really not your fault. We all would have fallen asleep anyway."
"Why do you say that?" lenalee blinked.
"because." lavi's face turned serious. "Someone released sleeping gas into the room.".
"Sleeping gas!?" Lenalee cried harshly. Lavi nodded.
"it was around 3 am when it happened. Some gas filled the room and we all started passing out. That was what i though i smelled earlier."
Suddenly, the lights turned on with a flash. Allen whimpered as the others cringed. The guardian pushed its nose under Allen's arm until it was practically sitting on the boy, keeping him safe.
"What is going on in here!?" the three recognized the booming voice of Komoui, who was obviously not happy. They turned to see him standing at the door, arms crossed over his chest and eyes hidden by the glint on his glasses. Behind him was the head nurse, glaring promises of murder. "The infirmary is a place of rest! and Lenalee... sneaking out of your room?! I don't know what to say about you! You know someone is after Allen-kun! Can't you be more careful!?"
"What about you nii-san?!" Lenalee shrieked back. "Were you the one who put sleeping gas in the room?!" At komoui's guilty flinch, she continued. "Do you know how dangerous that was? We were lucky that lavi woke up when he did, or Allen-kun, no, all of us, would have been killed!!"
"What are you-" Komoui stopped when a deep growl filled the air. The violet guardian moved off of Allen and began to stalk toward the supervisor, ready to attack. Allen struggled to climb into a stand, reaching out for his friend.
"No! Guardian-cha-AUGH!" he cried as his legs gave out and he crashed into the floor, curling into a ball.
"Allen!" lenalee cried, sliding over to the boys side, trying to comfort him.
The guardian ceaced its attack, sending a warning glare at komoui before moving over to it's fallen charge. Allen's face was contorted in pain as he held one of his knees.
"What in the world.." komoui breathed, fighting the urge for his own legs to ceace function. Everything was happening so suddenly...
"Komoui-san." The supervisor turned to see Lavi looking at him with a sympathetic gaze. "If we could watch the security tape... maybe then things will be more clear."
Komoui nodded numbly.
***

"And what will i be looking for?" Komoui said soflty. The group had carefully moved into the nurses station, avoiding the remaining pieces fo bed that had been strewn across the infirmary. Allen seemed to have suddenly become magnetic, latching on to Lavi's arm for all that he was worth, and hiding his face in the red-head's shoulder. Lavi took pity on the boy, and let him sit in his lap as they began to watch the tape being set up by the head nurse. Currently, it was showing a sleeping Lavi, Allen, and Lenalee. The lavi on the video seemed to twitch for a moment, before he jerked awake.
"It's a good thing Bookman has me trained to stay awake." Lavi laughed lightly. "Just incase i might miss something."
"Hush." Komoui said. "What's happening?" On the T.V, Lavi was talking to lenalee, who had woken up, and was climbing on to Allen's bed.
"The darkness was gathering at the walls..." Lavi said. He squinted at the screen. "But..."
"What?" Komoui blinked, staring at the screen intently.
Lavi raised a hand, signaling komoui to wait. They watched for a few more minutes, then suddenly, the bed Lavi was laying on was suddenly smashed to a million pieces.
"What... was that?" Komoui stared.
"But..." lenalee stammered. She watched some more as her video self was raised into the air by her hair.
"I dont understand!" komoui yelled. "There's nothing there!"
The others stared in disbelief. The darkness didn't show up on the video.
"What about the guardian?" Allen asked softly. Lavi was suprised to see him peeking out at the tape. When the darkness attacked Lavi again ,he could feel Allen jump and twist his fingers deeper into his shoulder. Lavi smiled soflty and ruffled the boy's brown hair, earning a confused look from sad amber eyes. Lavi smiled brightly and Allen relaxed just a little.
A violet glow appeared on the tape.
"There!" lavi pointed, but the statue on the ground vanished, along with the charm. The group stared at the screen dumbly.
"So... neither of them appeared on tape." komoui sighed, running a hand through his hair and leaning back in his seat.
"But they were there!" lenalee cried. "The darkness grabbed my-!" She froze as the hand she was running through her hair stopped dead. She paled and slowly pulled it out, mouth agape. Clumps of her hair were tangled around her fingers, and more was falling to the floor.
"Lenalee!!" Komoui gasped, jumping to his sisters side. Her hair had dissentigrated where the darkness had grasped it, and when all of it had fallen away, she was left with short hair, barely reaching past her ears. Her brother cried noisily as he helped her even it out.
"Apparently" lavi said, holding his chin in one hand. "The darkness eats away at whatever it touches..."
"A-allen-kun." lenalee sniffed, "Didn't the darkness... touch your leg?"
Lavi felt Allen tense. He shifted the boy to see his face better. Allen looked up with shining eyes before using a hand to cover the ragged hole in his pants.
"I-i'm okay." he said softly.
"Then let me see." Lavi plucked Allen's hands away from his leg. The british boy winced as Lavi began to roll up the fabric of his pant leg. Everything was normal up to the knee. Lavi kept going, then stopped with a gasp. Above Allen's knee, it looked like someone had spilled black paint on to the pale skin. It was a deep black bruise.
"Allen..." lavi stared. The boy was pale, and lavi could feel him shaking again.
"I... I dont understand..." Allen's voice shook. "I didn't feel anything...I dont... I can't..!"
Lavi pulled him into a tight hug, shushing and rocking the hysterical teen.
"Nurse." Komoui said softly. The woman nodded before dissapearing into another room.
"W-what are you.. going to do?" Allen shivered. Komoui walked over to the boy and kneeled beside him, ruffleing his hair brown hair with a kind smile.
"For now," he said softly, "We're going to bind it, to keep it from getting worse."
"And if it does?"
"We'll deal with that when the time comes." Komoui said gravley.
Allen cried softly, unable to stop the stream of tears sliding down his face. He twisted himself into the redheads lap to bury his face into his shirt. Lavi was warm and soft, just what he needed to help him calm down... and he smelled...
he smelled...
'like grass?'
Allen lifted his head, mouth open and ready to ask why, exactly, the red head smelled of earth, but he found himself somewhere unexpected. He was staring down at grass, his body curled into the soft blades. In front of him were fields and fields of green, and a sky of blue, dotted with puffy white clouds.
A small giggled caused him to whip around. He found the source to be a pretty blonde girl. The one who had brought him to this same place before.
"Who..." Allen bit his tounge. The last time he had asked that, he had almost passed away. The girl smiled brightly.
"My name is Alteara." She said softly. "And welcome."
"Where is this place?" The question was out before Allen could stop himself, and he sat up hoping that nothing was about to attack him. He looked up and noticed that he was under the same tree as before.
"This is a dream, and we are in my garden." She said softly. "Unlike Luna, i cannot yet extend myself completely into your world from the place i am at now, so i must bring you to my garden, as a meeting point."
Allen paled. "A dream... but that means... that means im asleep!!" he cried.
"Yes, but you are safe." Allen turned to stare at her with a look that clearly questioned her sanity. She giggled and continued. "There are others around your body, and the darkness is still recovering from it's encounter with your guardian. It will not come again so quickly."
Allen breathed a sigh of relief, bringing his legs up to his chest and curling his arms around them.
"Why does it want me?" he questioned softly. He clenched his fist in the grass, pulling a few strands from their rooted homes and holding them up. He loosened his grip and watched them float away on the breeze. "What did I do to deserve this..."
Alteara looked on sadly. "There is something inside of your body. It calls to the darkness. But, i came to offer some help."
Allen seemed to perk up, the hint of a grin flashing across his face before a more restrained look took hold.
"Can you... cure me?!" he asked, barley able to contain the excitement from his voice.
Alteara shook her head and Allen felt his hopes fall with a thump.
"I am afraid that the only help I can offer at the moment is advice."
Allen still smiled, trying to be polite. "I would appreciate it very much." he said. "Anything you can tell me would be a big help."
Alteara smiled at the warmth in his voice.
"I know Luna said you could not sleep." The girl twiddled with a particularly long blade of grass. "But no creature, especially not humans, can survive without it. When you grow tired, lay outside in direct sunlight, and with at least one other person. Then it will be safe to rest."
"That's great." Allen sighed happily. At least he wouldnt have to worry so much about resting now.
"however." Alteara continued. "It is not a permanent solution. Eventually, the darkness will become desperate, and will attack, even in broad daylight. Sometimes, even while you are awake. So long as you resist, it will continue to try, harder and harder, until it gains access to your body. That is why you must resist for as long as possible. If you do, Luna and I may be able to save you."
Allen nodded. "So, how far away are you? How long-argh!" He flinched as a searing pain shot up his leg. Spots began to dance in his vision, slowly blotching out the saddened face of Alteara, and replacing it with darkness. He felt himself jostled, and looked up right into the face of lavi.
"W-what..?"
"You passed out." Lavi said softly. Allen blinked up to see the red head was much paler than usual. He felt a chill run up his spine.
"Did...did something happen?" He looked around searching for any abnormalities or problems.
"No." lavi sighed with a nervous smile. "We got lucky."
"So it only happens when Allen sleeps then?" Komoui said softly. Allen jumped at the voice. He hadn't realized that the chinese man was below him, tightly wrapping his knee. He was almost half way finished.
"That's not good." he mumbled. "Humans can't survive without some sleep...."
"But the science department does it all the time!!" Lavi joked. Komoui killed his fun with a frown.
"That's not the case and you know it." he snapped.
"Ah but..." both turned to Allen. "That's not really... a problem anymore...so..."
"What!?" lavi snapped. "But you said... you said..!"
"Yeah..." Allen placed a hand on the back of his head. "Well, thats what luna said to me... but Alteara said she was just being strict, and told me a way i could get some rest so..."
"Hold it hold it hold it." Komoui dropped his wrappings, raising his hands as if to stop the words in mid air. "Luna and Alteara?"
"Ah..." Allen fidgeted nervously under the scientists gaze. "Luna... has been telling me about the darkness.. and warning me about things... while Alteara is trying to help... but-"
"When did you see these people?" Komoui snapped. "I know there are no 'Luna's or 'Alteara's in this branch of the order."
Allen flinched at the angered sound hidden in Komoui's voice. Seeing an outsider was not something simply done when you belonged to the black order.
'how am i going to explain this...' he sighed.
"Allen-chan meets them in dream world." Lavi grinned. Komoui blinked, staring in disbelief at the redhead, before turning to Allen, who had a sheepish grin on his embarassed face.
"Is that... true, Allen-kun?"
Allen gave a small nod, just enough to agree, but still explain that he didnt believe it himself.
Komoui finished the wrappings on Allen's leg with a small 'snap' and stood, running a hand through his disheveled dark hair. Allen suddenly noticed that the trademark white beret was missing. He must have been in quite a hurry to get down here if he forgot it...
"I dont like this at all." Komoui sighed, sinking back into a chair. Lenalee leaned over his shoulder, gently comforting him with her hands on his back. He gave her a small greatful smile, but it vanished when he turned back to Allen.
"This is so very dangerous Allen-kun!" he sighed, fighting his aggrivation. "Why didnt you tell someone sooner? They could be the enemy, Noah, or some trick by the earl himself! How do you know you can trust them?"
Allen's retort was cut off by a deep growl. They turned to see the guardian, glaring at the supervisor. It padded it's way over to Allen before whining softly and nuzzleing it's head into the boy's lap. Allen looked straight at Komoui, who was looked defeatedly at the animal, and placed his hand on its head, scratching behind it's ears.
"If luna and Alteara were evil, they wouldnt have given me guardian-chan to protect me. All they've done is give me advice and warnings... its like... having two older sisters. As an older brother, komoui, i would think especially you would understand how sometimes doing something with the best motives may seem questionable at the time."
Komoui sighed. He knew when he was defeated. Between the glares from the fox, the deep expression in Allen's amber eyes, and the pressure from his sister leaning on him, he was ready to just call it a night.
"Alright." he said. "You will not be placed in confinement, yet." Allen smiled greatfully. "But, you will not tell anyone else about these visions, or these people, and every time you speak with one of them, or both, you will come to me immediatly afterward, regardless of the time, and give me a detailed report about what was said, where you were, what happened and the like. In fact, how many times have you spoken with them already?"
Allen frowned for a second, recounting the times in his head.
"Once with both of them... luna has come... three times... and Alteara once. Actually, when i passed out a moment ago, that was Alteara speaking with me."
"Reallly?" Lavi pulled away to look at the boy. "You just looked like you were sleeping."
Allen shrugged. "It's true."
"That's fine." komoui said. "Im sorry to do this to you now, but i need to hear what was said and done during those meetings. I know you wanted some sleep but..."
"It's alright Komoui-san." Allen smiled brightly, managing to mask the dark lines forming around his eyes. "Your office..?"
The supervisor nodded. He stood, and turned back to the head nurse to speak with her.
"Hop up moyashi!" lavi grinned, nudging the boy on his lap.
"Its Allen! Seriously Lavi, your a bookman for blimey's sake. Remember it!"
"Did you just say 'for blimey's sake'?"
"Shut up, I'm British."
Allen seriously considered punching the, now rolling with laughter bookman on the floor, but decided that lavi had had enough abuse for the night when Lavi began a small coughing fit. Allen laughed lightly, before reaching out his non gauzed arm to help the boy up. Lavi took the hand and Allen swung him into a standing position, before he suddenly felt himself falling. Lavi stared as the boy who pulled him up sank to the floor in his place.
Allen blinked for a moment, sitting on the tile and hanging on to lavi's hand.
"You alright?" Lavi questioned toward the floor.
"guess i slipped or something..." Allen shrugged before using the hand he was still holding to try and pull himself up again. However, the moment he moved his legs underneath himself, he fell to the floor again.
"I don't think.. my legs want to work." Allen grunted, glaring at the offending appendages.
Lavi laughed, pulling the boy up one more time for good measure. Once Allen seemed to be on his feet, lavi let go, and watched the brown haired boy stumble again, catching him before he was reaquainted with the lineolium.
"Is he alright?" Komoui asked, coming over. Allen sighed.
"I'm fine... i think. I just... can't... stand?"
Komoui sighed.
"Lavi... could you..?"
"Sure thing!" Lavi kneeled on the floor and komoui helped Allen onto his back.
"Back to being carried..." Allen sighed.
As the group walked out, Lavi looked toward the guardian, who followed close by his side. A small shine around it's neck caught his attention. It was that pendant again...
"Hey Allen, what's up with the pendant on guardian-chan?" Lavi asked, turning to the boy on his back.
"Hm?" Allen turned to look at the fox. "What pendant..." After a moment, he spoted it. "... That wasn't there before..."
"Really?" Komoui popped up next to the boys and looked at the necklace. "That symbol looks... familiar..."
"It's an ancient japanese character for protection." Lavi said. "and if that pendant is what I think it is... It may be what gives guardian-chan the ability to move about so easily."
"Eh?" Allen blinked.
"Well." lavi said. "It's an old legend in Japan that if you place enough feelings in an object, it will come to life. So people would make pendants, and enfuse them with their feelings. Then they would string the pendant on an object they wanted to live, and it would act out on the feelings of the pendant. However, the practice was banned when people began experimenting with corpses. Also, sometimes the feelings in the pendants were not pure, and the object would act out of control. Like... guardian-chan's pendant is probably programmed to protect Allen, but if the feeling was too intense, guardian-chan would end up attacking.. say... me, because im too close to Allen right now. Or it would even attack someone who's trying to help him. Get it?"
Komoui nodded. "But where did that pendant come from."
"I don't know." Allen said. "It wasnt on the statue, and luna never gave it to me... and the first time i saw guardian-chan, it didnt have it on..."
"Can i see?" The group turned to Lenalee, who had been quietly following behind. She walked up to the fox and peeked at the necklace.
"Ah... that's Kanda's!"
"..."
(komoui: how did you know that was kanda's!?)
"..."
(komoui: did you see it in his room? what were you doing in his room?!)
"..."
(komoui: or worse... you saw it ON HIM!! you were in his room with him and taking off his shirt and- *insert lenalee's 'brother smackdown' here*)
"PFFT! yeah right lenalee-chan... like Bakanda would ever...ever... " Allen couldn't seem to finish the sentance. He stared at the guardian, who looked back with golden eyes. Eye's that looked suspiciously familiar.
Eyes like Kanda's.
"No way..."
"Awww! I alway's knew Yuu-chan was a good guy!" Lavi crowed.
Allen couldn't help but smile as he buried his face into Lavi's back. 'even though he's gone... he kept his promise... he's still protecting me.'
A loud rumble sounded through the hall.
"Aha..." Allen mumbled into Lavi's back.
"Sound's like Allen's inner beast is hungry." Lenalee laughed.
"Alright then, a short trip to the cafeteria couldnt hurt." Komoui smiled before he led the group away.

Allen: okay now author chan... you're really pushing it with me and bakanda. It sounds like im.. like im... his damsel in distress or something!!
Kanda:Well.. you are a damsel...
Allen: shut up feminine hair!!
Kanda: what did you say!? At least i dont have old man hair!!
Allen: Straight cut fringe!!
Kanda: *Grabs mugen* Ill show you a straight cut!
Lavi: have you guy's seen author chan?
Allen & Kanda : ... uh...
Lavi: *wanders off* Author-chan... sweety... where aaaaaaare yooooooou...?
Allen: huh... what was i doing?
Kanda: che. (translation: i forgot what i was doing too, but you dont need to know that, so shut up and stop talking to me.)
Lenalee: Hey... have you guys seen lavi? I think he went by here... i needed to ask him something.
Allen: he just went that way. *points*
Kanda: are you a complete idiot, or just stupid! He went that way.
Lenalee: aha... thanks... *wanders off*
Allen: well sorry that im slightly directionally challeged! you dont have to be a jerk about it!
Kanda: slightly? Slightly!? you couldnt direct your way out of a 5x5 room with ONE DOOR!
Author: hey guys.
Allen: well why dont you go play a scrach and sniff at the bottom of a pool!
Author: ah...
Kanda: Go take a long walk off a short pier!
Author: have you guys seen lenalee?
Allen: Ask Bakanda. Im afraid that my Idiotic sense of direction will point you the wrong way *coughsarcasmcough*
Kanda: she would be better off asking me than getting pointed to, oh i dont know, CHINA!
Allen: why you...
Author: one of you just point!
Allen & Kanda *Point in opposite directions*
Author: well, i was hoping you would point in the same direction... but since i really gotta find lenalee, im going to go with kanda on this one. Sorry moyashi! *runs off*
Allen: *gloom*
Kanda: ha. wait a second...
Allen: what.
Kanda: where are they going? baka usagi was looking for baka author, who was looking for lenalee, whos looking for the baka usagi.
Allen: ... What should we do.
kanda: Wanna watch them run in circles and point them in random directions?
Allen: *evil grin* oh yes...

"..."
(komoui: or worse... you saw it ON HIM!! you were in his room with him and taking off his shirt and-)
"..."
"Ah... lenalee-chan..." komoui fidgeted nervously at the girl whos face is looking guilty. "You're supposed to... deny..."
"You caught me nii-san!!" lenalee shrieked, launching into hysterics and rushing off the set into the not so awaiting (actually oblivious) arms of Kanda.
"O-oi.." kanda stared down at the girl in shock.
"Me and Kanda are DEEPLY in love... and i have undressed him!!"
The others stare in shock.
Generic camera guy A leaned over to the author.
"Author-chan... should we stop filming?"
"Are you kidding me!! This stuff is gold!! get a close up on lenalee's expression!" she whispered harshly, pointing at the girl with the rolled up magazine she so handily had.
The camera man sighs. He knew the author was crazy...
"But... but... my darling lenalee... that mean... that you TOUCHED him!!" the air around komoui was slowly growing darker and more venemous, much to the horror of Kanda.
"You cant hate him brother!!" lenalee cried. "I... i... i love him!!"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!" komoui screamed, grabbing at his hair and falling to the ground. "Must. Kill. All. Who interact. With. My. LENALEEE!!!"
Kanda *meeped* before rushing away at full ninja speed.
"Oh no!" Lenalee (fake) sobbed on the ground. "My knight has left mee!!"
Lavi stared, then turned to Allen.
"Are you as confused as i am?"
"Seriously" Allen sighed. "Since when was kanda a knight? I always thought of him as a... yakuza or something.
"Do you even know what a yakuza is?" Lavi questioned.
"Nope."
***

author: sorry for that horribly random blooper... but i was feeling... well... random.
Lenalee: i can't beleive you made me do that with kanda!!
Author: you were'nt really doing it!! just... freaking out komoui is all.
Komoui: *sniff* my darling lenalee...
Kanda: i. will. kill you.
Lavi: now yuu-chan, if you keep threatening my precious author sweety like that, im gonna have to whack you a new one.
Kanda: *sneers* wanna try it?
Author: alright alright, thats enough! no more of that. Im having a hard enough time living in a new place, let alone sorting all of you out.
Allen: what do you mean sorting us out? dont we just... i dunno... live in your computer?
Author: well, sometimes i feel like you guys are... different parts of my personality. That's probably what makes it so easy to speak for you. Each one of you is 'that' part, so all i have to do is switch feelings.
Lenalee: what part of you am i, author-chan?
Author: hm... probably... the sickeningly good girl. super obnoxious.
Allen: and me?
Author: deffinitly my innocent self, whats pure, with an opposite of devious. Kinda like... my weakened feelings. thats probably why i make you cry so much. XD
Allen: so mean... TT^TT
Lavi: what about me huh!?
Author: super excited, flirtatious, and my all around fun side. That would by why you burst into song so often. *nods*
Lavi: i do like to sing... and what about yuu-chan! (since i know he wont ask on his own.)
Author: Kanda is probably my hurtful side, along with over protectiveness and loyalty, mixed with strong feelings of love.
Group: LOVE!?
Author: well... its just so easy to make kanda as someone who loves, but cannot love. get it? eh?
Group: no.
Author: sweatdrop
Kanda: that sister complex idiot is an easy one. Your obsessive retarded self?
Author: sure... we'll go with that. *rolls eyes*
Lenalee: alright author-chan, im sure everyone is sick of hearing you ramble, so lets get on with a preview! whats to expect in the next update? (relativily soon *cough tomorrow cough* probably!?)
Author: well lets see... we've got... a smidgen of Kanda... some in depth allen-Komoui interaction... a new problem with our favorite little albino, um... probably absolutly no lenalee.... the return of kanda to headquarters blaugh ... and and unexplained malady on Allen's part. (again) Untill next time everyone! ive got to close my windows to keep the stalkers out!
ja ne!
heart

on a horrific side note... our old neighbors came up from florida last week... and brough their dog asia, who thought our fish pond was a swimming hole...
now poor Allen, the albino fish who was named only hours prior... has passed away... TT TT
let us mourn.
(you know i think like 5 other fish died too... but thats what happens when a dog belly flops TWICE into a pond thats barely half of its size.)

that's ok i like confusing stories with lots of plot twists, it's what makes them interesting.....my criteria for a good story is....Good guy has to be a really good guy.....and has to be fighting a superevil villian, but those are the only constants in the story everything else...is like...crazy rollarcoaster plot twists!!!

aha... you may be out of luck with my story then... cuz ive got some pretty blurred standing points with some characters. like... the noah aren't all evil (not all of them are on the earls side for me. wink )
you'll just have to find out who. XD
and dont worry, i wont make it too... confusing.
i hope.

Good noah? that's a good plot twist.
I dont think that the noah are really bad in the manga...i just think that the earl is manipulating them with words and lies and that they are delusional ( i cant think that people are bad, even cartoon characters....it's just part of my personallity) ...That's why the earl HAS to go.....
If i was in d gray man i dont think i would even be able to pretend i was on the earl's side. It would be impossible for me.... Id be the person front line agianst the earl, weather i had innocence or not.....XD

i dont know about me........i have trouble writing a lot of times......

i need to work on my story....*sigh* but i should be studying *turns over on bed* but i really really want to play cards, or monopoly, or or....um....or anything!!!!...but no one will play everyone is busy or partying.....*sigh* i wish you were here......i miss my best buddy......
